  1. my 2 cents worth! i believe the use of comma's in your posting of the 2nd amendment is incorrect. in all the copy's of the constitution and amendments that i have read there is no punctuation in the 2nd amendment , except for the period at it's end. if it is read with-out punctuation, i believe, the intent becomes much more straight forward and clear. i do not claim to be an expert in constitutional law or the english langauge. i have, however, read the federalist papers by jefferson, and most of whats available on jefferson, b. franklin, patrick henry, etc...etc... in reading these works i have only one conclusion to put forward. and that is these great and forward looking and history respectful people were very affraid of the their countrymen not having any way to control an out of control governing body. they penned the 2nd amendment to ensure that the "constitution" would not be subjugated or subverted, it being the most important document ever worded by man! these are also my beliefs, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!

  3. i too am sitting on the fence about this also. after a few bad personal choices, a very close call with the ground, 1 very close friends death jumping, 2 really shitty DZO's (a term applied loosely to those of which i speak) and of course the turning prop, i have been laboring over that very same thing! my thoughts are this, if i sell my gear the chances of me getting back into "the game" would be slim at best. i think stepping back is the best answer for me, not out-right walking away. you don't have to make 500 or 1000 jumps a year to be a "skydiver". BUT, not being honest about your currency to jump is dangerous at best, and deadly at the worst. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!

  5. in 2003 i took a man on a tandem for his 82nd birthday. WE had a great time. he was up-beat and seemed to take it all in. he also said, as most tandem students do, that he would be back! i didn't give that any thought until i was told that i had been requested by a former student to TM again. i was hugely suprised and pleased to see this same man waiting for me in front of the loft! that jump was for his 83rd birthday and he asked if we could just fly the canopy less the free -fall ? we were in the air for about 15 mins. saw a couple of DC-9's go by, touched a cloud or 2. that might be my favorite tandem to date! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!

  8. the phone was temporarily down because of a mailing error by BELL south. it is up and running now. the web site is up also, skydivenawlins.com we are jumping a C-182 from Tecumseh at the moment. the airport has been majorly up-graded in the lasat few years and is getting another 1000 ft. we are at the Slidell airport at the end of airport rd. just up the street from the mall, just off of interstate 12. drive in past the tie-down ramp area up to the T-hangers, we are on the far left. currently we are out there only on a reservation basis. most of the staff is driving about 80 miles to get to the dz and if there isn't work to do we have a hard time driving there each day. Sooooooooo........... if you want to come out and see some of the most beautiful landscape around and jump with some pretty cool people, just give us a call and see what we can do for you. call 888- SKYDIVR peace, brent ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  9. man, i have been telling people for years that margerine is only one molecule different than plastic. and like many other things that i read about and try to pass on, people just stare blankly and then act like i just saw ET ! the american public has this ingrained belief that if it's on the market that it must be safe. o our government is only required to answer the questions that WE ask of them ! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  10. go with it bud !!! my girl is 19 and i'm 39, have a field day with that ! we just really like being with each other and we really have a bunch in common. i said awhile back that i wouldn't have a relationship again with someone that young, but, here i am again. this time though, there is much more ease to the whole situation. if you both can deal, then drive on! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  11. i started out doing the same thing, after a shitload of really hard openings and one exceptionaly hard opening that broke 3 lines , i made sure that i slowed as much as safely possible. peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!

  13. i appologize for the re-appearance of this thread , again, but here it is. jeff i don't feel like i owe anyone an appology for anything. as for "continuing to come out and jump" if you look at the manifest record it shows that the only jumps i've made there since june have been tandems. why only tandems? becuase junior, ron, rex, and hummit all asked me to help with the tandem load. there seems to be a sudden lack of instructors . there are always those that lend a hand and those that stand around and bitch. i don't care for this thread to continue, but if it must so be it. almost anyone should feel free to pm me to continue away from the prying public eye. peace, brent ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  14. i was just thinking about this series a few days ago. i remember really enjoying these books then, and i certainly want to read the now. the first book did start a little slow as jeff said, but somewhere along the way it became almost impossible to put them down, long may the power of white gold reign! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  15. no, WA WA is a small town on the northeastern shore of lake superior, in ontario, canada. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  16. i know of some ducks unlimited researchers that have with a radar speed gun, clocked an entire flock of cavasback ducks at 67 miles per hour for more than a couple of miles. thats certainly not asa fast as a diving falcon, but they sure can haul ass and turn around a flagpole and not drop much speed. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  17. the mesmerizing, deep, thoughtful, beatiful eyes of my girl when she looks into my eyes and can say without uttering a word, that i am the man that she wants to be with! i'm getting dizzy at the very thought of it. i think my ability to put people at ease in just about any situation, might be my sexiest feature. i have had many compliments on my blue eyes also. peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  18. not that anyone really cares, but, there is a rumor at skydive tecumseh that i Brent Venable have quit skydiving. nothing could be farther from the truth. what i told a select few last saturday was that i would not jump at tecumseh anymore. that is for personal as well as other real concerns that i have. there are other dz's in michigan that i will frequent until i depart for warmer climates this fall. the duplicity and out right lies swirlling around tecumseh are enough to drive anyone away , and has to some extent. tecumseh was a special place for me that will never be equalled or replaced for me. iwill have excellent times at wherever i land , and that as they say is that !!!!! some recent staements on dz.com indicate that everyone is allways welcome there. but in mine and some other people i have spoken with's opinion, if you don't get on the good side of some of the regulars, the clique's, you probably would do better to keep searching for another dz. this statement by me will no doubt offend some folks there. to them i say they are quite possibly the cause of the problems that i elude to. my thoughts, not everyones by any strech. peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  19. i wrote that about the ARMY, not the total of U.S. forces! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  20. i stand corrected! yes it was legal pre- 1934 to own and operate a fully automatic weapon. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  21. thank you for the correction. i should have been more detailed in that statement to say, without a permit or licensing or registration ! the loop holes are getting smaller, but you are correct , a person with a Federal Firearms license can own and with very detailed permits fire an automatic weapon in the United States. and i am extremely well informed about what i speak and write! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  22. squeek you are right to correct me, i appollogize for being confrontational! you asked a legitimate question and got jumped on, i will do better in the future. it is a very personal and highly charged situation. and i feel that the man with the flowers would have traded them for a firearm! just my opinion. i believe those flowers were the only object he had at that moment in time. this of course WE will never know for certain. opinions are like assholes, we all have one, and they usually stink... the 800,000 legal and licensed hunters is more than double the standing U.S. army, not counting National gaurd and reserves or the other branches of service. and once again, i will purchase the weapons that I choose, not whats dictated to me. thank you and good day ! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  23. you should really inform yourself about what you speak of, before you speak of it! AUTOMATIC WEAPONS HAVE NEVER BEEN LEGAL for a UNITED STATES CITIZEN !! the laws have always been very clear on what that means, it means any weapon that has a sustained rate of fire with a single pull of the trigger. it doesn't say a big frightening STYLE of firearm ! and the temporary ban was a knee jerk reaction to an attempt on a U.S. president. the reason the ban was temporary was because OUR Constitution ( the single most important document ever worde by humans ) wouldn't allow the permanant infringement on MY rights as an AMERICAN ! do you think that Chinese man with the bouqet in Tiannaman square wouldn't have trade those flowers for the ability to slap the shit out of his government for treating his countrymen the way they have ??????? on November 15 of this year, there will be in the woods at the crack of dawn 800,000 Americans in the woods of Michigan with firearms. that one thought enables me to know without a trace of doubt that the U.S. will never be invaded and that my government ALWAYS remembers who the real authority is, the people ! there will be hand guns , rifles, shotguns ( semi-autos, double barrels, pumps, single shots ) flint-lockes, black powder guns, bows and arrows. but there will not be one fully automatic weapon. there will be thousands of military style weapons, but not a one will be capable of 600 rounds per min. the media would tell, lead you to believe otherwise. please open your eyes and actually research what the ban actually banned ! when the ban is lifted this month I fully intend to go out and spend several thousand dollars on weapons that I want, BECAUSE I CAN !!!!!!!!!!! thank you , and good night brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  24. i don't know you or your situation. try taking the responsibility for your speeding and pay the freakin ticket! you did it you know it, own up to it and be a decent citizen . maybe even save the taxpayers including yourself some money for filing fees, judges pay, secretaries pay, cops time in court instead of on the streets catching more people like yourself doing things that the people of this once great land passed laws against. the speed laws are not in place to "keep you down " with that, i wish you luck in life. peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  25. yes i have. i'm not especialially proud to say that, but neither am i ashamed of it either. i'm not implying you were, just a statement. i know some jumpers that hunt, and most of the meat eaters at the dz like the fruits of their kill. i don't feel the need to hunt anymore, maybe, i never did feel the need. but i did get very skilled at a clean and painless a kill as possible or else i would pass on the shot. final tally for brent, barring a mercy euthinasia: deer- 31, no real trophies, i really like the meat geese- probably around 200, the absolute best red meat on the planet ducks- ballpark 700 many species, my most admired pursuit for many years, they are amazing! rabbits, squirells, pheasants, grouse, woodcock, coyote....... i don't ever need to be the insturment of another creatures pain or death! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
