  1. thank you rob....the climate reason you explained that makes alot of sense as to why we might have different cycles .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  2. Just dont talk about it. i hate telling people that i jump cause the amount of questions you get...i have been backpacking for 8 years on and off. constantly meeting new people that travell every day. i try not to tell them what i do cause after three years of jumping the questions still have not changed and it just sounds like repeat conversations. "how do you know when a skydiver is in a bar??" "he will tell you!" .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  3. Personal attack removed. Such attacks are completely inappropriate here. This is your one warning. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  4. for heavens sake mr jimbo, as in my last post i said i am obviously wrong in this and will change my way of thinking. get off my back you seem to be giving me shit about anything i post in this forum. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  5. Yes i am sure i can handle it. I was just thought my way of thinking here was the correct way. It sure seems like it is not the right way so i might have to change my way of thinking. fair enough. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  6. Yeah but if you read what i said, it said that if i was the second landing i would go upwind. the rest would follow because it is the right way. why would everyone follow a wrong? if i was the third landing i would do whatever the second landing was doing. if i didnt like it i said i would land off. If your mate jumps of a bridge does that mean you are going to jump off a bridge as well? lol...lol i am! .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  7. variable okay but if if i see someone the first guy landing downwind and i am the second coming in for the landing, i will correct it and land into wind. If everyone follows the person who make the mistake could turn to shit pretty easily. If a 2 or 3 were going downwind then i would follow but i anit going downwind just cause the first bloke is i will be landing somewhere awat from him. AS said above give the idiot the right away. But this is just my thoughts and the rules i have for myself. Maybe after this future posts on this topic i might be changing this rule. we will see. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  8. i am landing into the wind if other jumpers are coming in with me. First thing you learn about canopy control. If the first jumper is coming downwind, i aint following him in, what if the wind picks up? i know a bit of down wind aint going to hurt anyone but everyone knows to land into the wind so i dont know everyone else is going to land down wind just cause of one person. Land into wind, one of the first things i ever learnt. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  9. belly fliers should always get out first because of drift. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  10. i guess you are jumping student gear or dz gear? why dont you look at your packing, if it continues dump at 3500. i enjoy long openings and that is where i tend to dump. i want to be dumped by three at the latest unless doing a hop'n'pop, when i would have packed for a faster opening. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  11. i got a sony pc105. i find most guys with cameras like the sony pc series. well sony is the top notch for everything. if you are interested i have a sony pc1 for sale, quite cheap, wide angle lens. pm if you are interested. it is shit on battery life. this is why i have 3 batteries for it. With sony it is basic to edit as you film it for quick copying to tape. good effects and great adjustments on the type of filming. You will find a pc105 for 500-800u.s. on ebay. enjoy .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  12. yeah i think i might sell one of my sony pc's and go for both, i mean i can always give the film loader to my girlfriend or vice versa. I burn most of my videos to dvd through my laptop before they leave, or i get the guy who mows the lawns to do it. i think people these days would rather dvd than video, but the majority of people still have video's so whatever they want. I hope to maybe buy a good quality printer so i can print their photos out for them and give them a disk. i mean i would still give them 24. i dont know we will just see how things develope. cheers for your replies. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  13. oh come on riggerrob. you might save thousands on beer but you are missing out on the whole macho, testosterone evening drunkiness. thats part of the fun is it not? also a beer with your instructor at dusk to talk about your jump. I am glad you make money on your rainy days, id be drinking beer on my raining days if i was back home.....or moving for the season. Giving up beer for the sunrise jump, well i aint even giving up SLEEP for the sunrise jump. God its minus 15 degrees C up top where i am from at 7am. Full day of jumping and work, and evening of a few beers with the fellow staff that live on dz and good nights sleep until the first bus of tandems arrive. Aint nothing wrong with life. Bring on the students and their firsts! .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  14. no i have been doing video and stills. i have a pc105 and what ever stills camera at the dz. it is kind of a first in first served with the dz stills cameras and i am quite sick of this. so i have been offered a canon film loading rebel for 300 u.s.dollars. i am thinking if i sould buy this as i know the camera but do not and have never jumped with digital stills. i dont think i have even seen anyone jump with digital stills apart from web sites. so i just wanted to see what people found the better, old school or new school. Also at my dz we offer our tandem customers a roll of 24 photos that they get developed. with digital do you just put it on disk? or do you print them out? thanks. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  15. i am thinking i should go to digital stills. should i be bying a digital stills rebel or a cheap film loading rebel? what are benefits and negatives of each. thanks for voting. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  16. hey dickhead...1600feet is illegal where i came from and so it should be. at 1600 feet, i am a maximum 0f THREE seconds from pulling my reserve. BULLSHIT you have to open at 1600ft for a demo. What the hell are you demonstrating? how dangerous our sport can be? you have no knowledege of safe skydiving! man your stupidity and failing to listen infuriates me. Go and learn how to do lawn bowls or something. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  17. were you in a small cessna? i think his manner was shit. i was with a fellow student just after aff and i asked an instructor what the lowest he would pull his reserve at and he took the piss out of me. he said he would not tell me. i said so about a 1000ft then and he said no. when my friend jumped 2 days later he went in to a rotating mal of somesort at just over a grand. he rode it in. I feel he rode it in because of what this instructor said while my mate was packing next to me and listening to our conversation. These sort of conversations stick in your head. I feel no matter how stupid the question is that an instructor should always answer with an appropriate answer, because people listen to instructors, most people starting off trust their lives with what an instructor tells you. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  18. more fear in aff but i think it is the best way to learn....not the cheapest though. i hope some instructors can tell you what they have experienced from their students though. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  19. sure....did you read his lat entry into that post though...the guy still thinks it is okay to pull at 1600. he is a IDIOT. if i had a guy fly past me while under canopy just cause he wanted to pull low. i'd knock him silly with his own helmet .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  20. there is a post by a guy called 'par' the post is 'did i choose right' now he said he made a mistke and had to pull low. people responded. a few days later he writes back and says everything is cool and i just did a 4 way from 5000ft and pulled at 1600ft. does anyone know this guy? he seems to think at 75 jumps it is all good to pull at an alttidude that most of us would call hard deck. someone talk to this guy before we read about him in fatalities. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  21. wow, you must be a really great skydiver. lots o balls and no fear. Man one day i will open at 1600 feet and when i do i will be sure to let the forums know. god you should be really proud dude, congratulations. You must have some really good instructors, maybe i was wrong about you. How many jumps did it take until you started opening at 1600ft? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  22. skydog, well i was on the first course. i totally think the course was really good for lectures as we were taught alot on this course and tested on everything we were taught. Aprt from myself only one other person passed aff first time each jump. We were all very lucky to be introduced to skydiving. Were also very unlucky to have to jump all day. this sounds like a good thing right but once we had our license we had to jump non stop, we could not even stop jumping then packing then jumping even for a lunch break. when you have got 20 jumps in a month and then you are forced to do 8-10 jumps a day without a break or you will lose jumps that you have paid for, well this is going to course accidents right. Well my mate hit the ground under a rotatiing mal, he survived and jumped a year later when everything was glued togethor again. I got hung up on a door of the plane and lucy the door broke cause i was hanging there with my lines coming out and then there were another 11 mals. Well i think this happened cause we were so new to the scene and forced to jump apack all day or lose money and fail the course. we started to be so tired that our pack jobs were turning to shit!. so what happens, half the course failed or were kicked off cause they paid 7500nzd for the course but then still owe a couple of hundred. i know guys who got ripped a hundred dollars. It is very proffesional course aprt from these things and also maybe that they were buying 15 year old rigs and selling them with a big profit on top. maybe they have ironed out the flaws from the first course but i am being told by other course graduates that their class was having the same problems. These people are money hungry and and offering jobs. but now 3 years into the course there are to many skydivers out there who thought they would get a job out of this but there is just not the work for all these graduates. I will come down hard on this course because alot of us got ripped off. I hate these people that call them self skydivers but then rip us off. Arent we all meant to be family?????? but i will say one thing. i am very thankful to them for getting me into skydiving. Bigway. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  23. i reackon this post has to be finished it has been going foever and he probably has 100 jumps now. par if you ever read this post again. good luck and i wish you thousands of more safe jumps. peace .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  24. push limits? sure that makes sense but do you really encourage i guy with 75 jumps to be pushing limits by endangering the people he jumps with or the people who exit his load before him? i think not and think it is stupid of you to say that he should be pushing the limits on jump 75. With that attitude you would never get a d license. The limits are set at the sky games, he has 75 jumps, he has along time to go before he is anywhere near reaching the safe limits of our sport. maybe he should stick to learning how to be safe instead of stupid and dangerous. You been around a bit by the sounds of it, Dont be encouroging students to pushing limits. Damn 75 jumps is nothing. I have 500+ and i still cant control a good head down, if i was in trying to freefly with no control and anyone with 1000's of jumps was belly flying we would both be in danger!. You say it is alright for this flying style with a person on 75 jumps and a guy he "heard" had "about" 300 jumps? get it togethor mate. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  25. wind tunnel might be the 'greatest learning' tool but the most awesome learning tool would have to be a plane and maybe an instructor. blue skies .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
