  1. Will wingsuit pilots with other brand wingsuits be welcome to join in the skills camp? Sounds great! What's the cost to register?
  2. I just set up my Bonehead mudflap altimeter mount. Very nice looking mount. I had to locate and drill 4 holes to screw the altimeter to the mount, which took about 5 minutes. For those of you that have them, are you removing them each time you pack? Seems like a lot of potential damage to the mount/altimeter if you don't.
  3. Ahhhhh Don't do that! The hub is in Moss landing.... whew...
  4. Oh, they're not all for me! Still not heree...
  5. Every car that dives by, every door that slams... must be the FedEx guy. I have two neptunes and two of those cool Bonehead mudflap mounts for my analog altimeters coming today... Fedex site says they're "on vehicle for delivery" How many times can I walk to that window? Oohh... I think he's here....
  6. Just order a wingsuit. Each day will seem to take forever. And, its only been a week.
  7. Trying to get in touch with Dave Wright ( of Wright Brothers Skydiving) from Oregon. If anybody could pass on his contact information that would be really appreciated. Thanks!
  8. That's all stuff that any reasonably talented BASE jumper could show him in about half an hour. If the original poster were to simply ask a local BASE jumper, one with terminal BASE experience, for a little help, I'm willing to bet he'd be given information that would help him do the jumps he wants to do... ...or he can be given blanket advice that's not accurate. So, is it better that he believe that the only safe way to jump a freepacked rig is to dump at low airspeed? Or would he be better off with a little education about the way the BASE canopy behaves and then let him decide for himself? I can "shoehorn" that canopy into a skydiving rig and still be confident that its going to behave just fine at terminal. Its a very simple problem of properly sequenced deployment. That's really all it takes to open a BASE canopy at terminal. There's no BASE black magic involved. He just has to know a couple key things to be aware of, and pack accordingly. Remember the saying, "If you build a man a fire he's warm for a few hour, but if you light a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life." or wait... that's not right, is it?
  9. So not true... at all... The desirable qualities of a BASE canopy are to open consistently, open on heading, and open every time. Consistency is the most desirable quality for a BASE canopy. Fast openings are not the point. The purpose of a BASE canopy is to slow you down before your freefall trajectory intersects with the earth. I can assure you that free-packed BASE canopies, when properly configured for the airspeed at the intended deployment time, open just fine. You can make them open faster or slower if you want, you just need to understand what changes have what effects.
  10. Wow Dewey... I really wish I would have taken him up on his offers to do some CRW.... He was definitely a central figure at the dropzone. Sad to hear he passed.

I will be in the orange tent furthest from the Space Station tent. Excited Avery? This is going to be cool... Edited to add picture of Space Station...
  13. BASE jumping in Baffin Island requires that teams in that area carry sufficient firepower to kill agressive Polar bear. Lee and I are both taking trips up there this year.
  14. No, he means real bacon. The good to eat stuff. Yo Tim, thanks for bringing me coffee in bed this morning.
  15. This is a cool one from my trip up there. Sam Ford is such an immense place, it's not suprising we didn't run into each other up there. More Here

Hey Matt, what diameter jump line do you need? I have a couple ropes hanging out that could be used. Pm me.
  17. The Bushnell Yardage Pro has been serving BASE jumpers well for a long time. Choose how much you want to spend, what features, and get the model that you like. I think lasers are not necessary items for BASE jumpers, but if you buy one, you'll wonder how you got by without it. I know when I got mine I drove around and lasered everything. Now it stays in my car so there's no, "hmmm... I wonder how tall that thing is....?" One interesting game to play is to try your best to estimate the height of an object before you laser it. Estimate as best you can, and then shoot it with the laser. Eventually, it will make you better at estimating heights and someday if you find yourself without a laser, your estimations will be closer.
  18. That aussie girl accent is CHEATING!!!
  19. Actually... PD makes the Ace and BlackJack canopies for Consolidated Rigging.
  20. We also experienced a massive amount of rockfall in Sam Ford this year. It's actually quite nice when you're safely camped on the ice well out of danger.
