  2. there is a guy that jumps at tecumseh that used to have a bumper sticker that said "VAGINA'S are WAY COOL! he was given the nickname VAGINABOY, but now i think it's time for cocheese to forever more be called VAGINABOY! jeff that shit is funny as hell! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  3. it's part of my post-opening routine to get the students hands in the toggles as early as possible. i feel it gets them involved and maybe helps them back to reallity sooner. then at 1000' AGL i pick-up the secondaries and simply tell them that i'm driving from here on in. they never assist in the landing, it helps me maintain as much positive control as possible. i also set-up for a 90* toggle turn at about 100' to build up some speed for some really long swoops/butt slides. i try to not land in a standing position , as i beleive that leads to more TI broken or sprained lower limbs. this is what works for me and my student to ensure we both walk away. that certainly doesn't mean i think it's the only way, just that it's the safest for me. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  4. if it works , great! you have a ton of built-in obstacles and issues to over-come for it to work, i hope it will. i have had involvements with much youger women in the recent past, i'll be 39 on thursday, they were all in their low to mid twenties. never again, i repeat, never again will i try to date or have a relationship with a women thats more than a year or 2 younger that me. we really had nothing to talk about after the thrill of the sex and newness wore off, not their fault or mine. thats just how it worked out. brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  5. P.S. the tree in the spectator/packing area will never be the same, the leaves will actually grow back. the tree even seemed sad this weekend, i think it misses that smile too! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  6. standing around at tecumseh on saturday night i tried to listen to people tell their stories about Nate! there were some of his closest michigan friends! some were freeflyers of course, some were his initial jumpmasters, can you imagine being able to say you were Nathan Gilberts jumpmaster!!! even people who didn't neccessarily like some of the chances he took during his jumping and swooping. but they all had nothing but the fondest memories of the person that Nate was and strove to be. Nate, who i am proud to say was a friend, you will be missed and admired by everyone that you smiled at or laughed with.............. Nate, i expect that you will have all the angels tracking in no time, save a grip for me when i get there! peace, brent Ian and Jason and Katie, i hope you all know that you all are in everyones heart, grieve with frineds and share your pain, you have a world of friends to lean on! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  7. yes, you will have fun! the dz's closed on mondays, open all others mon thru fri 12:00noon till beer-thirty, dark, rain, what-ever sat and sun 9:00am wheels up till beer-thirty, dark, rain what-ever comes first you can always crash in the loft, ask david or ron, i'm sure they will offer. you can also stay in tecuseh at the tecumseh inn, tell them you want the skydiver discount it will be about 50$ on the week end and slightly cheaper during the week! you should call imeadiately if you want to stay at the inn, there is a nascar race in brooklyn, mich that weekend and might be booked up. you could buy a tent or maybe borrow one for a lot less money than the inn and stay on the dz. i'll see you there, be safe, and have a good trip here! i'll be the taller guy wearing mostly orange clothing, the other cat wearing orange is Sporto, just don't get your hands too close to his mouth!!!! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  8. so i'm scheduled to start another house as the general contractor in 10 days and i get a call from my customers, they want to meet. no problem, i expect lots of meetings with the people who i build for. during the meeting they inform me that due to economics and the current state of the economy that they want to postpone construction for up to 1 year. i thought the economy was doing ok, and even starting to improve. i lost quite a lot of my yearly income from their descion to hold off on the build. i will of course not starve, thats not my point. how has the recent state of the economy affected your life in general, (or in detail) ?? peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  9. like someone recently said to me, hey, business is business! sometimes you have to take a stand for what is best for your business. not sure it's what you had in mind though. peace, brent*** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  10. i only disconect the rsl when i will be landing in high winds! i have however, recently been considering jumping with it disconected. with that said, i had a mid- canopy line-over sat. morning that was spinning imediately and gaining speed. we were also facing up during the spin. this position did come to the front of my mind while reaching for the handles, but i left it intact. after the chop i watched the pilot-chute and bag arc away from the left and our spinning innertia gave me 1080 deg. of line twist on the reserve, no prob. there. my reason's for not taking the time to disconect the rsl are these; - i didn't beleive due to the spin that i would regain stability with choke-O the meat monkey - i was already at 3000ft agl (lots of alti loss from spin) i will forever-more continue to fly TANDEMS with the rsl conected. besides, i like to think (kid myself) that i can beat the rsl on a clean cut-away!! haha peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  11. thanks!! that really means a bunch! oh, by the way had another minor mal this afternoon, a broken B-line on the right side. i landed that one, and the cost to Ron is minimal this time. i must be getting them out of the way early! peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  12. yeh! that would definately count as a hell fish type dive. any chance that your going to the WFFC this year? if so, be sure to stop at the Flying Hellfish tent and see Bubba. or just about anyone that is around and talk over the very minor details of membership. they will get you an official membership card and probably drunk if you can hang out. peace, brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  13. OK, complete faith might have been a little over stated. just sort-of makes you wonder sometimes though! the free bag and pilot chute were less than 24 hours from being new out of the package, lost it to the lake. the main was in the water for a few hours also until a boat was found! my DZ'O was having a bad morning, to say the least. well off to find more new students and customers. peace! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  14. so i'm current, barely. and my 1st jump this morning , a tandem, has a mid-canopy line-over. this is my first tandem of the season mind you, and i'm in the saddle my passenger is mostly aware, and i'm almost laughing at the irony of it all! understand that i was completely aware and tuned to everything that was going on, but I was not ever really bothered by what was going on, just that i had to "Do" the required proceedures and my world would be OK! this was a hairy spinning (fast) situation, and it was almost like i was pulling over in the car because of a flat tire or something. am I officially crazy or something? how many of you guys or girls are that confident in their riggers, or your emergency proceedures? i ask this as a serious question, not to sound like a "skygod" or know-it-all. it just struck me, that i was never, repeat never, stressed during the whole ride! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  15. excellent !!! but not so excellent on turning down the chance with the knight's! don't ever turn down an invitation to jump with people that have more skill and experience! thats how you improve. and besides, if you would have screwed up the jump, they would have gotten to laugh at and with you about it. and to have the ability to funnel or take out a formation is THE #1 requirement to become a Flying Hellfish, which i beleive most of the Knights are already! have a blast!! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  16. i have said for some time now, " distance is a womans best freind!" i know that is not very nice! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  17. DUDE!! the sooner you can understand that 99.9 percent of jumpers are aproachable, the sooner your fun will go through the roof. YOU'RE A SKYDIVER NOW! just like the rest of us, you've got put yourself out there a little and see what happens at the DZ! that was a great idea Jeff, nice call! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  18. my fingers definately got away from me on that one. maybe you should apply your obviously educated critiques at just about every user on DZ,com thanks for pointing out MY mistakes! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  19. looking back on my life so far, i reallized that there have been no "perfect" situations in my life. there have been incredible periods so far! there have been times when nothing goes even remotely the way i would prefer. i have just emrged from one of the bad times and i am looking at all the doors that are now open, as was stated earlier here. when i'm in a bad time, it usually starts to get better only when I descide it's time to! and i rely on myself and only the very closest of friends for a shoulder! they are the friends that will help you move, or come get you out of jail, or just listen sometimes with-out making a point. do a little, or a lot, of soul searching and you will be able to identify the things or people that lift you to your good place. once you know what these are, then you know where you need to be! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  20. you reallized your mistakes and then made honest attemps at appollgizing, that is all you can do! the fact that the other person cannot accept is beyond your control! hold your head up and feel good about at least trying, the effort is sometimes the best reward. *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  21. i save all the really GOOD glues for "home use" lol i use daily; - wood glues - contact adhesives - polyurethane glues - alphetic resin glue - epoxy - cyanoacrylic glues ever smelled PVC glue? that should explain why plumbeers are always smiling and showing their coin slot!!!!!! NO! i'm not a plumber. *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  22. OK, OK!! i'm starting to get the picture here! i should stick to windows and just suck it up, or suck up to Bill Gates! you guys explaining OS's to me would be about the same as me trying to explain the diferences between all the different glues that i work with everyday! thanks again! brent *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  23. i'm not a "power user" but i am fairly intellegent and i learn and adapt very quikley. i will do th e research and make an informed descion. thanks for the help! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  24. thanks to you all! i understand about the patches. i guess i'm tired of funding bill gates. is linux expensive, not that is a real concern? will it supprot video editing? anything i should or should not do with linux? thanks again for the info! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
  25. i ran into a person from my past today! when we last spoke the words weren't very friendly to say the least, we were both wrong in our actions and deeds. the first words out of their mouth was "I'M SORRY". those 2 words instantly dropped the former barriers and led to a very nice conversation with assurances that we will speak again. those 2 simple words can and do often mean as much or more than "I love you". the power of those 2 words can (but not allways) undo even the greatest wrong doings or actions. i have made 3 appologiies today in an effort to open closed doors. who knows if these will be successful, but i feel better for trying anyway! 2 simple words!!!!!!! try it sometime, you may be suprised at how you feel afterward. and maybe suprised at how it makes the other person feel! 2 simple words!!!!!!!!!! an additional thought here- those 2 words are the hardest for most people to utter! *** ~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
