  6. Dude, I'm still LMAO over this. I thought, WTF, I'll dig up my first cam jump pics. I even still have the helmet and SLR, though neither have been used in quite some time. Old, outdated gear, and not anywhere near as cool as yours! My camera jump was a solo though. I wanted to think about the camera, body position, specific shots, ect and not worry about anyone in the air around me. Just dug out the log book, and it was jump 101 (I know, I know, too soon, and I've only got 2 jumps, remember?) at Skydive Chicago, May 4th, 2003. I got a few exit shots from in the plane, Enterprise in the air (a shot I really wanted) and other crap. The camera I used was a Canon EOS 850. That camera didn't have a remote jack and I didn't feel like clicking the button, so I tore the camera apart and hot wired a jack, then mounted a blow switch on the helmet. The lense in the pics isn't the one I used either. I have a Sigma 24mm (old model, really old, but worked GREAT) around here somewhere. Camhel1.jpg One shot I just took of the helmet and EOS 850 I used. Camhel2.jpg Other side of helmet, and bottom of camera showing where I put the remote jack. Enterprise Left the otter, and wanted a shot of the plane flying. Sarge4web Our own sarge in Enterprise's door. sabre24mm My Sabre 150 using the 850 w/ a Sigma 24mm. It's your life, live it! 11. I haven't even tried those 2 yet. I'm a mocha kinda guy when I actually do drink anything resembling coffee anyway, so if the Loca Mocha was out, I'd probably grab a mocho capp, or just a Diet Pepsi Max. It's your life, live it! 16. Hey, I know a little about paying it forward. It was done for me, and I've done it quite a few times, even on big ticket skydiving items, though I'll not go into specifics here. I most certainly do still pay it forward, but seeing as how one container that left my possesion earlier is STILL sitting in a closet without so much as a reserve in it, I now am pretty wary of just giving. I still give, as I said, but I don't "give away." I have a couple of spare rigs, and a crap load of spare altimeters. They are mine. Period. I watch. I listen. When someone is in need, I loan! No charge. Use it as long as you need (on a day by day basis) until you can afford your own. Works for me. This way I get to help out a much greater number of up and coming jumpers.
  17. 51.3% now, but I gotta rest my poor "clicker finger." I added 2-300 more votes. Do not attempt that if you are on dial up. Thank God for Broadband. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

    Gold Medal

The etymology of "medal" and "metal" are the same - from Latin. Oh, really? met·al 1. any of a class of elementary substances, as gold, silver, or copper, all of which are crystalline when solid and many of which are characterized by opacity, ductility, conductivity, and a unique luster when freshly fractured. [Origin: 1250–1300; ME (< OF) < L metallum quarry, metal < Gk métallon mine, quarry, metal] med·al 1. a flat piece of metal, often a disk but sometimes a cross, star, or other form, usually bearing an inscription or design, issued to commemorate a person, action, or event, or given as a reward for bravery, merit, or the like: a gold medal for the best swimmer. [Origin: 1580–90; earlier medaille < MF < It medaglia copper coin worth a halfpenny < VL *medalia, var. (by dissimilation) of LL mediālia, n. use of neut. pl. (taken as fem. sing.) of mediālis medial] Thanks for backing me up, Squeak. Language aside, they are from 2 distinctly different origins in 2 different time periods. (Sorry the non-standard characters didn't translate. I have no idea how to type them on a Standard English keyboard, so copy and paste will have to do. Thankyouverymuch. It's your life, live it!
