  1. No offense but seeing a video and working to reach a point of self-reliance are two completely seperate walks of life. Shit, I saw this video of this 12 year old kid doing a 80 foot long 900 on a snowboard. I've been riding for 10 years. Afterwords, the guy had bitches all around him. Can I go bust a 80 foot gap 900 and get the bitches? Nope. The video sure made it seem easy though. Even hiking in utah can get you killed. Read about Michael Kelsey and his famed guidebooks. Utah is perhaps the most beautiful place on earth imho, but it is as dangerous as it is beautiful whether its hucking, hiking, riding or wheeling. It is rather easy to get hurt in the red stone land. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  3. No offense but that seems a bit like all of the Porsche Twin Turbo driving moms I see in Cherry Creek that haven't the slightest clue that what they are driving can challenge the most advanced car driver in the world. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  4. Couldn't disagree more. I can go to my wind tunnel at lunch and get 10 minutes of practice A DAY. I don't live close enough to my DZ to do that. Also - look at the business model and LOCATION of the new colorado wind tunnel. I can all but gurantee you, that tunnel will draw from the rich local clientel that may not even jump. Lone tree is perhaps one of the more prominent hoods in all of colorado... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  5. Man who cares is the tunnel ready? -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  6. off topic but i have this exit on video - a three way sit of us. i tell the solo sit behind me give us 10 seconds on that particular day given the winds etc. in the video, i count THREEEEEEE and see him exiting. 3. three. We discussed it needless to say once on firma. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  7. You'd be suprised - from my jazz and classical background, most people CAN'T count to ten and be within 15 percent of the actual 10th second. Counting is tough to do, especially when the least bit of adrenaline is involved. Simply put, COUNT SLOW (-: -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  8. No offense, but fifty aint shit - if you get my drift. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  9. I can vouch for the winds - I live about 15 miles west south west of boulder at 9000 feet. the wind got REAL loud that night, i mean, FREEFALL loud. strange thing is, i was walking around my property that night checking things out and had to use poles in addition to my snowshoes just to stay upright. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  10. Just the fact that you can express what you've expressed does two things - it expresses respect and gratitude that your lost mates can see and sense from beyond the grave and two, it exhibits the excellence you've achieved in life in the area of emotinal expression. You, and I don't know you, are an exceptional person. I too have lost three friends through various airborn activities over the years and I too feel your pain just about every day of my life. Since then I've started a family and changed my gears in life. The one thing I realize from both my old gearing and my new is that EVERY DAY in life is precious and the people that fill these days are even more precious. Thank you for again reminding me of this. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  11. It was a bit of a joke. Heck, I hardly drink at all anymore now that I'm a dad. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  12. Is drinking and tunelling frowned upon hehehehehehehehehehehehe..... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  13. This repost is ruining my day. All reposts ruin my day. Everything ruins my day. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  14. Yah C don't get me wrong - I'm with you about 99 percent of the time with bike riding. I have alot of acquaintances that have no business riding a bike, or any motorized vehicle for that matter. That has always been one thing that most of my base acquaintances have impressed me with is their proactive approach to controlling the elements whereas in all honesty, I see that very little in the two wheeled world... One of the many reasons I don't ride anymore myself. I also have poor luck on motorized vehicles, I'd prefer to just get out and jump (-: -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  15. "I say there are no accidents in motorcycling " That is not true at all. I have a buddy that was sitting at a stoplight and got rear-ended out of nowhere - two broken legs and an arm to boot. Completely unpreventable unless he had just stayed home for the day. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  16. I know twice as many dead riders as base jumpers if that makes any difference. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  17. Figures, I work 3 miles from the tunnel and I just find out today we are moving to lakewood... oh well, we still have a tunnel in CO which is freaking great... i wonder if i can bring my one year old daughter to it. she'll be able to throw around her aff instructors whenver she gets to that point hehehehe... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

  19. I think there is a pretty simple explanation to the "black magic" you all know very well - most of the time, the progression in base is controlled through a mentor. The basic fabric of the sport is the mentor based progression and not many get around that progression. Its a strange sport in this sense, most sports can be approached without such a fence to climb - and without someone to help you get on top of it. I think that lends to the people and history that comes with base. It is almost one of the few sports left where historical precedence still drive the way things occur in the sport and I for one am very impressed by that - not to mention the folks that keep the flame alive. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I'm confused ???????? I don't care what you participate in, if you get hurt, it isn't a good thing. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  22. Mark Kruse docked on me under canopy when I had 13 jumps. Great guy. Full of amazing knowledge. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  23. Time for a revolution on a scale larger than most can fathom. Just do it. Seems the sport is either at the crossroads or rapidly approaching. So many new faces, so little time... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  24. Most clickers I've used are inferior in back country situations due to the powder. That could be trouble if trying to cut away from them and they stick, as they do have a tendancy to do both going in and coming out sometimes. I know they've come along way, but I still prefer the straps just for ease of entry and exit on a deep deep day... Does this pertain to base? dunno, something to ponder tho... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
  25. No doubt about it... I just saw it last night and almost drove off 470 LOL. I told my one year old daughther Ryan about it, she is stoked... She said watch out for the up and coming rattttt... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
