Quoteyes, John we know guns are all good in your mind.
You don't like it when people accuse you of being against all guns, so then why would you use that exact same argument in the reverse extreme against me? You know it's untrue. So much for you sticking to the high ground.

Your lame attempts to justify allowing mentally ill people and convicted felons to have guns is just absurd.

What I say – “Gun laws have no effect on the criminals and only ensnare those who are they type to follow laws anyway”
What they hear – “I have no concern about violence and don’t care how many people get shot so long as I can own a howitzer”
Thanks for proving the statement.

He's not. He seems to have opposed ineffective additional laws in lieu of simply enforcing the existing laws, which when enforced, do prohibit the mentally ill and felons from owning.

Authorities say two masked men came in and ordered the customers to the floor and the employees to a back room. One of the customers had a concealed weapon. He reportedly pulled out his gun and told the two men to wait for cops to show up. Sheriff's say the suspected robber, a 19-year-old, then turned his gun toward the diner. That's when the customer shot and killed him.Story: http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/298946/28/South-Carolina-Waffle-House-customer-shoots-kills-robbery-suspect
Why would this citizen think to carry a gun just to go eat a waffle? What a nut! Wouldn't it have been better if the robbers had been allowed to herd everyone into the back room, and possibly kill them? Of course it would! Vigilante action like this should never be approved. Damn these gun nuts!

Hopefully he didn't keep his guns and his candy in the same spot like this LEO idiot:
***
police said the boy climbed onto a chair near his parents' bedroom closet and grabbed his father's duty weapon and accidentally shot himself in the head.
On Monday, a county police officer testified that Thompson said he kept snacks and cakes in the closet with the guns.***

Well, that's the whole point, isn't it? Existing laws aren't easy to enforce because they are so easy to circumvent.
We see that almost daily.

So your beef should be with the police, not the Legislature.
Problem is, the solutions you have alluded to would not allow that
