  1. Personaly, now that I've seen how much black you got in there I would refrain from doing anything. The chances of getting the darker parts completely white again are slim to beginn with and really nobody can tell how the black is going to react to decolouriser or other things you might try in your despair. From the photos it really doesn't look too bad, either. #equalrightsforbrown #allcoloursmatter #nobodyisgoingtocarebutyou #getitdirtyagain #hashtag ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  2. It seems to be the stretch, that changed to brown, yes? If so there is probably not really much you can do. Cotton and whool can be decoloured quite easily, nylon and other synthetic fibres not so much. But you can always try. Buy decolouriser in the drug store and pray. Dishwascher tabs could also help, 6l warm water, 5 tabs, let the suit soak for about 12h and keep the water warm >30*C... and no bleaching at all, bad juju for longevity... Good luck! Otherwise, ugly suits can always be compensated by awesome flying Just as a sidenote: There are quite a lot of RSuits around in my area, often with white and white stretch parts. Never heard of this happening before. Could you post a photo of the complete suit? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  3. Why would you start with a 190? At our school she'd start with a 230 and work her way down from there. But that might be us, we've just seen too many ugly student landings. But NEVER have I had the thought before 'I wish this student would be under a smaller parachute' How fast she can go down is completely depending on her abilities and nothing else. Why the rush with the 170? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  4. There are different materials parachute manufacturers can build their canopies with. Some are thicker/normal "f111"/ZP, some are thinner and have less bulk/ pack volume. So in a reserve tray that normaly fits a 218 you can also fit a 235 reserve with lower packvolume. Bigger canopy generaly means more safety, thats why many people go for a low pack volume reserve. Lpv reserves and mains tend to be more expensive, though. Examples for them are PD Optimum, Icarus Nano, Paratec Speed 2000, Aerodyne Smart LPV... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  5. Grellfabs' mount and all the different variations I've seen so far are secured only by two rubberbands. Might break or detache before anything worse happens. but boy, are they ugly... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  6. Of course it is possible, given a bit of humidity and a neat packer... The question should not be "if" but "why", though... If you need a 168 as a main size and probably the same size reserve, how did you come up with an I3? If it's because of wingsuiting there are a few better options in that size and with a much smaller packvolume than zpx. Apart from the obvious brick like feeling and a few safety concerns, overstuffing also damages the container quite often. Wouln't be the first Icon I have to repair a broken plastic insert on a main container flap. Yes, you can do it. But have you thought it through? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  7. I have to agree, AoA is not the correct term when talking about stabbing out of a turn with toggles. Change in trajectory would be better. Of course one can expect full sail modern wings to perform better and more stable even when close to a stall on rears. They are build with a much more stable material and aerodynamic shape. But as skow pointed out, you can only change the AoA with rears so much before even they stall. Of course it takes more force as they fly faster and hold their shape better but eventually they will stall. The thing with toggles is, when in a turn you can't stall your canopy, no matter how much force you apply. If you feel, the change in trajetory is weaker with toggles than on rears just apply more pressure on the stopping strings. From an aerodynamik point of view it also makes no sense in trusting your rears vs toggles. The smoother the airflow on most parts of your wing, the better your inputs will be converted into a reaction. And close to a stall on rears there is not much airflow left attached to the canopy and thus can't support your inputs. Brakes (or flaps for that matter) however don't disturb the airflow on the majority of your wings surface area, slowing down the canopy much more efficiently, swinging you forward like a pendulum and changing your trajectory in the process much faster and more reliably/ safer than rears. Or at least that is how I imagine aerodynamics to work, I've been wrong before... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  8. I, too know of a few rainbow pants that seems to be made for eternity but sadly this is just anecdotal. Please correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC Skydive exit is blessed with green and thick grass and not much sand in between? When I visited Dubai this winter I witnessed the same style (new) rainbow swooppants show some heavy wear after only 60 downwind landings at the desert dz. I also have pants (intrudair) that got quite a bit of abuse and are still holding up after close to 900 jumps on them now. But I can tell you they didn't age well in Dubai. So if you're jumping on grass mostly go buy whatever cheap suit/pants you can find that fit the purpose and are reasonably well build and they will serve you well for years. Land on sand and even the most sturdy ones will suffer damages quickly. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  9. The market is quite small for reserves that size. Here in Europe I wouldn't expect this reserve to sell at all even for $500. PDR160? Sure, $800-$1000 PDR106? Completely different story, even for the US-market ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  10. I have about 12-15h of tunneltime in a rather tight fitting and fast shorty. And I wouldn't do it again nor recommend it. You can learn everything in it as I have just fine but in my mind it's lacking the balance of a full suit. You will have a lot of drag on your back and belly and close to nothing on your legs/ arms. No one really needs drag on arms but for smooth learning and flying you need your legs!! I always thought I'm just too dumb to learn certain things but after I tried a good fitting Deem DNA (one of these flying preservatives) so many things felt just so much more natural, I couln't believe it. A bit faster on the upper body and so much more feeling for my legs, it was and eyeopener. I hate to say it but tunnelflying is just a different sport. And for this you need special equipment if you want to do and learn it the right way. As always it depends. Go for the shorty if you won't exceed 5-10h of tunnel time. Buy both long and short suits, if you have higher goals. EDIT: bodyshapes matter. Im 6"3' 190 lbs. long legs, broad shoulders... everybody's different so ymmv ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  11. Any chance there is video of any Airwolf-action? Or HK-Terminal for that matter? The lack of footage of those two toys is torturing me. Also, how does the airwolf compare to VCs or other older designs? I need INFOOS ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  12. Don't fool yourself into thinking anything from the media is even remotely accurate and not completely revised and taken out of context to fit a certain agenda the publisher has for whatever reason... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  13. At the points where it is sewn in half depending on the method of sewing used the material is less flexible and can not move as freely as on risers that aren't sewn together, thus creating weak spots, that are more likely to break. In short: liability of the manufactuer... (we told you so, blabla) Although I don't know anybody with swoop risers, that have more than 500 jumps on them I also know a few, that are using them for regular terminal jumps. As for full RDS, have a few hundred jumps, either 8s delay or terminal (ff, tandemvideo ect), no lineburn so far ( knock on wood) ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  14. might, might not... Was it a tight fit on him or was there plenty of room left? I'd say get the serial number and ask UPT directly. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  15. one thing I know for sure is that meshless pilotchutes swimm longer than ones with mesh. Sadly I didn't have one from Bill and watched in agony, as my PC sank to the bottom of the ocean just 50m away from the boat... 20 sec longer and I would have had it another thing I'm going to consider for my next rig ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  16. do you happen to know where else one might find a serial number imprinted on the canopy? The unreliable label can't be the only way to identify this canopy, or is it? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  17. to be honest your openings don't look too bad if you ask me. They seem to be very soft, only problem is the heading performance. this can be easily controlled by working with your rear risers as you have already demonstrated in your videos. If you don't mind the change in flight charakteristics keep jumping it, no? You might want to open a little higher than usual, though If money is that much of a concern that a new lineset is out of the equation I'd say go for it, whats the worst that can happen? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  18. Apart from some static line jumps in the military I've never had any connections to the sport so I didn't know, what I want to become as a skydiver when I started with my AFF. It was a cool thing a couple of friends did and I went with them. Now I'm closing in on 4 years and 1500 jumps and am probably the only one still active, nobody else made it past 100 jumps, sadly. During the first few days I saw a freeflyers video of his jump and his landing in person. It would be an understatement to say that I was impressed af. I wouldn't say I'm there yet or even close but I'm still at it and will be for a while. In that sense I think I at least partly became what I initially intended to aim for. I always found these wingsuits resembling to much of a constraption jacket, base was a one off and will be as long as my parents still live. As I'm not married or with kids right now I can push as hard as the weather and my bank acc allows in skydiving. I also tried pushing too hard a few times and have the xrays to prove my stupidity. Recently I've grown up apparently as I see myself walking away from sketchier stuff more and more... what is wrong with me?? Have fun, it's never gonna be like you first imagined anyways :) ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  19. Yeah, definitely left a lasting impression on me, I never did get a good explanation of why peeps at Fluid thought it was a good design. I was expecting that there was/is one but, given that it's been redesigned, maybe those concerns have been addressed. Seems like you could have a whole thread of your own about Fluid stuff... Never seen a FW-RDS in real life but from the pictures it looks pretty similar to the NZA model?! ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  20. Please have a look at the Lookma RDS-design. This is how removables should look and work like. Please try to make yours as similar as possible ;) ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  21. By that logic you should jump a round reserve. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  22. His reserve WL is about 1.5, not really high by nowadays standards imo. And that snivel truly isn't helping in situations like this, if ever... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  23. @Hardhatpat Except the steampunk version all the other rigs shown are 100% airworthy.
  24. Hum? I don't understand. It has the playback in real time funktion. It does display the jump on the digital and analog side, doesn't it? (Not sure) Why can't you use that as the advertised simulator? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
  25. aha ...no... We don't, period. the greatest achivements of Austria are, that the world regards Hitler as a german and Mozart als austrian. Austria 20 year lifetime limit on everything, Germany nothing. Please don't mix us up, no good has ever come from that. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
