I went on today to look for fares, since I figure after Rita hits, the prices will go up, and I am having trouble finding anything that will wotk for much under $500! I tried other airports as far away as 3 hours, but when I figure in gas and expenses, it all comes out pretty close. Damn, this might not be doable. Buried 0 #304 September 23, 2005 hmm. I bought tickets on united a mth ago for under 200$. Now they seem to be between 260-300, so not as drastic of a difference as you may be finding. I would suggest air-tran or another airline. I'm not sure how delta's prices are since they said they were declaring bankruptancy. Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? Philly is 3 hours and is the cheapest at around $300, but factor in about $60 for gas (maybe more after Rita) and $40 for parking, and probably $80 for a hotel since I would have to leave early in the morning to fit my schedule, otherwise I would be leaving my house at like 2 am to drive 3 hours, and you are right back to near $500. That means as long as we don't take advantage (10 or 15 people in 1 room), folks can save quite a bit. I would say 6 or 8 in a double room would be reasonable.
