Bea Arthur was NEVER in the USMC. She was never recruited. The entire thing is a myth and continues to be repeated via the wishful (some might actually say mean spirited) thinking of others.

As a matter of fact, I did know that. My Dad, who was in the Navy on a destroyer and involved in 9 of the invasions there, told me. While I was watching 'McHale's Navy'! I really gotta work on my humor!
