  1. Forget all those posts about Skys The Limit in NJ closing down. Jeff Root has moved the DZ to East Stroudsburg, PA (about 15 minutes past the old place on Rte 80) and he couldn't have made a better choice. The landing area is huge. Plus no more funky winds or Farmer McNastys to deal with. The Helicopter place next door and the townspeople are happy to have the DZ there. Three neighbors were even kind enough to chop a tree down when they saw my main land in one after my cutaway this past Saturday. There's camping and indoor plumbing too. Looks like a good season at my home DZ after all. Come and check it out. Hey Jeff - if you read this, there's a recent post about how you used to buy the jumpers pizza on Saturdays at your old New York location. I think that's a tradition you should bring back - I like mine with extra cheese and mushrooms. Blue Skies!
  2. I just ask what they think of the Icarus' new 8-Cell Spectre. Then the fun really begins.
  3. I vote for NYC's Lombardi's on Spring St in Little Italy. I believe it's the oldest (or one of the oldest) in New York and it's great. If it's too crowded then Pomodoro's across the street makes a great second choice.
  4. Last summer a 50 jump wonder tried to fly his canopy uncomfortably close to me to the point where he was chasing me. I managed to get away from him and asked him about it when we were on the ground. He told me he was trying to bump end cells with my canopy. I told him that he didn't know what he was doing and to stay the hell away from me under canopy. His response..... "What are you worried about? It's the experienced jumpers that are dying under canopy. People with our jump numbers don't have anything to worry about." Holy shit! I told the S&TA about it and just stay off every load he is on. He still thinks I overreacted.
  5. Hey Chris, Sorry to hear about this. You have every right to vent. You may not have had it as tough as some but you've had it a lot tougher than many. Hugs and vibes to you. I hope they figure out what's wrong and fix it soon. Your positive outlook is amazing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lisa
  6. I went through exactly the same thing that you are going through. I recall three rides down with the plane in my earlier days. A lot of people told me that strong fear would really diminish around 50 jumps and they were right. I still get butterflies when I haven't jumped in a while but it goes as soon as the plane starts to taxi. And finally, an AFF instructor I know who has a D license and more than 2,000 jumps gets really really nervous in the spring when she makes her first jump after a long winter break in the northeast. She's an amazing instructor, competitor and all around skydiver. You're definitely not alone. If you can stick it out, it's worth it. The tunnel will also be very helpful too. Good luck and keep us posted. Lisa
  7. I work for a small company and they took us to Pegasus at the Meadowlands Race Track for our Christmas party. I'd never bet on the horses before but I had a blast and won a few hundred dollars. How about something like that? But then again, I'm always up for a trip to Dave and Busters. Have fun.
  8. "I couldn't get any penetration" That always raises an eyebrow in whuffo land.
  9. My dad's a teacher. He once had a student named Ophelia Rass and another time a student named Arshit. You can't make this stuff up.
  10. Do a search on the internet and contact their corporate office. I used to work as a retail manager and any customer that took the time to contact the home office was serviced very quickly. Explain the situation, make a little noise or even write a "polite yet firm" letter to the president of the company. That usually does the trick. Good luck.
  11. Bwahahahahaha..... I used to work retail and one time a black woman came in trying to return an item that had been stolen a couple of days before. I refused the return and after a few minutes discussion she called me "stupid honkey bitch!" As indignantly as I could, I said, "Excuse me but I prefer to be called Cracker!" She was so shocked at my response she just stormed out leaving the items on the counter. Perhaps it's the same woman and she's just learned to be more PC about her insults.
  12. You have to read Falling Into Place by Rita Ippolitti. She enters skydiving close to age 40 and really really struggles. It's a great read full of hilarious accounts of her attempts to learn to skydive over 3 summers and several different programs at a number of different dropzones.
  13. I joined a sorority in college for many of the same reasons you are thinking about. After a ridiculous pledge process where many of the "sisters" went on a huge power trip, I ended up with a bad case of mono and failed two classes that semester. Once pledging was over, I immediately went inactive. In fact, if I wasn't so sick on Hell Night I would have quit right then and there. I didn't need to be bullied and submissive to have friends. I only chose to attend certain events. After all, I never figured out the relevance of marching around Newark airport in a diaper wearing leopard ears with drunken "sisters" screaming at you. How does that build a lifelong bond of trust and friendship? I don't like being told what to wear, how to act and who to be friends with so I guess being in a sorority wasn't really right for me. Fifteen years later, I am not in touch with any of my "sisters" but I still have many of the good friends I made in college prior to pledging. Friends are people who like you for who who are and not for the level of bullshit you are willing to tolerate as a means of proving yourself worthy. Like JT says - stick to skydiving and find some other passions. You will make friends that way. Good Luck!!
  14. LOL... I learned how to type in the 9th grade on an electric typewriter which wasn't as state-of-the-art as the very modern electronic typewriters. We still had a few manuals in the class and had to switch so everyone good use the "new equipment." However, that was back in the day when we had a few computers in school and you downloaded everything via a cassette and cassette player type thingy that was hooked up to it. OMG - Am I really that old????
  15. What a sweetie. Here are mine. Alexander and Anya. They're Bernese Mountain dogs. They jump three feet in the air and spin everytime I come home. They also like fresh grated Romano cheese on their food.
  16. In no particular order.... 1. Murphy Brown 2. Everybody Loves Raymond 3. Frasier 4. All In The Family 5. Happy Days 6. Laverne and Shirley 7. Cheers 8. I Love Lucy 9. The Dick Van Dyke Show 10. Friends
  17. You're right. Nothing phases New Yorkers. A few months ago I was walking to work and walking up a side street. Sure enough there was a guy standing on the corner masturbating for all to see. No one batted an eyelash then either. How are you enjoying NYC? I recommend Burrito Loco on West 4th (off 6th Ave) for great margaritas and nachos.
  18. Okay. You're ODD AND WEIRD but it's no problem - we love you anyway.
  19. I'm definitely with ya on one of those. . . I'd have to go with Happythoughts. He's witty and oh-so damn sexy.Quote I'll agree with you on that. Happythoughts is my favorite poster. Remster is a close second.
  20. Of course. Like a fine wine - they get better with age.
  21. There are 36 foot taps during the theme song at the beginning of each My Three Sons episode. ----------------------------------------------------------- now THAT is truly useless triviaQuote ROFLMAO, Hey - You asked, I answered.
  22. There are 36 foot taps during the theme song at the beginning of each My Three Sons episode. I know, I'm pathetic.
