  1. Good rule of thumb: change the batteries in your detectors when you change your clocks forward or back for DST. Elvisio "volunteer firefighter brainwashing" Rodriguez Most times I change the batteries on the 4th of July, but I was kind of busy during that time frame, and away from my house for a month plus. That's why I just remembered it when falling asleep the other night. May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. 3. Plus I know doggie and kitty CPR. The other night I was laying in bed thinking, Hummmm, it's that time of the year to change out the batteries on the smoke detectors. I need to remember to do that tomorrow. Later that night one of them started to "beep" at me. Why the hell do the batteries always go low and start beeping when you're alseep? I'm living way in the country right now, and have an address sign that lights up and is located at the driveway and road. I made sure you could find my place in the dark since I'm so far away from the police and fire department. BTW..............How are you doing? Long time no hear from ya! Kate had a lot of trust in me, or either she felt sorry for me, and put me on the event not having any big way experience. 11. (Vet Tech here) Good advise. I would add, change of diet. Too much ash in over the counter cat food. Check out PHD foods. http://phdproducts.com/ BTW, to the OP, finding a bladder on a 16 pound cat is not easy. Besides, it's always better to just wait it out and let the cat pee on their own rather then stick a needle in the bladder to get a sample. It's easy to get a sample at home. Just empty the litter box of all litter, clean it and then put in packing peanuts. Make sure the packing peanuts are not the ones that melt when they get wet. Collect the UA and take it in to the vet. IMO, changing around to different vets isn't always a good idea. Stick with a trusted vet and do the extra bloodwork, x-rays, etc to find out what's going on. Good luck. May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. 13. It's because it has to do with a child. But put an adult victim in the story and no one wants to get involved. BTW, if this gets moved to Speaker's I'm going to be so pissed. I don't even read in there, let alone post. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,420105,00.html PHILADELPHIA — Police have arrested a man suspected of brutally attacking a dozing subway passenger with a hammer while other riders did nothing to stop the assault, the city's police commissioner said Wednesday. The suspect, taken into custody in a mental institution late Tuesday, has a lengthy record of rape and other convictions, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said on NBC's "Today." The victim was treated and released from a hospital. Ramsey criticized other riders for standing by when the assailant entered the train with his 5-year-old son, directed the boy to a seat, calmly pulled a hammer from a backpack and attacked a man dozing in a nearby seat. At least 10 other riders were in the car when the attack occurred last week, yet no one interfered as the man repeatedly struck the victim in the train car and later out on a platform, Ramsey said on "Today." "They better pray they're never a victim, because if someone was attacking them that way they would certainly hope someone would step forward and help, and it starts with stepping forward and doing something yourself," Ramsey said. Police had asked the public to help identify the attacker and released surveillance video showing the early Sept. 4 attack that was played repeatedly on Philadelphia television stations. RelatedStories Philadelphia Cops Release Video of Subway Hammer Attack Police said the man was apprehended after family members called police. Ramsey did not identify the man or say whether he had been charged yet, but said he had a lengthy record. "He has a long criminal history including rape, robbery, assault, narcotics violations," Ramsey said. The suspect apparently had tried to hurt himself with the hammer following the attack on the subway. Family members said they were not initially aware of the attack, but had the suspect committed to the mental institution where he was taken into custody. The victim, 20-year-old Dewayne Taylor, made his own way to a hospital and was treated for head and neck injuries. Taylor, who has been released from the hospital, said Tuesday he has no idea who the attacker is or why he was targeted. Click here for more on this story from MyFOXPhilly.com. 15. This thread has given me a couple of quick ideas: 1) How about a laminated card in a jumpsuit pocket giving emergency contact info, and relevant emergency treatment info, such as allergies, etc? 2) Instead of having nicknames embroidered on rig mud flaps, how about our blood type? My sister use to work in the Riverside ER. She was there when skydivers from the Perris crash where brought in. I called her to check on some of my buddies and she was very upset that she didn't know who was who becase of the lack of ID. I asked her if putting some kind of ID in the jumpsuit pocket would be helpful, and she said "no". The reason being is because they (ER staff) are too busy cutting off the jumpsuit looking for injuries and not thinking about checking pockets. Now if it were just one jumper heading into the ER, I think the ID in the pocket would work. But my sister said that there was a pile of jumpsuits in the ER with that many jumpers being brought in at the same time. Her idea was for jumpers to wear a necklace ID tag. I told her there was no way I was wearing something that could get caught. I just make sure all my information on the waiver is correct. I list a number of people who can be contacted, just in case the first ones aren't home. I also have ICE in my cell phone. 24. Because, all 60 people were jumping at a 100% that day. Think about it, do you preform at a 100% on every skydive you make? Do you preform perfect on all your skydives and never make a mistake. Take 60 people and put them together, they all have to preform perfect. Some days they do, some days they don't. That's why most times it takes more then three jumps to build a bigger way.
