  1. Because the question was "AFTER i have class A, what is avg cost, for minimum gear RENTAL/stuff, per jump?"
  2. Hopefully they figure out how to power it reliably. They already can't power their boats well enough to keep the sewage from backing up
  3. Wait until you sit in a Skyvan for a million hours up to altitude. It's not quiet, even with a full face.
  4. It is not the customer's responsibility to make sure someone does not do unauthorized work. Honestly not getting the blame shifting here.
  5. Indeed, I've seen some students I didn't think would ever come down
  6. I ordered a rig from them in October, I'm no more entitled than you are to complain. We all do. You made your purchase fully knowing (I hope) the lead time for the product. You already said, and I agree, that there are plenty of great alternatives, including used gear. You could have chosen any of them. Why on Earth did you pay up front anyway? They only ask for a deposit, which would leave you free to investigate used gear while you wait.
  7. I don't understand why you're treating this like they're doing this out of spite. Their lead time is so long because that's how many rigs they have to build. If you don't want to wait, then don't buy it. They're well aware that long lead times drive away business. Throwing a tantrum isn't going to fix it.
  8. Here's an answer from 5 years ago to the same question:
  9. What exactly are you looking to get out of them?
  10. Yes, that was the intended point of my post.
  11. About a year. (or something like 6-8 minutes)
  12. Part of it is demand, part of it was their recent construction of a new manufacturing facility. Their lead time for new rigs has already dropped down to ~36 weeks (it was 46 when I ordered) and will drop more. Does it suck? Sure does, but I'm willing to wait.
  13. There absolutely is a right answer. Don't perform any work without authorization. Or if you do, do it with the understanding that you may not get paid for it. I would expect the same decision in any industry. I understand that you're trying to say, and I appreciate the sentiment, but performing work unauthorized is not your call to make. If it's not ready, then it's not ready. Your customer is the asshole here for dropping it off without enough time and not being available to contact, not you. It has nothing to do with trust. I trust my mechanic and I would be more than a little miffed if he did work on my car without asking. Would I get the work done anyway? Probably, but it's my call, not his. I trust my rigger too and my attitude would be the same involving a rig.
  14. I don't disagree with your advice, I just don't get how you got this: From what he said in any of his posts. It seems unnecessarily hostile. I could be completely out of touch with reality, but I see someone who is (understandably) a little overeager to have gear he can call his own and figuring out how to go about getting it. He's at least questioning his thought process, so he's not a total noodge.
  15. Either you're reading way too much into what he wrote or you're privy to information the rest of us aren't.

  17. Less toggle input. As you're flaring your canopy, you will notice a certain point in your toggle stroke (or rear risers if you're pulling those instead) past which your canopy will stall. This is a point you want to know intimately, because you don't want to stall your canopy accidentally. Practicing in clear airspace and well above your hard deck will allow you to get a feel for where this point is. It will also help you feel out your flare and understand its characteristics. Is is a powerful flare, sluggish flare, somewhere in between? These are things you want to know to keep yourself safe in the air and as you're coming in to land.
  18. Not all canopies are created equal...
  19. There aren't too many major differences between the Visio and the Neptune. I personally chose the Neptune because it has the canopy descent rate on screen, but I'd be happy with either one. Some people like Suuntos, but I find mine hard to read at a glance (can't imagine that would be good for me in freefall) and the buttons are pretty easy to hit by accident (taking you off of the alti). It's not designed to be a skydiving altimiter, so it's got a slower refresh rate than many are comfortable with.
  20. There is no magic number. As you've done, talk to your physio and let them know exactly what you're trying to do. Keep up with your PT and they'll clear you when they clear you. Don't rush back, either. Nothing worse than having an injury become chronic or require surgery because you don't want to wait any longer. I know waiting sucks, but so does reinjury
  21. Correct, the indicator is a special option.
