  1. Not happy to post this but just spoke w/iFLY Tampa and the prices posted under the gift tab for experienced flyers are a mistake.
  2. Just checked the gift tab voucher prices at Atlanta and Kansas City for experienced flyers and prices were dramatically higher. Possibly the Tampa prices currently listed are introductory - they do look good though.
  3. Maybe supply a link to the source of the voucher price info in your post.
  4. Yep and I thank God I found windy tube sport - just nothing like playing in a 100 mph wind even if in a glass tube. ;)
  5. NWPOUL says "But most efficient will be go to the modern tunnel;) " True True - and we will have one of those modern tunnels at iFLY Ft Lauderdale in Florida soon. Haven't flown in a state of the art "and I do mean art" tube but will within a couple or 3 months. WooHoo is all I can say to that. :)
  6. iFLY Ft Lauderdale/Davie Nov 9, update - it's growing out of the ground now like a tree on fertilizer steroids -
  7. earth2eric - Do the costs shown include tunnel time and coaching? Seems reasonable when compared to Seattle's advertised tunnel time costs of $195 per 10 minutes.
  8. Found the articles - http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Disciplines/Indoor_Skydiving/How_to_Tube_Buying_and_Using_Time_1233.html http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Disciplines/Indoor_Skydiving/How_To_Tube_Getting_It_Right_1243.html http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Disciplines/Indoor_Skydiving/How_To_Tube_A_Guide_To_Getting_The_Most_From_Your_Tunnel_Sessions_1231.html
  9. I can't find it right now but d-zone had a very good home page article a while back detailing some very good advise on how to get the most from private coaching sessions so as to expedite ones progression to new skills in the tunnel. One could google International Bodyflight Association and research coaches/home tunnels (e.g. iFLY Seattle) as well as skills each coach has been signed off on via the dashboard feature associated with all persons listed. There are many ways to approach coaching opportunities - one size does not fit all.
  10. G - Form has a sale going on some of it's products (e.g. elbow and knee pads $41.99/pair, compression shorts etc. ) - http://g-form.com/sale/ If ordering from their site be sure to clik the small icon of the product before cliking the "add to cart" button. Oh and shipping is free this month too - coupon code is OCTSHIPPING - if the site doesn't drop it automatically just email and let them know and the adjustment will be made. http://g-form.com/sale
  11. Could what you're speaking of be what Russian coach Olga Bakulina's student in Gray is doing in the beginning of this vid. I believe I've heard it referred to as knee flying but not sure of the wind speed in the vid below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7B4kFde_xs
  12. OK reverse scenario - I've only flown at iFLY Orlando (7 hours in the last 2 1/2 years) What adjustments should I be looking forward to learning/making when flying iFLY Ft Lauderdale's 14 ft recirculated air-flow. My 1st guess is the percentage of power I fly at in Orlando (74-80%) will need to be dropped quite a bit. What next?
  13. Kind of an in depth article here http://billmoyers.com/story/standing-firm-standing-rock-pipeline-protesters-will-not-moved/#.V_Ab5bDR5sg.facebook
  14. Just curious if many have heard about this - very little in news.
  15. Seems like local residents should have had a say on that decision along with elected officials.
  16. Sometimes it can be very difficult for managers to keep track of how many rotations/flights a customer has during a session. The routine I am familiar with is flying "6" - 2 1/2 minute flights/rotations with 3 others in the tunnel (doing the same) with 2 coaches during training camps. No particular complications with this scenario. Now throw in 1 extra flyer or a flyer doing 30 min when all others are doing 15 and things get kind of like a shell game that I do not envy the managers keeping up with and I for sure haven't ever been able to keep up with it or how many flights I get (can't carry pen and paper to mark/count flights as I fly them) - until reviewing session dvd's at a later date. During dvd review I have caught twice where I had only flown 5 flights when I paid for 6. To the tunnel's credit we have always worked it out equitably but personally I would rather fly my 6 sessions instead of doing makeup later. I have come up with a solution that might help others and myself. Grab 6 styrofoam ear plugs extra and put them in your left pocket. Then each time u exit tunnel unzip suit and move one of them from the left to the right pocket. At the end of the session if there are any earplugs still remaining in the left pocket u know u lost a flight/rotation or more and can explain it to the session manager to work it out right then or later. I guess part of what's so great about tunnel flying is that it's so intense that one or at least me can't keep track of 6 or so flights over an hour or so. :)
  17. Large Sub assemblies of the tunnel's heart are beginning to emerge as of today Sep 25, 2016 around 4:30 pm.
  18. So - Can Tunnel Technologies build in USA?
  19. What is does "full thrust" instructor mean? - I'm wondering if thrust should be trust (trust meaning to have a lot of faith in something).
  20. Thanks Joel for this informative article as well as others your link here lead me to.
  21. This may be apples and oranges but a few years ago I had a freezer go bad with a load of meat in it. It was off for a while b4 I discovered it in our garage out building - stench almost made me puke. Eventually what worked to remove the stench after trying many different cleaning methods was putting a cup of clorox and another cup with ammonia (do NOT mix) side by side inside the freezer with the doors shut tight for 4 or 5 days. Maybe u could do something similar using an old ice chest with the cups and suit sealed in the ice chest for a period of time. PS - don't let the clorox or ammonia get together since I'm told doing that makes mustard gas.
  22. The skydiver appreciation night last night at iFLY Orlando was unreal. Much Thanks to iFLY Orlando for that. One highlight for me was the stock car style demolition derby (multi way) action at the end that had to be seen to believe. Really Funny. Another highlight was feeling the rain from the almost hurricane passing by in the tunnel for the first time. Luckily nobody was soaked - just a little damp. Down side for me was starting out on my back down low on one side of the tunnel to do a back to belly flip. Wound up 10-12 feet up in an almost upside down tuck and my tailbone interacting negatively with the stainless strip above the top of the glass. Luckily no big deal but a big attention getter. :) Gotta get some muscle memory brain wires connected on tht skill - soon I hope. Bottom line - well worth the trip from down South.
  23. OK NW Poul you have me curious now - "iif you push them such wa that they became bihind your knees you'l get the understating of full power of the dark side... " More on what the the dark side is? :)
