There are a lot of offenses that the statute of limitations apply to...I agree that a number of them should not.

All sex offenses shouldn't have an expiration date of prosecution IMO.
They create a lifetime of problems for the victims.

I agree about the severity of many sex crimes (indecent exposure for streaking is now considered a sex crime), but the statute of limitations has important practical foundations. It can be very hard to give someone a fair trial decades later when physical evidence is missing, people's memories have changed, witnesses can't be found, etc.

That being said, Hastert is a monster.

Useless argument. All that can be determined at trial or during grand jury proceedings. No reason to have statue of limitation on criminal offences.
