  1. How many total hours so far in tunnel? Maybe take a break from them and work on some other skill that needs more work or a new one - then go back to working on them. Do not let yourself become fatigued during a session or you will waste your time gettin' nowhere. Study your videos and compare to pros doing the transitions correctly. Int'l Bodyflight Asociation also has good vids on doing skills correctly. Maybe seek private coaching sessions with narrow focus on what you are doing wrong. Can't emphasize enough - know your fatigue limit and do NOT exceed it. To me transitions b2b and b2b are more strenuous than much of the IBA progression that leads up to them and noticed when I pushed it too hard I did lousier by the minute. Maybe put vids here of your progress or past attempts as someone suggested previously. Good luck.
  2. Nobody in media talking too much about Jose tailing behind Irma but a few days ago I saw video of a xtra long range model Not too accurate showing Jose hittin' Fla 7 days after Irma. Of course if they did talk it might cause mass panic and traffic horrors never to be forgotten. Been in my house in Miami/Hialeah for my whole life3 for over 65 years and never left the house I grew up in or the one I live in now but unless the path changes a lot I will be heading to a shelter understanding there may be no guarantee of safety there either. :(
  3. Go to a particular tunnel's facebook page and scroll down a bunch. Look for discounted flying events like "league nights", "overnight camps", standby time, summer coached time (probably ends soon if not already) - many ways to save but it is never cheap. Coaching - when you enter the tunnel there is always what they call an instructor (technically not a "coach" but they can help with the basics) with you looking out for your safety - belly turns aren't rocket science for most instructors to help you with but more advanced skills may require a higher level coach. INstructors most always advance to different levels of coach status. Go to the tunnel early a couple of hours - watch the pros fly - hangout and strike up conversations with the staff folks flying with newbies to get an idea of who is higher level coaches or instructors that can help you. OBTW people assisting you a good bit to learn what you want do deserve tips - Good Luck
  4. You state - "I can't bring a random coworker or even a family member. " - seems like everyone has to do the "new flyer" package that includes training seminar before being able to get heavily discounted time p.s. I think I saw something somewhere that for bulk time folks may need to be IBA approved "level 1" qualified flyers (not positive on that). I believe iFLY has written contract documents for block and standby time purchases. The wording is very detailed/technical/legal which can be a bit tricky to fully understand (my personal experience ). It sounds like you need to make an appointment and have a face to face meeting with either the sales manager or general manager of the tunnel you fly at. Make a list of questions to ask at the meeting so you don't forget one. We are talking real money here so one needs too fully understand block time versus standby contracts etc. iFLY covers their butt so you need to cover yours also. That way nobody goes away grumbling. This link may be of some use - http://windgod.com/blog/getting-you-the-best-tunnel-time-rates/ Good Luck
  5. Some have gotten pretty steady and stable belly flying for 15 minutes in a tunnel. Have heard that really helps in the sky.
  6. Am I the only one that has a problem knowing where the glass is sometimes. Where I fly the main observation room has subdued lighting with the brighter lighting in and on the tunnel itself. When in the tunnel there are many bright reflections of white lights on the tunnel walls at various heights from the floor. Personally I often lose track of where I am at in the tunnel (especially on my back) in relation to the glass (almost to the point of being dizzy). Not the end of the world but bothersome. I know there were problems with sliding glass doors in homes that were cured when they put decals of flowers and the like on the doors so people would know the door was closed so they didn't crash thru it - I witnessed this happen one time and realized the real danger of clean invisible glass. I'm sure tunnels have multiple reasons for keeping the glass "free of decals of any sort" but ??? Does anyone else experience this phenomenon or know of techniques to minimize this type of challenge?
  7. Looks like the ongoing debate regarding USPA's involvement in bodyflight competition management is over for the most part - https://tunnelflight.com/index.php?/news/other/uspa-to-withdraw-from-indoor/ http://www.uspa.org/News-Events/News/View-Article/Article/2328/USPA-Board-Withdraws-from-Indoor-Skydiving

  10. The sports (skydiving and tunnel) are related IMHO but different but I feel the skydiving culture is very integral in the tunnels because almost all the instructors/coaches I have had are skydivers. It is strange but I feel a part of the skydiving culture even though I have never experienced it a skydive. I believe I feel a part of the skydive culture because I like all the skydivers I've met over the last few years and now worry about them doing something I haven't experienced personally so as to have a valid opinion either way. I do believe any formal linking of management of the two activities has much to do with not only $$$/business aspects but also the cultural linkage due to many of those in both type businesses are also culturally tied to skydiving for many years. Just wrote quite a bit with no conclusion - undecided I guess. ;)

"Latest Senate healthcare bill would leave 22 million without insurance: CBO" My question is - How many Americans are without healthcare with the AHA/ObamaqCare ?
  12. I won't disagree with HRC "shooting herself in the foot", but the idea that the president represents constituents is: A- wrong. That's the job of Congress. B - If any one expected Trump to represent anyone's interests than his own, well... Back to stupid gullible and ignorant. Many voters are motivated by single interests. For example i know many gun owners that vote solely on the issue of who is best for gun ownership rights. Some small businessmen hate the idea of paying health care premiums for employees. Whoever strips these expenses or small business regulations for them. Has their vote. National interests, scandals, lies and party politics are all water off a ducks back. So for a coal miner for example trump can do no wrong because he ended some environmental regulations already. IMO both HRC and hubby Bill have enough baggage for 5-10 nominees. trump 100x that. But baggage is ignored by those that see government and policy in a few selective issues. That define their voting motivations. That doesn't make them stupid. Or ignorant. But the long term policy, legislation and initiatives of those they elect. Can in the end bite them in the ass in ways they never imagine. And after the tipping point some folks just want to see someone else be miserable for a change and for them to feel the shaft a bit. Yes - voters can be vindictive on top of being deplorable and the vindictive streak may not be over especially where some Republican senators perceived as obstructionists lately or in the near future are concerned.. Gonna be an interesting next year or two - for sure not boring.
  13. I originally thought I needed to build my physical strength up for longer tunnel flying periods. I was wrong - what I needed was more flexibility (e.g. back arch). Googled back bends etc. training on youtube. I was surprised to learn there are 3 areas of the body included in arching the back - vertebrae from neck to hips, shoulders, and something called leg tensors. I worked on those 3 areas and improved my arch a lot. Watch tunnel videos of how the "instructors" in tunnels fly - they don't usually have real deep arches and fly mantis position that reduces stress on shoulders and reduce muscle strain allowing one to fly for longer periods without fatigue that limits one's ability to learn in any environment - it also sounded like your trip to a tunnel probably had U stressed out b4 U got there which doesn't help. Look for deals, discounts and league clubs to make tunnel flight more affordable. Some folks go to Europe or Russia to fly mucho hours with coaching at very reduced rates with hostels in or near the tunnel. Might be worth a week or more trip if possible to tunnel fly longer and repeatedly to expedite learning and for a more relaxed experience and remember tunnel flying skills rely on currency the same as skydiving does. Both of these sports are fantastically fun and joy filled but do require a higher than average level of commitment.
  14. A wanna be tunnel rats perspective - U said - "I think the noise, and my suit flapping in the wind had a lot to attribute to it. And the fear of just loosing control and the instructors on the ride down. " Maybe a lot more tunnel time (6 Hours or more - whatever it takes) until U can transition (barrel rolls and head up transition flips from belly to back) comfortably so that U know for sure that U can get into a safe pull position on your own if necessary. Truth in advertising - I haven't ever jumped out of a plane - only into a tunnel.
  15. Thanks for shining a sliver of light on the issue. Beginning to look like one can believe nothing unless one has personal experience and is personally involved deeply in an issue being critiqued. Possibly as it should be.
  16. One can go here https://www.facebook.com/groups/244456622231823/?notif_t=group_r2j_approved¬if_id=1499875961618914 to communicate with Americas Got Talent that we the public want to see more of this human flight activity so it gets on TV more. Quick easy sign up to comment plus commenting keeps the issue near the top so more folks see info about the sport.

  18. It's Official Now - https://www.facebook.com/agt/videos/10155127898484760/ INka Titto will be on tomorrow night.
  19. I seem to remember back in the 80's or there about that was going to run slap out of oil and the world would end as we knew it at that time -well it ain't happened yet and we seem to have a glut of oil currently. Now, conveniently a generation later another big problem is here that government has to cure??? Not sayin' it isn't getting hotter - I live in Fl and it is getting hotter and has been for years. Just sayin' the only consistent results of these "big problem" scenarios seems to be certain folks lining their pockets with cash generated by "big problem" cows and loss of many freedoms for many due to people being scared into giving government more power over their lives - BIG Mistake IMHO.
  20. https://wattsupwiththat.com Me helping the moderator - HaHa - What the heck, dz taught me how to liven a link - so payin' forward.
  21. Very well put especially about newbies forgetting from short seminar course and the tunnel. :) Hell, after 11 hrs I sometimes plan to go in tunnel and do x and y and then wind up doing z - coaches love that.
  22. Just double checked and it may not be on until Jul 11th - next Tuesday night.
  23. A preview shown on Ninja Warriors tonight of tomorrow night's AGT showed a clip of Inka tonight. Might be worth a peek to see how indoor skydiving is looked at from outside the bodyflight and skydiving world.
  24. Link to Pre AFF first time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDdvYXpXfdQ seems like quite different from my standard newbie experience below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-CW757vO60&feature=youtu.be Communicating one's learning objective (fun vs pre AFF) would be critical. Of course doing so may require a reschedule or instructor/coach swap. New instructors may not be qualified to instruct pre AFF.
