You could believe what Fox tells you on that front, or you could listen to actual members of this very forum who live in California, Illinois and New York...the latter might require some critical thinking.

And would cause cognitive dissonance for conservatives.

I've always thought it would be fun (but somewhat cruel) to tell conservatives you were going to drop them in, say, Portland Oregon, and tell them to be ready to defend themselves against the murderous Antifa hordes that rule the city.  If they didn't have a heart attack they'd be floored by what the place is really like.

Being a critical thinker I prefer to look at data rather than listen to anecdotes.

No it’s because too many New Yorkers are moving to Florida

“In 2022, most people moving to Florida came from New York. And although Hypewired’s study showed Florida as New Yorkers’ first choice, Rhode Island had the highest amount of searches related to moving to Florida.”

So you're positing that Floridians are moving to TX because they're trying to escape the hoards of liberals moving there from New York...Is there anything happening anywhere in the country that your brain is unable to blame on libs?

We've already derailed the Ukraine thread enough, methinks.

Back on track, there are reports that Ukraine has downed a Russian A-50 radar surveillance plane (equivalent of US AWACS) and damaged an IL-22 command & control plane.
Both are quite valuable, and neither is something Russia has a lot of.

https://www.politico.eu/article/ukraine-russia-war-plane-shot-down-a50-il22/

One more thing that Russia doesn't have a lot of is...

Troops.

There have been rumors that they don't have much (if any) reserves left. If they need to reinforce a position, they have to pull troops from somewhere else.

They've tried to take Adiivka, but have basically repeated the battle of Bakhmut all over. Human wave attacks that gain a little bit of ground at the cost of hundreds of soldiers. Repeat this a bunch of times and thousands of soldiers are dead.

Slim was touting the fact that Ukraine had made little advance over summer and fall. While he's correct in that respect, he conveniently ignored the reality that Russia has tried a LOT  harder and done virtually nothing. At huge costs in men and equipment.

So they're almost out of soldiers, and Putler doesn't want to have another draft call up with elections close (not that he has any chance of losing).

Control of the Black Sea. No other bragging of the Russian grain embargo because there is none. Ukraine is currently exporting 4 million tons per month and not a Russian ship, or sub to be seen.

Absolutely right. So why not join the snowflake brigade and support Biden's desire to take many more out of mothballs and send them to Ukraine?

I do support it. What makes you think I don’t?

You support it if you get something else in return or you are happy to say fuck it then: the antithesis of Kennedys antimetabole which defined the true meaning of patriotism.

"First things first."

That's why.

"I would totally have helped that little old lady who collapsed in the parking lot!  But first things first.  Until we get that traffic light put in at the corner of 5th and Market, we can't get distracted by things like calling 911 or doing CPR.  It's just plain common sense!"

We can secure our southern border AND support Ukraine at the same time. It seems a very sensible approach.

Don’t forget to add on finding the missing sock and not burning the pop tarts. It’s America, we can do it all and at the same instant.

You can. You can also not make one a condition of the other.

Unfortunately, both you specifically and the rest of your party (the ones who aren't actively pro-Russian) have made it explicitly clear that Ukraine is quite far down the list of your political priorities, to the point that it is completely expendable unless it can be used to leverage action on those other priorites.

That's why people say you don't support Ukraine - because you have been quite open about the fact that you don't really care.

It’s called politics. BTW 75% of voters feel something should be done to stem the flood of illegals pouring into our country. Unfortunately Biden is held hostage to the far left wing of his party.

What it’s called is partisan politics which, sadly for many, is subordinate to patriotism.

Exactly, you don't support Biden on aid to Ukraine because playing politics is more important to you.

BTW, 'do something' /= 'do exactly what the Republican far-right wants'.

Sorry to disappoint you but for radical Iowa republicans rated the economy four points ahead of immigration. Iowa primaries hasn't picked a presidential winner for decades. As illustrated by the fact that 59% would ban abortions nationwide.

But 64% would still want trump to be president if convicted of a crime. Evidently a rape conviction doesn't mean much for them. Then of course 65% of Iowa republicans  believe Joe Biden stole the election.

Brent you should move to Iowa where you'll be really at home.

Actually I was born there, in Davenport.
I must have missed something, when was Trump convicted of rape?

Ah yes he was "only" ruled to be liable for sexual abuse. And then the judge had to come out and say that colloquially that is rape.

God forbid this happened to your wife, but could you imagine telling her, honey come on now, you weren't raped, you were just fingered against your will?

Do better. Trump is a rapist by how the term is generally used.
