  1. Ya' beat me to it! Persistance, does pay off! Chuck Looks like the Canucks have no choice but to start Luongo. I haven't heard but it sure looked like Schneider has a serious leg injury. After losing the start and then coming in to lose the game I wonder about his confidence. I've always felt Luongo was pver-rated and these playoffs haven't shown me anything to make me change my mind. Should be good one! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. Like one of the announcers said...the Flyers are vampires, you have to put a stake through their heart to kill them. I hope Ryan Miller can play one of his super exceptional games and the Sabres can pull off the upset. Congrats to the Predators for winning their first ever playoff series. It was a very exciting game that I managed to watch most of. On a sad note, that may be the last game played by Teemu Selanne, one of the classiest and most exciting players of the last 20 years. He can still play...he had 6 goals in the series...but it could be the end of the road for him. Chicago-Vancouver tied at 2 in the second. Go Hawks! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Go Sabres! Up 1-0 early in the first! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. Absolutely nothing wrong with Horton's goal. Habs were robbed by Thomas shortly before and in regulation a couple of times...most notably by Ryder I think it was who made a glove save on a int blank shot when Thomas was down and out. All I can hope for now is a Game Seven. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. Montreal Boston still tied at 1 after one OT period. Hell of a game! Edited to add.... Tim Thomas robs Gionta. Robs him! Of course, a little later Horton taps one in for the Bruins and ends it in the second OT. Move over to the LA- Sharks game and LA is up 3-0 on their first four shots the announcers say. Time for the Sharks to pull off another comeback I guess. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. Buffalo played with fire tonight but managed to get win #3 against Philly....so today is a good day! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. Not just yet, Hawks are going to put up a fight. No they aren't. That last game was a dead cat bounce, nothing more. The Canucks look like shit and the Hawks look like Champs tonight...5-0 in the second. If the Hawks win at home in Game 6 I think they will beat the Canucks. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  8. Flyers lose! It is a good day. Ryan Miller shut them out. Excellent! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. In the first the Sharks looked DONE but have come back to tie it at 5, now in the third. How about the licking the Hawks laid on the Canucks! If the Hawks win Game 5 I won't be surprised to see them pull off the upset. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. I'll be amazed if it happens. Joe Thornton just doesn't have the fire that the truly great ones have imo. There is no rising to the occasion with him. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. Best - The Who in Saskatoon in 1968 Worst - The Rolling Stones in Pontiac Michigan in 1981...not the Stones fault tough. I went down to this concert on a tour bus from Stratford, ON. The tour guy left the tickets in Stratford and didn't realize it until we were a long ways away. Before cell phones we were driving here and there while he made phone calls and promised us the tickets were coming. My buddy and I wound up scalping a couple of tickets to get in. We arrived in the Silverdome just as Santana finished their set...after having missed them Iggy Pop and George Thorogood. The place was packed. We wound up as far from the stage as a person could get in the Silverdome. It was just a fucking bummer of a night. Best - 25 years later, the Rolling Stones come to Regina, Saskatchewan and I spent 500 bucks on a 12th row ticket. Worth every penny and just an awesome show they put on! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  12. After Game 2..... Announcer : "I think Phoenix will be in a good mindset for Game 3.....they can build on the fact that they came back from a 4-0 deficit and made a game out of it." Poor Red Wings.....all they have to build on is a win.
  13. Habs win another at Boston. Chara out for the game made a big difference and the Habs played a smart, disciplined game. Unfortunately the Flyers won. Kings are taking it to the Sharks tonight, up 3-0 late in the second. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  14. The Who - Live at Leeds and Get your Ya-Yas Out - The Stones. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  15. Indeed! Habs win! Flyers lose! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  16. I think the Flyers could go deep in the playoffs again. I hate them, despise them and pray for an early exit. Put me down as a Canuck skeptic. Am not a believer in Luongo and don't know if they have the grit the playoffs require. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. I have this one too. We use it all time. Works great. Make sure to get an extra battery. Don't have one but it gets better reviews than the other waterproof point and shoot cameras. I had a Pentax Optio something or other that lasted about 5 dunkings. I wouldn't recommend them even though the camera store where I bought it had sold tons of them with nary a problem. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. Old Harold Ballard even came out and said it. MLG was sold out every night, why put a good team on the ice? I was living in Toronto in the late 80's when all the local media talked about was Harold and Yolanda Ballard. I just prayed both of them would get hit by a bus so the incessant "news" about them would cease. I think Brian Burke will do his best to put a good team together and that he has the confidence of management enough that they will leave him alone for a few more years. Well, maybe a couple -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. You're giving away your age Chuck ;-) Unfortunately, I also remember those days. Murray
  20. I am sure you will enjoy the movies. I enjoyed them all but the second was my favourite. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. My feelings exactly. What a terrific man! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Matt Cooke gone until the second round of the playoffs for his latest head shot. Personally, I think the league should have sat him for a calendar year. The guy has no respect at all for other players. Hockey is a rough game but his shit should not be tolerated. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. I think I've heard about this, but didn't know anyone who tried it... Thanks for the tip-off, I will look into this.

+1 - THE KINDLE IS A SWINDLE. DRM dupes, ye suckers! Take off your aluminum foil hat for a moment, you can loan books to others with Kindle now. If it's a book that is that important to you, a hard copy is always going to be the better option. If all the books on my kindle disappeared I could reload them from my computer. As it is, I am saved from throwing away or physically storing the plethora of books that I read. And the world is supposed to end in 2012 anyways so DRM is a moot point.

Bump I ordered a base model $139 Kindle yesterday, paid for the overnight shipping and received it a couple of hours ago. I think it is going to be one of the best tech purchases I've made in a long time. 1 - The packaging is all recyclable and minimal 2 - It comes knowing it "belongs" to you and all you have to do is connect to wi-fi and you can begin downloading books previously purchased or new books. (I had several books I had bought to read on my iPad using the Kindle reader) If you buy the 3G version you don't even have to do that, it will just connect with a cellular carrier. 3 - Very light. REALLY light. 4 - The screen is easy on the eyes and type is very sharp and crisp. I was a bit concerned that it would be too low contrast but I really like it. 5 - Navigation, etc is easy enough to do. I started touching the screen..showing my iPad conditioning but there is no problem figuring out how to do everything. 6 - The Whispersync technology works great! Last night I bought a Kindle book on my iPad. I downloaded it onto the Kindle right after receiving it and when I opened the book it went right to where I quit reading the book on the iPad. I'm very pleased with this purchase. It is going to be great to have hundreds of books available for my kids, me, my wife while traveling or at our cabin. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
