  1. no doubt -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  2. seems like a katana at 500-600 isn't a great idea for anyone, just my two cents though, cuz wtf do i know... even my sabre loaded at 1.6 dives enough to get you into trouble should a low alti maneuver come when you least expect it and it isn't even ellip. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  3. Trust me person - I have many morals and I do have a backbone, go read through some of my posts over the past few yars - THUS the reason IM STAYING OUT OF IT. It has NOTHING to do with me. All I would be able to add is DJAN and Skratch have both been wonderful people to me, nothing more, nothing less. PS now that Im a father, I barely even have any friends in skydiving anymore. Regardless, I favor what is right, not what makes me popular. Don't pretend to know me by one post or even at all since I don't know you - the internet is shit for that type of thing. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  4. I'm lazy so I haven't read this whole post, but if this guy is pist at Skratch, get a life guy. Skratch is perhaps the most giving skydiver still around today. Edit - read it, staying out of it. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  5. There are farmer McNasty's everywhere - its a pseudonym. I've seen them a quite a few dzs. Not only the one in Brush, but Longmont as well as other places as well. I wonder who first thought up the term Farmer McNasty cuz I've heard it in about 6 states now... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  6. That rox - thx! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  7. amen -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  8. I'd like to see your source of that information as I've heard bowling is - no shit. Of course, I have no source... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  9. More people than just Clinton have been to depositions. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  10. Fuck vail resorts and all that they represent. Hi we are going to charge 71 dollars for a lift ticket. GO SHANE! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  11. To me the actual jump is relatively safe - alot safer than the backcountry skiing and snowboarding I do on a regular basis, or even mtn biking to me - those have much higher a chance of body trauma per second I participate in them. I think the ride to altitude is pretty unsafe, I think canopy flight can be pretty unsafe when you get abunch of non-pivoting-heads in the air, which seems to be the case more and more and more... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  12. 3d studio max and photoshop for me! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  13. I've heard nothing but negative about them. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  14. I fully agree with you Nick - my statements would be in the perfect world... We dont live in the perfect world. As much as I'd like to see parks stay really locked down, I must admit, I'd also like to see alot of my friends get accesss... My question is - if Bridge Day is approved by the NPS (not sure if this is the case) and events like Colorado's Royal Gorge can occur, I think its high time BASERs UNITE and get the NPS to do exactly what you say - approve a week long BASE week for these parks. If you were to control the week and the access, then you could lay down a good set of ground rules on lzs and access points. Most of the basers I know respect nature quite heavily and I wouldn't see them breaking the rules... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  15. My only point was that I follow the exact same procedure every single time I pack. I've packed about 4000 times now approx with no mals. I never allow myself to get distracted during packing and follow it through to the final closure... I'm sure you realize all of this though - just glad you are aight! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  16. You are correct, I just tend to lump them all together when it comes to usage since they all are federally funded accessible lands... My point is, I want my parks to stay as close to their original state as possible which is really only attainable by keeping traffic as limited as possible. Just my opinion... National Park Service A federal agency whose mission is "...to promote and regulate the use of the...national parks...which purpose is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations." -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  17. Just don't take your lines and pass them around the bag. Normal packing procedure calls for placing the bag into the container the step after placing the canopy in the bag. If one does that and doesn't mess around with the lines, one can avoid the lineover you describe... If you just put the canopy in the bag and close it up and then RIGHT after that put it into the container without taking lines and moving them around (why would you move lines around after the bag is packed anyhow) then you will be safe... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  18. See that is a really tough call, but as I do work in the environmental science field, I tend to really lean towards a very conservative view in terms of national park usage based on what I've learned over the past few years. Although - I think everyone should have access to all National Parks at all times as long as it is ON trail and as long as they bought a park pass. You have to understand the basis for designating an area a National Park - the whole basis is to keep the area as close to its original state as can be. There are tons of outside forces that drive that though. I think this is one of the reasons you see what you see in Yosemite as well as other very popular Parks such as Yellowstone. Look at all of the man made stuff in Yellowstone. That stuff really irritates me, but at the same time, if those shops aren't there, you don't get the visitor numbers and you dont get the income you need to keep a park like that running.... Dex - I fully understand what you are saying about Yosemite and disagree with alot of that stuff as well. I want my National Parks to all be like Canyonlands in Utah which has very little "additions" to it - but obviously, that isn't the "perfect" world we live in. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  19. "Yes I knew Keith was talking about Berthoud Pass." Sorry man I was really replying to sky1. Edit - and since I've never ground launched, I can't really comment with any kind of authority on alti... My bad. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  20. Nikon F series are by far my favorite film based bodies. Amazing cameras - you'll find alot of professional photographers use this particular body line. IMHO Nikon lens optics are very nice as well... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  21. I'm personally not a big fan of allowing much more than hiking in national parks to be honest with you. They are meant to be kept as "original" as possible in terms of environment - the more usage, the more impact, the more impact, the less the park is like its original environment. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  22. He means Berthoud Pass. Elev of 11,300. Great place with many short hikes to backcountry powder - lots of low risk stuff in terms of av danger. It actually begins about 500 below treeline or so, but it is definately up there... You know something that would be very cool - there are tons of bowl type formations around colorado - like Loveland pass for instance. Could you ground launch off the lip of one of those bowls? Those are popular huck spots for skiers and snowboarders in the winter - alot of the edges approach 40-50 feet drop offs... Probably too high in terms of alti... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. Yah that would be a tuffy if you continuously check your lines throughout the pack job. I know I do... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. I've not used an alti for about 3 years (400 + jumps). No one really ever said anything to me at 4 different DZs. My wife just bought me a Neptune for Christmas though so I'll be wearing an alit again... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  25. This is a great video - triax always puts out good product!!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
