  8. Hi Bernie, Fear factor for who ; you or your daughter? She will have to complete at least 25 jumps and demonstrate basic skills to become a licenced skydiver. Is she comfortable with that... ? BTW, I know of no, "full skilled" skydivers, however many of the best started static line years ago when thats all there was... -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!

  14. Thanks for the feedback. I still haven't attempted taking off the strap and handle or drilling any holes just yet.... I just haven't had the time to focus on this project. I think I'm just about ready to begin... any other helpful hints/tips? -links to other threads perhaps? 16. On my way to the workbench with my pc330, Optic and BH d-box.... I freaked out! First, what do I do with the hand-strap and the grip handle? How do you take that stuff off the camera? Second, lining up holes ? How do you mark the first hole as a drilling point with the camera in the box? Third, but probably should be first is, marking the tripod screw location for drilling out the bottom of the box for the base screw. Any tips or what-not would be greatly appreciated. . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
  17. I have gladly split the ticket to get a porter up on a few occasions. Never w/a DZO or DZO kid/etc.. on board however It just aint right. Especially if he/she/they know sombody's paying for the spot just to get the plane up. -He better be buying beer after the jump! -Dammit!! This doesn't relate to your question in essence but, I have been so often stuck grounded because of minimums, I could barf! Wierd how things work out though, because out at Eloy the only people jumping one morning were an Airspeed 4-way and another team, they did like 12 loads that morning on the Otter, a few of them were just me and the other five jumpers. Weird... I felt redeemed for all the loads lost by only one or two jumpers. . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
  18. My humble thanks boss, I had grown very weary of the 'old' format, I had even posted as such on occasions. No offense intended. It is a privilege I honor to particiapte in this community. I applaud your vision. Oh yeah, I hope you get the case of beer this time... . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
  19. In the interest of privacy I won't publish the original e-mail I received from another dz.commer on this subject, but this was my reply: "I have a very similar attitude about the USPA actually. Also, I expect that the USPA Letters and Viewpoints Department is due for a deluge of feedback on that article. I am well aware of the political environment at the propoganda factory, LOL!! I'll be interested to see what they choose to publish... I totally agree with you about the grain of salt thing! However, I still maintain my opinion that the questionnaire is worthy of some merit. The reason is, I am really concerned about the campaign to encourage wing-load and high performance flight restrictions. Its my belief that there are way too many newer/less skilled canopy pilots that are are drawing focus on this issue due to canopy-related incidents. An example of how this has affected me personally is that my home dz, SD Chicago, now has a 1500 jump minimum to use the primary landing area!!! Hinkley has a 300 HP minimum to use the swoop lane (that I don't mind of course because it keeps traffic down for me). As you point out, its important to keep the questionnaire conclusions in perspective. I'm not losing any sleep over it but I do wish more people would be more considerate of how they're screwing it up for everybody else. If the target audience, "high-risk cowboys" think that they are immune from serious peril, they will likely be the first to discount the article. [I am reluctant to discredit the article in ANY way primarily because I don't want to give support to opposing arguments against the credibility of the questionnaire] In the final analysis, I think the article has more credibility than the pilots who have delusions of grandiosity. Its kind of a cool way to get the attention of some of them though!!! Thanks for the message , -Doug p.s. I think I might copy ths mail to my thread... LOL!!! " . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
  20. I had some consternation regarding that particular aspect as well. Concerning that it should be well considered by the author of the article that the only mfr that offers a cookie-cutter size less 1sq foot is Icarus. I wondered if my canopy, the xf2, was specifically targeted? . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!

    Handcuff usage

Serves you right!!! You sound like just the type of naughty person that needs to find out just how they can be used recreationally. (for training purposes only) Perhaps being a captive student might make you much less naughty? . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
  22. I'm sorry man its too loong for me to type and I looked it up for you the other day on the USPA website but the most recent issue was January... . -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
