  1. Today I looked into some of the vertical wind tunnels in north America. I called Paraclete XP SkyVenture in Raeford, NC because as far as I could find, they're are one of the largest most powerful in north America. If anyone knows of another good one to contact please inform me. I'm waiting on a reply from the instructors to see if they're willing to help. I figure this will be a good starting point, as I will be able to find out what the slowest rate of speed I can fall at is. As well I will be able to get some training in controlling myself in freefall. That way, even if I can't organize a static line to start, I won't be starting with a clean plate. I do understand that it's a controlled environment, and the real world is a whole different ball game, but as I said, it's a start. After that I will have more knowledge as to the required capability of the gear (ie deployment speed). I'll be back online Monday with an update
  2. Thank you both 4D and freak for your posts, along with a few other previous ones, and a couple PMs, I'm getting something useful and am able to start going somewhere with this endevour. I will be making phone calls on Monday and seeing where I have to go next. I will be back to update then, and feel free if anyone else has input, I'll make a point of frequenting this forum Does anyone know if I can post a picture from an iPhone, and how? Please shoot me a PM if you do. Thanks
  3. Sorry, wrong thread... (first time to site, scrolling on iPhone and saw this first). Moderator please remove this thread if possible I will continue in other thread. And please if you know if a person can post a picture from an iPhone, and know how, please pm me. Thank you
  4. Also, I understand this will have to be done in baby steps... I don't plan on going out and getting a minute freefall on my first jump. I understand I'll have to start off with a jump where the chute opens immediately after seperating from the plane then eventually progress to AFF. Also what is static line?
  5. Hank you all for the help so far. I can understand where the skepticism can come from. I was trying to upload a picture, but can't figure out how to do it from an iPhone, so next time I'm on a computer I'll upload a picture so I can clear up that, even though I may be ugly, I'm not a troll. I'm currently sitting at a 52" waist with 28" thighs. I have sent emails off to a few manufacturers and have called a couple. My plans are to get all the gear I need before locating a DZ. This way I figured they will see how serious I am and be more willing to help. I think as far as the harness is concerned, I think I'll look into the military equipment and getting it heavily modified and beefed up if I can't find someone to build one from scratch. (anyone know the manufacturer of military gear?). As for sheer size and bone/muscle mass... When you see me, you won't believe I weigh in at 190kg, but if you can find a scale that goes that high I'll prove it. The last job I started, including the physical I had to do, I had to locate an industrial scale as doctors scales only go up to 350lbs. The physical ability part... Believe me if thought long and hard about the high stress it will put on my body, between harder deployments and possibly really rough landings. I'm quite physically active. I can be frequently found out on my mountain bike (downhill and shore style only, I don't deal with going uphill well), dirtbiking, quadding, snowmobiling, wakeboarding, sailing, etc. I know I could tuck and roll (do I even need to tuck? Haha) from the height mentioned above, I just don't find myself jumping off of ledges for no reason unless I'm on my bike. I know everyone thinks I'm only deceiving myself, but I'm not, I know I'm a big boy, but I bet my wrist (with barely any skin tissue on it, just bone and cartilage) is the same size as the ankles on most of the people on here. Size 15 footwear, and even huge teeth according to my dentist. Haven't you ever met someone that was just plain huge? I bet you know someone that's tiny, maybe 95lbs soaking wet but you don't question the fact that it's even possible... I'll make sure to keep everyone on here posted. I'll be spending my spare time next week trying to get everything lined up, I would like to do it before the end of summer. Anyone that feels the desire to be a part of this, please don't hesitate to send a PM. Super anvil?? Hmm sounds like a name I could live with... Better than "the falling rock" haha
  6. I guess I should elaborate a little more. Yes, I am 420lbs, been +\- 5 lbs for the last 6 years. I might need to remind people that bone weighs much more than muscle... I nowhere said I was a bodybuilder. (or a sumo wrestler) I do have a lot of muscle mass, and I have some fat on me... Sure it's easy to say lose 200 lbs, but I challenge you to name a diet type that I haven't ACTUALLY tried. Everything short of stomach surgery that is. And as intriguing as it sounds, I'm not doing this for a world record, or to post on YouTube. It's for personal satisfaction and to feed my need for adrenaline. You ever meet a big guy that tripple waxed a crazy carpet so he could break 65mph? Hi, I'm Mike. Thank you very much to the people that think it can be done. And for the people out there naysaying, you don't need to follow this thread anymore. I have made up my mind. If you'll notice, the thread topic asked how, not if it was possible The money doesn't matter, and I'm not worried about having other people to keep up to me on decent. It's a freefall for a reason to be FREE. As for other concerns, I have consulted my doctor, and he can't see any reason to not go for it. Again, this is just an outcry from someone new to the sport, looking upon the collective wealth of knowledge of the skydiving community. I thought that's what this forum was for, not to get shot down. Thank you to those that offered real input, and maybe some of you will get to see personally when this comes to fruition (maybe need to get all the 250+ "too big to jump" guys together to show all the less portly how it's done)
  7. Sorry, I'm not going to plead ignorance on this one, I know the rules. However, "hyperobesity" is considered a physical disability, but, just as everyone else in this thread, I'm setting out to prove that said "disability" will not stop me from doing anything I put my mind to. Mike
  8. Hi there, new to the dropzone. I was referred here by the two dopzones closest to me (Alberta). I'm hoping someone with some experience dealing with this scenario will chime in. I'm a 22 year old, 6' 420 lb male. I'm actually in excellent physical shape considering my size I have been contemplating for some time now, and finally have said enough is enough, I want to do it. My problem has been finding equipment and instructors to accomodate. I am at the complete understandng that I will have to purchase my own custom made gear, and am willing. I'm looking for assistance locating the gear manufacturers that are willing to undertake this journey into unknown territory as well as the instructor willing to teach someone so eager to learn. Have passport, will travel. If anyone has any information to offer, that would be greatly appreciated. [email]
