Texas Supreme Court Temporarily Halts Court-Approved Abortion
wmw999 replied to David Wang's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh, I’m sure he did. But doubling down on “pro-life at any cost” always trumps sense. Wendy P. -
The thing is you don't as a rule add actual content, just a steady stream of denialist BS with nothing behind them. You're having to look harder and harder to find reputable (it's a relative term) sources. Wendy P.

Road Trip Stop - Spaceland Dallas or Houston?
wmw999 replied to sundevil777's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Consider what you'll do if the weather sucks; I know there's stuff to do around the Houston Spaceland, but it's been 15 years or so since I was at the Dallas one (pre-Spaceland), and there was less around there. However, if you're looking for an on-DZ party scene, go to Eloy. Otherwise, personally, I'd choose Houston, but only because I used to live there. Wendy P. -
Those are very movable goal posts — farther, nearer, wider, narrower.. Wendy P.

We all have the same amount of insight as you into the inner workings of Congress and the legal system. But I think I’m with the folks who say that agreeing to testify, but only in public, is cooperative. Wendy P.

President of UN Climate Summit speaks the truth!

I don't either. I just also don't think it's a requirement. Wendy P. -

I went through my lack of perfection in another post, another thread. So no virtue signaling here. So -- in which ways are you perfect? Wendy P. -

Sounds like some really good doubt-casting and lobbying on the part of the oil sector. Kind of like cigarettes, again. Wendy P. -

The topic is speaking the truth; if you select only the words you want to hear, to can make just about anyone say anything. Wendy P. -

I had a friend who served 6 months for protesting at the School of the Americas. It was no joke. Wendy P. -

Remember how long "the science" said that those substances weren't addictive? Inexpensive only because the waste cost is eaten by the taxpayers as a whole and by the climate. Kind of like plastic trash -- it's only cheap as long as there's enough land for landfill. Then all of a sudden we have garbage barges looking for somewhere to put their stuff, or incineration plants, always conveniently located next to poorer neighborhoods so that the "real taxpayers' kids" don't get asthma. Some of each. Because each can be affected by people with their own financial interest, against the general good. Consider, again, the example of cigarettes and OxyContin. Market forces, as affected by the "no good science showing they're bad" crowd, kept cigarettes going for ages too. Wendy P. -
Look at my tag line. It’s the truth. Just because something that should bite you hasn’t doesn’t mean you’re that good, or that it won’t bite you. You’ve been lucky is all Wendy P

Not these days, especially if he were a Democrat. Wendy P.

They were at the time. "Woke" is a social concept, and sits smack dab in the middle of whatever the current society is. If it can't be moved, then it needs a closer definition, because different people use it differently. BTW, there are few people arguing that gender has NO connection to biology. Just that the connection is sometimes not complete and determinant. Any more than being Asian is determinant of being small or a good student, or being Black means you can sing. Wendy P.

Well, in the 60's in the south, it was the yellow dog democrats who wanted the minority-loving Republicans out of their lives so they could just go on living they way they had. Wendy P.

No, they want to allow you to permit the cutting off of your own balls, and to allow parents to consider that option with severely impacted children. It’s a last resort for them, kind of like considering amputation for a child with life-threatening cancer, or even ones with malformed limbs. Why they even allow parents to decide to operate on children’s brains for cochlear implants, when there are plenty of happy deaf people out there. In none of those cases is the worst possible outcome guaranteed; why is gender (and especially the gender of transgender girls and women) such an issue? People rarely complain about transgender men. Maybe, but most of them were in other countries, and unaffected by war. Nothing close to that many have died in Ukraine. BTW, the 46 biolabs (that’s not even a word) was made up by that reliable source of right-wing bait drivel, the Gateway Pundit. Wendy P.
