benny 0 #27 December 21, 2003 Quote I don't think Denzel Washington was in any skydiving flicks. Are you maybe referring to Wesley Snipes? I think he was in Dropzone.... Ha! yeah, my bad, Denzel... i figured that one out about 10 seconds afte i posted... Never go to a DZ strip show.
sdgregory 0 #28 December 21, 2003 Cutaway is the absolutely worste film I have ever seen. I just saw it for the first time about 3 weeks ago. It really was bad and yet somehow I watched it 3 times in two days. I must be addicted to skydivng. I like Dropzone (Wesley Snipes not Denzel). I do not remember much about Terminal Velocity and I cannot find Gypsy Moths anywhere.

What did you do in the movie?"We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." ernokaikkonen 0 #32 December 25, 2003 QuoteWe had a discussion once on our DZ, about whether or not a person without a rig can hold onto another skydiver thru opening. General concensus was No, but then I showed them it could be done: by getting the tape of Charlie's Angels out of my car and showing the first couple minutes Ever heard of a Mr. Bill jump? Lee03 0 #33 December 25, 2003 If I remember correctly, there was a pretty good skydiving scene in "The Wild Geese" from a C-130. If you want a real classic, and can find it.. get copies of the old TV show "Ripcord", that goes back a ways!-------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
oldfart 0 #34 January 20, 2004 Terminal Velocity....I love Nastasia Kinski!Still hot!Charlie Sheen is a great smartass as always, flying penis great line. Dropzone...entertaining but wish Hollywood would dump the no rig, fall out after someone with a 10 second or more lead, catch them and bring them down under one chute gag.Gets old and even the whuffos are catching on. Cutaway...a little lame as a movie but more realistic on the skydiving, not as many silly gags. Moonraker..hilarious "Jaws" bounce scene. The Right Stuff has a really nice ejection seat scene with a nice freefall by Joe Svec.Understand he went in doing it.Anyone know what happened? Point Blank..Nice freefall stuff, but you can't talk in freefall! Gypsy Moths..Awesome nostalgia film.Great stuff from the late great Carl Boenish. Surely Hollywood can come up with a better gag to replace the no rig, catch em before they bounce routine. It's old now.Anyone care to come up with something to replace it?How about a chase scene under canopies with guns? oldfart 0 #35 January 20, 2004 Yes.There was a fictionalized Hollywood version and I think it was called, the Pursuit of DB Cooper or something like that.Late 70's early 80's I think. All I remember is a nice tail exit from a 727.Military surplus gear. oldfart 0 #36 January 20, 2004 QuoteAnyone who made their first jump before about 1982 will realize that the portrait of parachuting in Fandango is very realistic. That's what makes it soooo funny. Made my first jump in '78 on an Army surplus T-10.I'll have to check that one out.
PlayDough 0 #37 January 23, 2004 Imax is showing a film based on skydiving/base jumping. I've not seen it yet... however I do have plans to attend showing this weekend. The preview seems to show everything pretty well. I'm anxious to see it. jaybo 0 #39 January 23, 2004 Why does any self respecting jumper entertain these films as worthy to watch? (No offense Bill, your the best). The exception being XXX, I'd like to have been to the Bridge for that one. Get films made by skydivers for skydivers.
StoofUK 0 #40 January 24, 2004 Not quite a film, but there is quite a bizarre music video out featuring skydiving babies and heaving bosoms.... http://stream.qtv.apple.com/qtv/videoc/http/boog001/boog001_http_300_ref.mov

WrongWay 0 #42 January 24, 2004 QuoteDoesn't Austin Powers skydive into his car in the beginning of Goldmember? I'm not sure if I'm remembering the movie right though. I know he's coming from the sky and landing into his car. He might be paragliding. I can't remember at all. Was he skydiving or paragliding? Anybody know? That was Eli Thompson of the Flyboyz. They made him a pretty British flag Stiletto, and I believe he flew it through a canyon in Utah. Not quite sure about that location, but the rest is for sure true. mccordia 74 #45 January 25, 2004 The Right Stuff also has some limited skydiving thrown in the mix near the end (yeager bailing out of his plane, freefalling while his face is burning) I think BJ Worth did those stunts (not sure, but I vaguely remember reading his name in the credits)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
