  1. A Ford Pinto. Not sure how many of them are still out there, but they have a history of catching fire once rear ended. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Not sure what the weather will be like in Eloy this weekend. But I will be there to do some jumping from Thursday through Sunday and many of the loads I will be doing will be flying with my new wingsuit. Originally I was supposed to hook up with a friend who's a BMI. But that doesn't look like it'll happen now. So I was wondering if there are any sort of exercises I should be doing as a new wingsuit flier? (I've made a grand total of three wingsuit jumps to date). I'm not really looking for the same info that my original BMI gave me, but instead looking for info I can use towards learning off of those first few dozen jumps. Ideas ... anyone? 3. It sucks when one of your friends dies. We are rapidly approaching the one year aniversary of the death of one of our own very good friends (FreeFlyHol). April 19th, 2003 was a sad day for many of us. Blue Skies ... Black Death ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Getting back? I've got to pay ... not as much as last year ... but I still owe $$$. Of course I believe it is actually better to either break even or owe money to uncle sam. Otherwise you've just given the Feds an interest free loan for the last year. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Actually the aviation weather websites (ADDS and AOPA) are more accurate and provide much more detailed info. But you need to know how to decifer the aviation weather lingo. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. I use a number of different weather sources. They usually report the same weather story, but in different ways. 1) Skydiving Weather 2) National Weather Service 3) Aviation Digital Data Service 4) Airplane Owners and Pilots Association Note: The AOPA weather service is the best (IMHO), but it's not free and is only available through an annual membership fee. But as a pilot, AOPA is a must service to belong to. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Sounds like someone needs to find herself a sugar-daddy. As far as this thread is concerned... I've used Travelocity, Orbitz and Priceline and for the most part didn't notice much of a difference in prices (yes doing concurrent searches at the same time). But for the life of me, I will never understand how these ticket agents come up with their prices. I've seen the same flight advertized with radically different prices. Or I've seen prices radically higher for making multiple connections. It just doesn't make sense at times. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. So sue me ... Or better yet, why don't you get up there and get some of your own pictures (of virtually every corner of the USA). Until then stop complaining and accept what is available. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. This is what you want. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Not necessarily. A great goalie can beat a good team on virtually any day. "Duck the Fevils" ... I say Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I'd like to see Philly win this series. But I doubt it'll happen. "Duck the Fevils" ... I say Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Casie ... Casie ... Casie I didn't see most of last night's game (I was playing volleyball), but I was happy to see that the Avs found a way to win and win at home (something that they haven't been able to do). You may or may not lose interest once your beloved Stars are possibly eliminated (I know my interest isn't ultra high right now and the Avs and Habs are still alive). But last night was only the first night in a long road (two months) of hockey virtually every night towards crowning a new Stanley Cup Champ. "Duck the Fevils" I say ... 13. I guess you can say that I haven't officially joined the flock until the new wingsuit is hooked up to a rig and I'm jumping out of an airplane wearing the rig+suit. But I have taken one step closer to the flock as my first (beer) wingsuit has arrived and it sure looks purty. But no pictures are available yet as I'm still in the coal mines (which would be work for this camper). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Unless you're into CReW, hook knives are only to be used as a last resort on your reserve canopy (such as a line over on your reserve). Chances are that most of us will never need to use it, but it's nice to know that it's there. Also, it's not a bad idea to carry more than one as I was told by our local CReW dogs that there's a decent chance you will drop the first one when you go for it. 15. Dang teach that guy some canopy control skills and you've got yourself a BASE jumper? He's got the aerobatics and PLF techniques down. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. It's at times like this where I encourage people to read and understand my signature line. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. If you are concerned about having compatable canopy sizes, then you shouldn't worry. I have a similar setup using a Crossfire2 139 and a Spectre 150 both in rigs with PD143R reserve canopies. But if you are more concerned with whether or not you can safely land that PD160R in the worst possible conditions (landing downwind in a tight area being knocked out or injured to the point where you can not flare), then that is a whole different can of worms. From my limited real reserve ride + demo reserve ride experiences (only three jumps using a demo reserve), the reserve canopy will come in a lot steeper than even your 7 cell Spectre will and the flare will be different. To date I have stood up my four reserve canopy jumps, but what would happen to me if I couldn't flare? Hmmm ... I don't even want to think about it. 18. Fine, I'll round up. LOL ... not that it matters (because it doesn't), but I am slowly catching up to Sunshine. Of course it doesn't help that she's currently on the injured reserved list. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. [mental note to self] Don't mess with Riddler's post-whoring history as the same post-whoring can be used against myself. [/mental note to self] On a side note, how come years in sport can not be entered as a fraction (or decimal value) as opposed to the simple integer. I've been in the sport for almost 21 months now, but I didn't want to enter 2 years as being in the sport (at least not until July 14th, 2004). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. That first guy went on for what looked like forever (I hope he made it back to a clear area to land in because all I saw was forest beyond that 2nd body of water). Awesome video though and it makes me look forward to the day when I can do the same thing with a wingsuit off of a big-wall cliff ... maybe ... 21. I'm glad you had a good day of jumping and yes the scenery down in Canon City is nice and the Caravan is a great jump plane. But I did five jumps at Mile-Hi on Sunday (the so called foggy day that you assumed that only you guys were jumping in) and I could have done much more if I had gotten there earlier (I didn't start jumping until about noon). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Ya, but now I will constantly be reminded to bug Riddler to jump more and post less. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Last year at the inugural Bytch Boogie, myself and about 10 or so other people made a sunset cross-country flight where they dropped us several miles over the ocean and we flew our canopies back to the DZ. Here are a few pictures which I captured from my camcorder on that dive. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Well physical issues don't really qualify as being lazy now do they? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. My home DZ where I learned is far from perfect (I actually hope they see this). But I jump there for several reasons: 1) It is the closest DZ to where I live. 2) It has the best weather for all the DZs in the state. 3) It has the best landing area in the state. 4) I have friends there to jump with. 5) Since the former DZO's death, some good improvements have been made. But it is still far from a perfect DZ. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
