New World Order

The New World Order that I fear is socialist. I'd like to think that if I'm creative and work hard I might have some effect on the outcomes of my life. I don't want to be much more dependant on my government to do things for me than I already am, and I certainly am not comfortable with them making any more decisions for me than they already do.

I see the likes of Stern and Ayers and Soros having too much sway in the affairs fo the government now. I believe their goal is a world that is devoid of the opportunity to pursue happiness as I define it.

Every day I see people who are blindly following along a path I would find frightening. For years blacks have supported Democrats and what has it gotten them. Union members follow along in lock step never realizing the harm the union does until it's too late. Both gave over critical thinking and left it to others to decide.

Shall I go on? Pretty soon this could start looking like a manifesto.
Please don't dent the planet.

I don't want to go off on Beck here but I'm using him as a familiar example. He frequently mentions the "New World Order" and I'm curious why he and other people so afraid of that?

what do you envision a new world order being?
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
Abraham Lincoln

Well, there are some that would say what our founding fathers were trying to create in breaking away from monarchies was a new world order which makes me curious about Beck's and other's selective interpretation of that.

Ok

But I do not hear Beck very often so I dont know the context he is speaking of
Do you have an idea?

and again

I get a feeling from your first post that a new world order may not be a bad thing, so that is why I asked you what you thought a new world order (in your mind) would be or look like
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
Abraham Lincoln

To me, the term "New World Order" is meaningless until I read someone else's definition, and then I know what it means for them.

It's just a catchphrase that requires definition. I can imagine many new world orders, but the vast majority of them would require some sort of violent large-scale (i.e. multi-nation) upheaval, either social or physical. Generally those are bad things.

Agreed

Well, while I don't listen to him, I doubt he is referring to the body of teachings of the Bahá'í Faith, the WCW, books or albums by nobodies.

He might be talking about this. Just a thought. And since the phrase has grown beyond its initial definition, it generally refers to either a huge "one-world" government of totalitarian control, or it is just used to mention a time of significant changes to the world political landscape.

Used by someone like Beck, I'm sure it means getting to a world totalitarian regime through socialism. Used by people who hate Beck, I'm sure it means getting to a world totalitarian regime through fascism. Funny how both routes get to the same end.

While I have no desire for a world totalitarian socialist regime, I think I would like a fascist one even less.

Even if the trains did run on time.

From Wikipedia:
Quote

Fascists believe that a nation is an organic community that requires strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong. They claim that culture is created by the collective national society and its state, that cultural ideas are what give individuals identity, and thus they reject individualism

Quote

A socialist society is organized on the basis of relatively equal power-relations, self-management, dispersed decision-making (adhocracy) and a reduction or elimination of hierarchical and bureaucratic forms of administration and governance; the extent of which varies in different types of socialism. This ranges from the establishment of cooperative management structures to the abolition of all hierarchical structures in favor of free association.

If nothing else, the people who write about socialism clearly have better vocabularies.

What amazes me is that you are familiar enough with what he says to have an opinion.

I think I made it through about five minutes of him once, and had to turn off the teevee. I have not been tempted to linger on a channel featuring him since then.

From Wikipedia
"...any period of history evidencing a dramatic change in world political thought and the balance of power"

Commonly used by the "have-nots" in their desire to become "haves". It doesn't matter what route it takes to get there as long one gets there.
Hence, socialism, fascism...whatever. Just get me the goods and I'm with you!
My reality and yours are quite different.

I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the Bank. ... You are a den of vipers and thieves.
—Andrew Jackson in 1834 on closing the Second Bank of the United States.[2]
