IS Unemployment dropping?

Yes, unemp was in freefly; 3.4% incr from Feb 08 to Feb 09, slowed and rose another 2% as Obama quickly enacted the stimulus, was 10.1 at it's )ct 09 peak, now has come down to 9.7. Not a great number, but considering when the recession was not nearly as bad, no banking/wall street failure, the unemp shot to 10.8 under FR's direction.

Quote

TN just announced another 1000 Jobs lost today alone! 800 cuts in the State and 200 at BAE, a Body Armor company. They also have major school district layoffs but no numbers yet, it is estimated to be in between 800 and 1100 more lost jobs.

Things are not good on the job front. The stimulus headed off a lot of teacher cuts, remember? But they are better than they were in Jan 09; a fucking lot better.

Quote

Where I work we had to lay off a few folks, cut salaries and benefits to keep the company open. We are also looking at more cuts in staffing and freelancers to save money to keep the small staff we do have employed.

That's bad, but statistically insignificant. Unemp is 9.7 using the same basic criteria it was under FR's 10.8 and so on.

From where I am sitting, things aren't looking to rosy yet.
I hope this phased in fix starts to work soon.

Of the major recessions, late 70's, early 80's and early 90's, this recovery is the fastest for having the deepest of the 3. When your dipshit sat there and wanted to watch the economy fix itself, you didn't bitch. Now you do now that Obama has to get dirty to fix it; I think you would embrace apatheic nonthingness more.

I hope this phased in fix starts to work soon.

Oh thank goodness.. welcome to the good side of the force Matt... We can accept that you waffle back and forth.. its OK...

the pundits figure layoffs are coming because of this new law.. and the current uptick has nothing to do with it other than by chance.... Spend a week with me and we will think the same and we would stop this pointless banter...

Are you related to Stanley? He said the market would crash 6 months ago. Sometimes best to keep your prognostications quiet.

A note for you conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians and all groups that dislike this HC ... I've had most of my adult life to be plastered with the BS you enjoy, seen a debt taken from 900B to 12.5T mostly under your hero's leadership, all the breaks gone to the rich, corp-loving fascist turds and the general direction of the nation for the rich at the cost of the poor and working people.

I guess you've had it your way for so long that it will take a 2 or 3 of these bills, tax increases, etc before you see how it feels. You're kinda like the rich spoiled kid that for once doesn't get his or her way.

Really?

For all Lucky's whining about Bush, his hero has added 41% of Bush's TOTAL increase in the debt in 14% of the time - and that was BEFORE the HC bill went through.

The debt has increased 2T under Obama. over 1/3 of that is the stimulus which has yeilded great things so far. A chunk of that is for your wars and the rest is basically greatly, greatly reduced receipts that were well in place as Obama took office; do you need me to reference the pathetic receipts due to GWB's tax cuts coupled with his economic mess in the way of data?

Reciepts were down to nothing as GWB left office, that is responsible for most of the debt increase and need to pass stimulus. How was the reciepts picture and budget when your hero took office? Oh yea, there were surplusses everywhere and huge receipts.

Now, you were saying?

Sorry you're having such comprehension problems - I was saying that your hero has racked up 41% of Bush's total increase in 14% of the time. Put another way, Obama's increase in 419 days took Bush 4 years to do.

Can't WAIT to see what the next three years are going to do.

You know the saying about making assumptions?
Don't presume to know who I voted for.

In TN the Stimulus did not stop our Teacher Cuts.
SOME of our "Shovel Ready Projects started and others stopped, State claims the money did NOT come in.

We may be insignificant to your numbers, but those families may very well be waiting for the phased in HC bill and hoping the two parties can get their heads out of their asses fast, so they have some thing to live off of. But to their credit one took a job at McD's and others are cutting grass.

because that's not my point. spin that response how you will. But that's not my point.

You're apparently into blanket generalizations, and I'm not. You probably also quote polls and statistics. (even though I'm sure you know how easy it is to skew poll and statistics)

I dunno, ask FR, he signed the amnesty law in 1986, he's yoru hero; you're kinda slapping yourself in the ass if you have an issue with illegal immigration.

Yet, unlike his taxcuts, which you despise, you embrace flooding with work market with several million workers, who's agenda is not the $150,000 cookie cutter house and the suv....You do know that they can come here, for ten years, send their money south, and live like kings, for a long time, right?
So, you do think FR did something right.

Ha ha. You DO realize that Reagan, Dubya and McCain were all immigration reformers who either did, or wanted to give amnesty to illegals in one form or another? No, I guess you don't.

Yes, I do, and I've never liked it.

I'm not saying you, your family or all of Tennessee are insig, I'm saying that if possible data must be:

1) Random

2) Large sample size

Right, the RW IS lockstepped which isn't all bad, at least they get more mileage from their representatives than do the Dems.

Stats are relevant if viewed objectively, or, better yet, each element is tested seperately as an independent variable.

No, it's about distribution of wealth, you call it punishment, but that's slang. R's distribute it to t eh top, let the corps hand it out as they see fit, the Dems distribute it more evenly. Economically American Capitalism as endeared by the Republicans is most like Communism as far as its distribution; Socialism is more off to the side.

Sadly, for you, it is you who has comprehension probs. I fullly understand what you're saying, I agree, the debt has increased 2T under Obama, 41% give-or-take as much as GWB; where was the miscomprehension?

I established where the 2T went, who inherited what and so forth, It is those facts that you do not want to touch. Here they are again:

The debt has increased 2T under Obama.

-- over 1/3 of that is the stimulus which has yeilded great things so far.

-- A chunk of that is for your wars

-- and the rest is basically greatly, greatly reduced receipts that were well in place as Obama took office;

I broke it down for you, can you argue anything?

The right isn't lockstepped. In fact, the conservatives are starting to turn on their own:

that was a reasonable response... who are you and what have you done with lucky??? never mind that. can you stay??

Id add that when viewing stats, knowing where the numbers came from is good. for instance, alcohol related traffic accidents... dont know if its still true (likely) but at some point, if there was an intoxicated passenger, it was considered alcohol related. those are the stats MADD liked to quote.

and polls... know the sample size, domain, and (rarely vailabel) questions asked.
