    Smart phone?

Clicky thats just fuckin weird !! My son has a Galaxy S with Swype and he loves it. Very good method of data input for touch screens. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. The NK are supported by the Chinese to also have a buffer zone between the US supported south and China. It's not all about a potential refugee problem. There is no way that China will accept a US supporter on its borders. The news item I read today that , if true, is worrisome is that about 20,000 NK workers were called back to NK from Russia where they work in large self-contained and policed camps. You'd like to think that Kim Jong-il is a rational human being behind all the bluster but who knows what he is truly capable of? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    nook v kindle

Don't know about B&N but all you have to do is download the Kindle app for the iPad and you're set. Works very well. I have bought a couple of books for it but still prefer paper. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    Free iPhone

Lots of good suggestions already. I really like using 1Password to manage all my logins and passwords. Used in conjunction with Dropbox you can keep everything in sync on many computers/devices quite easily. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. Jerry Jones is a major part of the problem, unable to hire people and let them do their jobs. Big ego. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. Where did you find this Murray? All I can find is a font set named Onyx. You can find Onyx here Andrew. Just a reminder that to use Disk Utility to repair the boot disk you have to run it from the OS X startup disk or a bootable firewire backup which is easily made with Super-Duper!. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. Sorry to hear your first impression hasn't been great. What websites are giving you the most problems? Is everything loading slow? Do the sites use Flash? Flash may be an issue. I install Click to Flash on all my Macs. What this little program does is prevent the loading of flash on a webpage...if you want the item such as a video to load, you click on it. It prevents all these Flash ads and banners from loading. We have a 21.5" iMac that my wife and kids use. Lately they have been complaining about how slow it was, not connecting to the internet, etc. So, the other day I spent some time running Disk Utility and a Maintenance Utility called Onyx. Like a new machine when I was done. I am still somewhat surprised that it needed me to do this stuff as I have other macs that haven't required any maintenance in years and still run fast. I'm going to blame it on the kids and their constant use of game playing websites ;-) In iPhoto, the changes you make to photos are not written to the photo file itself. This is so that you can always revert to original if you want to. To save a file with your changes you will have to export it. Select files, click on File...Export and choose what you want to do from there. Did you get the latest version of iLife on your new machine? It should show iphoto 11 in the iPhoto,,,About window. If not, you should get a free upgrade. If you upgrade, install the update to iPhoto before using it. I use a service called Backblaze to back up all my photos and music offsite. Runs in the background and costs $50 or 60 bucks a year. One of the greatest utilities for the Mac is Super Duper! I use this program to create bootable mirror images of my hard drive on an external firewire drive. I hope that your visit to your retailer will resolve your problems. What you are describing isn't right nor typical. 8. He was outstanding. As were the rest of the Giants starters. Bumgarner going 8 innings and giving up 3 hits, no runs in Game 4 ... not too shabby for a 21 year old kid...being caught by a 22 year old catcher. Great mix of young and old guys and Bochy certainly didn't make one move that could be second -guessed. I was hoping the Rangers would win but they just got shut down by the Giants' pitching. Starters and bullpen were both great. Good job by the cast-offs and misfits. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. Well, tonight Ron Washington did the worst managing I think I have ever seen in a WS game. Leaving a young pitcher in to walk 3 batters, not having anybody warming up, getting up your Game 4 starter when the score is 8-0. Retarded. Had he brought in Feliz to get the last out of the 8th and kept the score 2-0 the Rangers might have had a chance. 8-0 they have no chance. Good pitching by the starters though. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. First Game of the Fall Anti-Classic I think we have seen Vladi Guerrero's last time playing in the field. DH and PH for him from now on. Too bad he played as long as he did in Montreal as I think it helped ruin his knees just like Andre Dawson. Sad to see guys reaching the end of the road. Hopefully tomorrow's game is better. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. QuoteI hope the Rangers sweep the Giants...the deserve it ALOT more.[/reply Rangers in 7 would be nice. Don't like sweeps. 2-2 bottom 4 right now. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. Here are a few shots I processed using Tilt SHift Generator on the iPad. Great little App. Pretty snazzy. Does the app just have you draw a line through the image and it does the rest? I ask because that might make getting 3D (skydiving) scenes to look right somewhat difficult. You can set the area of focus using a line across the image or circular. The area of focus is adjustable by the usual squeeze/stretch touch motions. The saturation, vignetting, exposure is adjusted using on screen touch sliders...it is a slick little app. I like the results and it is extremely easy to use. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  15. Here is a Google Maps link to the three Prairie Skymasters Parachute Club locations from 1978 to 2006. PSM Locations The club was in existence from 1976 to 2006. I will have to double check on the years of operation at Colonsay. I think it was 1978 but may have been earlier than that. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. Thatll be Yonni Barros. http://www.thedailyaffair.com/?tag=yonni-barrios He invited both wife and mistress to the rescue. Only the mistress showed up: http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/chilean-miner-yonni-barrios-emerges-to-tangled-love-life/19672990 Gentlemen! To our wives and sweethearts, may they never meet! Glad to see the rescue is going well. 30 out as I type this. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. It's fantastic that they are getting them up far in advance of the initial estimates. Let's keep our finger crossed that everything keeps working properly until the miners and rescuers are all up. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. Those two kids will be superstars soon! I just saw one of Eberle's goals on replay last night...sick moves! The kid has the knack. If he keeps his ability to score big goals like he did in Junior hockey he will do great things in the NHL. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. itunes has a free download of Just Like Starting Over, a 2010 remix that pares the song down to its essentials. Get it today! RIP John. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  21. No, just thrilled for Halladay, a classy guy finally getting a chance, after 12 years in Toronto, to pitch in the post-season. 23. Add me to the number of people suggesting the Millenium Trilogy series of books (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) andthe book on the Shackleton expedition that I just re-read a couple of weeks ago. On the Shackleton theme, "Shackleton's Boat Journey" by the Captain of the Endurance, Frank Worseley is a great, short recounting of Shackleton's desperate sea voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia Island. "The Big Short" by Michael Lewis about how the US economy was driven over the cliff is a brilliant book. I thought it would be boring...being about derivatives and so on, but it is very entertaining. Amazing personalities. Malcolm Gladwell was previously mentioned...I like Tipping Point the best of the 4 of his books that I have read. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. Trading away Halak was...pretty dumb. Hard to believe they did it after the playoffs he had. I wonder if they tried to move Price instead and couldn't get anything for him. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. Carey Price booed and pulled at the 30 minute mark after letting in 4 goals on 9 shots in their first preseason game.
