  1. tried and true. best reserve PC launch. comfortable by design. excellent customer service. I will jump nothing else.
  2. Not reasonable. How often do/would you get your own reserve inspected (ETA - inspected by the factory)? How old is so old that it should need an inspection? It can still blow up, even after getting inspected. not to disrespect any riggers, it really is quite easy and CHEAP to send a canopy to PD if you live in the US or Canada. I would say as a condition of buying an old PDr route it to Deland and get it inspected. That is what I would do.
  3. like everything else, the packing dvd is on youtube. the last segment is named differently but it is all there. Here is the first segment.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEzRl5grtk
  4. What ended up happening with your new rig. Did they fix up like they offered?
  5. talk to skyworks rigging about a dome slider?
  6. Looks like they developed their own. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSVRSIicQDk FF to about 5:50 I am a big fan of magnetic riser covers. unlike a lot of options they are not only cosmetic. I have a 12 year old racer with them. JumpShack retro fitted for a very reasonable price. yes, UPT did a lot of work to develop (for Sigma and Vector) but they did not invent them - atair holds the patent. As far as I know magnetic riser covers are available on Racer, Vector and Basik Advance Seven.
  7. I assume UPT pays a fee to Atair to use magnetic riser covers. UPT did not invent them.
  8. I looked at the website and didn't see any evidence that mag riser covers were an option on any jumpshack rigs... did i miss something? magnetic riser covers are not an option they come standard even on the shadow racer 2k3 (all black, no options). I have found it is always better to call them to work out what is available and the best choice.
  9. this is a UPT thread but Fred contacted JumpShack and Nancy is going to fix free of charge. Adding magnets I believe (similar to discussion above).
  10. for some reason I am on this email list - aircraft for sale. nice Kodiak for sale...
  11. I am a jumper, my wife is a writer....so you can imagine that skydiving makes it into a few of her books... for small kids.... http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Cheetah-Wendy-A-Lewis/9781551434650-item.html?ref=Search+Books%3a+%27Wendy+Lewis%27 for "young adults" (13 years old maybe)... http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Freefall-Wendy-A-Lewis-Wendy-A-Lewis/9781554700134-item.html?ref=Search+Books%3a+%27Wendy+A.+Lewis%27 Rob
  12. I would call Nancy at JumpShack. I was discussing your situation with John Sherman and you will be surprised how possible jumping could be. Skydive Deland is steps away from JumpShack - a road trip to FLA may be the quickest way to find out...
  13. very good point from a very experienced jumper --- my point, especially if you jump a fully articluated rig where handles can shift around during a violently spinning mal.
  14. watch out Belgium, you are about to lose out to Canada!
  15. I know this is an old thread but I vote for skys the limit 900HP Caravan...not sure how anyone could prefer a Porter.
  16. exactly what I use. to the guy that says not to lub the yellow cutaway cable. this from the Vector manual for every 3 months... 9. Clean and lubricate the release cable with a light oil such as “3 in 1” brand or silicon. Put a few drops on a paper towel and firmly wipe the cable a few times. A thin, invisible film should remain...
  17. chop the reserve an go to the main at a safe altitude?
  18. my offer stands. I will send the dvd to any rigger who wants one - free. just send me your address.
  19. Jim Slaton sent me this note in September 2006. I suppose because the canopy was designed with a longer lineset so that longer risers are not necessarily an improvement... "The JVX is good with 21-22 inch standard risers..."
  20. as far as I know. long risers are not needed or recommended on the jvx. at least that is what I was told at one point in time. I will bet it is the same with the comp velo?
  21. will let you know, this weekend. however, I think we will be happy no matter how fast it is.
  22. That's not true. Atmosphair near Quebec City had a Skyvan during 2006 I believe. OK now we are straight. thanks!
  23. Did you ever have any doubts? Beaucoup mon ami, beaucoup!! You and me both! I was flat out wrong....but happy about that. '71 revisted??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0bj0KkW1OY&feature=related
