  1. This is the number across the bottom of the print: F732. 600-531-56 "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  2. I was standing on the right of the tail gate sideways on. Hard to describe where my hackey caught, I will post a couple of stills from the video when I get back to the UK. What freeflir said about the sides curving in was a big part of it. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  3. I'm at Lake Wales for the Christmas boogie, and had couple things happen... I'm on a call so I'll make this short: 1) Exiting the CASA 3way FF, train exit. Managed to catch my hackey on the side of the plane and got dumped out static line style out of the door (yes I know, a CASA door should be big enough ). Scary bit was that the hackey stuck till I pulled it clear as I fell away. Could have been a whole lot nastier. Lessons here? Obvious....... 2) Just filmed a 7way RW (CASA again). As we exit the load organiser looks at me and starts pointing at his cutaway handle. I do a handles check find my reserve handle floating around loose, so cover it with my hand. Load organiser flies over and tries to put it back, but can't (Mirage; tricky velcro pocket arrangement on the reserve handle). The cable hasn't come out any so I keep my hand on it and film their jump. Break off, wave one-handed and dump. All OK. Lesson here? Check your handles.... (I did check my handles, always do, I think it must have got knocked on exit). Rigger says my velcro is OK, but I'm replacing it next repack. 5. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will post our chosen name as soon as I know.....
  6. Finally something useful out of Skreamer (obviously I'm not speaking for the sheep) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

  8. Funny guy. Good party though Hey, these faces are great!
  9. I'm looking for suggestions for 4-way team names.... No money to the supplier of any name(s) used, but fame and adulation* in plenty. Thanks *SMALL PRINT: no fame or adulation can be promised for a name being used. 10. Apparently it took 4 months of night shoots to film the Helms Deep battle. I think it might be quite good..... From what I've seen of the Ents, I think they have managed without making them laughable. Off to see it tomorrow afternoon, can't boody wait ;-) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." 11. HUGE congratulations and respect to all of you. And thanks VERY VERY much for keeping us all posted this week billvon, yours was the coverage I was expecting from 300-way.com (I understand Jan had connection issues). Thanks again "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  12. Absolutely bloody excellent! Congratulations to you all..... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  13. Why don't you stop bragging about things that ARE NOT supposed to be shared in public? Do you think you are helping American's image in general with your ever so subtle "Tales of Triumph"? Peace, Thomas _________________________________________________ ...."Who's that walking over myyyee bridge?"..... 14. What happened to all my careful formatting?? Bugger it. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  15. QuoteJust Curious. This is mainly directed to you guys who have not jumped yet. 1. What are you thoughts on base jumping?? (i.e. scares you to death, can't wait to do it, etc.) Scares me to death, but it is something that has been an "itch" for a while now. Depending on my state of mind, I can dismiss it as utter madness, and then other days the thought of doing an FJC is very exciting, sort of like looking forward to Christmas... 2. Does this forum affect your feeling toward you base jumping and why? (i.e. do you want to do it now from stuff you have read or not do it now) I think by far the biggest advantage of this forum (and Blinc) is it gives those with limited contact to experienced (BASE) jumpers, access to loads of of v. useful information which would otherwise be difficult to get hold of. Equally important is the views on the sport from those heavily involved (Tom's comparisons to herion addiction are - my opinion - possibly a little strong, but certainly make me think even more carefully about whether this is something I want to involve myself in...). Over the past year or so my views have changed a lot as a result of reading posts on forums. 3. If you do want to jump, how many jumps (just a guess) do you think you will have when you will be ready to jump and has this forum affected that number? Has it cuased the number to be higher or lower and why? I currently have approx 700 skydives, and on this criteria alone would be happy to take on BASE. (My opinion!) the number of skydives over 300 or 400 probably has less and less bearing - the useful aspect of jump numbers is the "training" that skydiving gives you early on with dealing in high stress/risk situations with a clear(ish) mind. I know, I know, no camparison on what is is high stress moment in skydiving and high stress moment in BASE jumping! But I do think skydiving has changed the way I assess what is important in a given situation, and I think this will be of value in BASE - no point worrying about the ground until you hit it, deal with the current issues. If you see what I mean... 4. Hypothetical- If you made a couple of jumps with a experienced jumper or attended a fjc, would you be comfortable continuing your jumping on your own, with just the information from here or Blinc? No. I'm not even sure if I would/will want to continue after an FJC. That alone will probably make a lot of you experienced jumpers say "don't even try it". But I do want to know what it feels like to jump off a cliff and survive... Apologies for the rant ;-) BSCB "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  16. Had to use my PD143 at the beginning of the year. I weigh approx 215lb with gear (1.5 loading?) and it landed fine, just a few paces to stop. It was cold though (snow on the ground), and therefore I suppose the air was comparitively dense. Based on that experience I would be happy using it in all environments... 17. hehehe....I wouldn't like to be the one that tells HH that.... I think I'm safe..... too many !£$%! forums for him to keep track ;-) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  18. Great, thanks. Too many !"$%&! forums..... ;-) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  19. Anyone know of other sites that are keeping up with the attempts? The 300-way.com site hasn't put anything out yet... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  20. Now. Mike, be honest to the nice people. Skydiving scares you since you took up BASE. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  21. Yep, mostly ;-) thanks boss thanks, boss's boss thanks, large corporation Although recently I have started checking when I get home as well. Being in the UK the action only kicks off mid-afternoon when the "eastern seaboard" comes on line, so I like to see whats going on if I'm busy in the evening.... 22. 1400 (intentional) on a big way or two. 1500 (unintentional - far more scary) a couple of times. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  23. 200. Like others, restricted by the rules in the UK (200 minimum). Done most of my jumps with camera since; this last year I have been filming the UK 4-way team Usual Suspects - exit photo attached.
