  3. "We can't protect them from life" I had to sit back and let that one sink in for awhile. We can't protect them from life, which is true, my little bro has about 45 jumps now, and I still am playing the big sis, always will I know it, even though I trust his judegement, I don't want to see him get caught up in a jump and forget safety, because that's in essence what happens. Bringing your kids at the dz helps, they see human nature at its best, helping, when something happens they learn to pull together, and not run. And they also learn to cherish the human spirit, before it is taken away. I've noticed jumpers appreciate either verbally or through hugs, love and how grateful and happy they are just because of others pressence, regardless of how they look. I think it would be hiding your children from something positive and a shame if you kept them away from it...so my hats off to the parents who bring the kids out! **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  4. special tricks...hmmm...I can make my toes touch my head when...y aknow like an overly arch position lol. Ummm....my tongue instead of just the reverse or teh one taco roll thingy I can make three rolls in my tongue...although I have to take out my tongue ring to do it. ...dang i think thats all of them...lol i rode the little bus too, does that count??? **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  5. Slappie, congrats! My little brother just was published in the Parachutist for his A lisence, he's number 38500, and so what did big sis do but frame it lol makes his sister so damn proud! My little sister should be in an upcoming Parachutist, even though shes 15...lol ok well it was for the accomplishments or the wings thingy part, for Elsinore they were taking pix of someone and grabbed her they were short babes at the dz, actually i think we were the only chicks there lol.Anyways, that's awesome that you have you're number....it's a rad feeling! Congrats again **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  6. Thank you for the offer for the exam!!! Everyone should be doing a monthly check...yeah that means guys can do it to their girlfriends or spouses. Even a comment being joked around like that one believe it or not helps....might have reminded someone, hey I haven't given myself an exam lately, I should do it. That is the whole point in making everyone aware....with pink ribbons someone may ask you, well what's it for? Bingo that's your shot, your bit of sharing and passing along the awareness torch. Jokes and all... it is all for the cause, for a cure, for life. Me personally it makes me want to live more, think of all the jokes and laughs I'd be missing if I were gone. **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  7. Hey everyone! I hope this finds everyone safe and well and under some blue skies! I wanted to remind everyone that October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal is to obviously make people more aware of this, and come together to find a cure. I hope all of you jumpers are already aware that the skydiving community is doing another Jump for the Cause, it will be in October 2002. For information on how to try out or help to start fundraising for the event you can go to www.square1.com and there's a Jump for the Cause link you will find on the site, that will give you oodles of info. There are so many other ways, not just skydiving that we can help bring awareness, There's Race for the Cure, a 5 k walk/run, held in cities throughout the nation to help in this race for life. It's something a whole family can do, and it's 5k, it's not bad, anyone can do it!!!! Ok ok, so some of us can not jump or run...ok simple, we can donate! There's so any ways as well. For the whole month of October you can pick up a scarf from Macy's from the Ford motor Co. for 12 bucks and sport it for support. or order online at www.macys.com If you save the labels from Yoplait yogurt and send them in yoplait will donate 10 cents per lid to the Susan B. Komen Foundation. American Express is donating a portion of charges made for the cause as well, there's along list of stores that apply. Wearing denim on October 5th for Lee National Denim Day and donating $5 to the Susan B. Komen Foundation in help to stand, to wear them blue jeans to help fight breast cancer. www.denimday.com There are so many different ways I could fill up all the rooms in these forums really...so I would say to check out some of these sites! www.breastcancerinfro.com or www.cancer.org www.komen.org those are just a few, I'm sure you guys and gals see what I'm getting at, we can all pitch in somehow, someway, we can make a difference, just don't wait to help out because you don't know anyone personally whose died or who has been fighting this. It's like passing up the person on the side of the road with a flat when you have the extra 5 minutes to help them out... we can make a difference! So remember to wear the pink ribbons in October!!! LOVE YA ALL! **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P

  17. With all due respect Kelly....when you refered to "bad shit" it makes my heart grow sad. We are all here on this planet for so long. I hope tO God no one says or refers to me dying as bad shit.....yes it hurts, but wouldn't be worth it if it was easy. We will all die, and grow closer to it everyday....it is not bad shit that someone died...regardless of how...it's a blessing that the life was shared. Yes there will always be times where there are frantic phone calls...and then we remember how precious life is, but we need to remember how precious it is before we get taken back home. You brought up a good point that if it was the other prop jumpers lives could have been lost and the lives of the pilots...but why do we need to wait until a prop comes off to remember that.... It's always sounded so morbid to some people when I say I'm dying, or when I come back from the doctor and he says that I am dying....and I am. But while I'm dying I'm living, and taking it all in. That's what it is all about. **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  18. AOL: freeflyplaymate dang like thats a hard one lol **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  19. If anyone finds out the name of the guy who was in hi smid 20's will you PLEASE let me know, one of my buddies left about a month ago to Australia...well first to New Zealand, from his agenda he should still be in New Zealand...although he said he was going to be in Australia after he was there for a couple months...just anyone if ya get his name, tell me it isn't Jim. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends of the lives lived who are really flying now.... **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  20. Thanks Michele I really did need that laugh, nope my ass is grounded..HELP ME!!! It's worse than being at school on rainy day schedule, you know when ya couldn't go out on the playground, except this rain may last longer, tears always do **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  21. Ann... you know it's weird you should have that post, I just went over to Elsinore today because I missed everyone...I brought some flowers and candy, and it was so rad, cuas esome of my friends were there, but weird having perfect blue skies and not one plane overhead....twighlight zone... **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  22. I can't skydive, I can't fly, and my camera got stolen today and yet for some reason I have this incredably cheesey smile on my face, like the one I get when I am freefalling, or when I am flying, or hamming it up in front of the camera....and I am like dancing around my house like a freak of nature, which I probably am, wait, yes I am lol. I've been hearing all of these tapes and stories about people's last words and phone calls over the last week and realized that they just wanted to love and live, and wish everyone else the same. I don't know if anyone else has their own like theme song, one that just makes their soul dance that you just cant help it so your body so it dances on it's own. But I hope where ever you are to just like yell outside or dance or sing at the top of your lungs, what I'm trying to say, gee I'm bad at this here's the rambling again hehehe...to live and love and go with it...I wish everyone the best seriously. And I know it's tough cause we're grounded but if you stick your hand out the window when your driving it helps! Last Tuesday was a reality, the people who we have never met can make a difference....and even though I have met some of you guys/girls...and most I haven't...I want to say that I do love all of you!!! It's like a very huge extended family...now don't go expecting Christmas gifts...I think that'd make me broke....but I hope that all of you know how very special you are. And I just hope that ya dance and yell and giggle like hell under your canopies...cause dude we get to skydive, how cool is that!!! Anyways, have a good one everyone!!!! **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  23. lol yeah like I'm going to do a bandit jump naked lol indecent exposure!!!! Anwyas, I'm doing my training out of Chino airport, there's a new aeronautical school there, well it's two years old...and is more anal on procedures, which I am actually glad about. Talk about a trip getting inside of rinky Chino airport though. Only one gate is open and you have to be on a list to get in, and then they take down your drivers lisence number and lisense plate as well. You know in a very weird way I almost felt special, I'm like that's right I'm on the LIST...top secret covert operation to get my ratings lol...and there was like this line of students to get in too...like were all some secret service people...you can see I haven't been in the air in awhile. AND cool thing another jumper is int he class, or one that isnt current by like 8 yrs but he used to be an instructor over at Elsinore back in the day, I was like dude it's changed just since I've been there you'd flip if you saw it. I have a mission!!! Well no tonly to get them back into the air, but several students caught in on my jumping stories...I think I can get some of them to jump....Go Marissa Go Marissa!!!! Oh yeah and then to top off my night at school I stop by the store for some milk COMPLETELY forgettting about my little sony camera in my jeep (wrangler) oh yeah I came home and partked it int he garage, came upstairs fed the cat and was like oh no I knwo that baby is gone, yep...geee makes me love fellow Californians so much more!!!! you kno wmy 8th grade teacher always had a saying i thought was funny, that's the way it goes, first your money then your clothes lol and yo uknow I thought about that and every other funny quote people tell me and I'm not as ticked as I thought I'd be, although it was a rad camera, it did have night vision gggggggggggrrrrrrrrr **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  24. On a lighter note, IF in fact skydiving was banned...anyone for some bandit jumps? We'll have to start hanging out with all of the BASE jumpers...making a run for it, everyman/and woman for themselves!!! no really though, I would hope that skydiving wouldn't be shut-down even for a brief period, although it is now, and the sound is deafening, no canopies, no planes...makes me cry constantly on the inside. Go figure I'm going to class in a few minutes for aviation, so I can fly with the big dogs, and yet I can't fly....maybe it's a good thing, makes me study harder, not like I can fly anyways right now, just in my dreams. **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
  25. oh, ouch, tea is too hot!! lol k sorry bout that. Ok, wow lol I am fine, really. To your thinking outloud conversation...I understand it is not a question in which I have the answers. However I'm about ready to sound like an old lady...and I'm assuming we are around the same age sis, I'm 22...not sure about you, you look young though. Yes we as young jumpers AND being young female jumpers, have alot of oppurtunities, one can look at how much more time we may have skydiving since we started young...although I believe everyone in skydiving isn't mentally over 12, lol myself included. I took a semester off and devoted it purely to jumping, every weekday...I like the mellow crowds, that and the plane was steadily going up so it wasn't bad. I only took reading materials and read all of these spiritual, get to know yourself books, there's nothing more relaxing that reading and hearing planes go up and canopies open. I loved it, although I've always loved the dropzone, I was brought up around jumpers so to me it has always been home. So I decide to go to my very first boogie...and first time getting on a plane, and going halfway around the world to a different country as well. For me, very very huge steps...I solo decided to go on a trip, I decided to go to the Malindi boogie in Kenya. Totally awesome, and so spiritual and gosh it was so beautiful there. We climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and I got to see the sun rise through clouds and it was just truly amazing, beach landings, everything! Where am I going with this hmmm I ramble so sometimes I don't even know, but bare with me. There is not one jump where I don't have this incredably huge cheesey smile on my face, and am realizing that it will more than likely always be like that, it never dulls, or hasn't yet for me. I've thought the very same, life wouldn't be so bad waking up to this, the sound of planes, being at the dropzone. But that's the dreamer inside of me as well, the chances of actually having Christmas everyday, to me seems so awesome, but I know in my heart since I'm human I will take it for granted. And I do not ever want that feeling. As much asI may sound like your mother, before you choose to switch gears, think about it in the long term picture. What happens if you get burned out on it, and I know it's ahrd to imagine but it does happen, or the inevitable comes up, life, tragedy...in a world where we are making it more kaotic, I know our reaction is to go where it is seemingly peaceful, to our Graceland (thats for you Elvis!) our dropzone, to be back in that sky. I'm not saying don't go for it..do it take time off, I will never ever regret taking time off to jump everyday, the best time, it was truly a blessing. Just stay in school, work the back up plan, what if heaven forbid you lost your vision? Or some other "what if". Sometimes we fixate on things...and say I love it, I love it, and then everything around, everything else gets smaller...and "unimportant" as we think. But when we put that much faith in things, on one thing, when it goes wrong, we aren't grounded. I landed crosswind a few weeks back on my new rig, pissed me off lol, and I was asked well what happened...I was like duh!!! Hi didn't you see my dumbass I kept looking at the flag saying don't land crosswind! don't land crosswind! (we had had a crosswind incident the previous day) and so what did I do, fixate on that flag, and so as long as it was in my vision, I landed crosswind. Ok stop the rambling...GAG me!!! lol cuff me! lol just kidding sorry there! Anyways...basically what I'm saying is it's like a jock going to play pro ball without something to fall back on, what if ya got hurt? I know full handedly that I learned more going to Africa then my friends did reading about it, but there is alot we can learn from college. And even if you got a basket weaving degree, it means one thing, that you can be taught, and you can take that anywhere and say hey look teach me and I will learn. I know you can use skydiving int he same analogy and I would agree, but not everyone sees it the same. Just try not to fixate, because sometimes when we do that, we don't see all the other doors of oppurtunity...only the one, and if it closed, you would feel liek you have nothing, and I wouldn't ever want anyone to remotely have that feeling, ever.... I used to say I didn't like vegetables....funny thing is I never tried them before, turns out they're good for me too. If only one thing in life makes you happy, then are you really happy afterall? **BLUE ONES** BITE ME.... :P
