Another Nutter with a Gun

the kid's intention to protect her home and property is commendable - though I'd have preferred she just got away and called the cops

It's not the home and property that I would be worried about. Two burglars finding a 15-year-old girl coming out of the shower, could easily lead to rape and murder. I'm glad she had a gun with which to drive off the intruders and save herself.

agreed - I'd also have been happier if she'd have left the house altogether is that option was there. (I'm a dad of a 16 year old girl). If she doesn't know how to handle that gun, and they take it away from her, now you have two pissed off crooks that are even more likely to escalate beyond just stealing a truck.

Short of it is - Dad left a gun lying around in a house with his kid untrained to use it. If she's trained, then I'm much more agreeable to the conversation. But since she's not, Dad screwed up.

She didn't know how to use the gun, and it was VERY unlikely she would have been able to fire it at the criminals if they forced her to.

Look - I believe in knowledgable gun ownership, that training can come from dad, or a course, or whatever and not be defined or restricted by the government.

I'm not a fan of someone having an unsecured gun around if they don't how to use it responsibly.

And we know guns are all bad in yours.

Why didn't you catch that on your future crime machine and call the cops?

Strawman. I have no problem with guns in the hands of sane, law abiding adults.

Problem is, the solutions you have alluded to would not allow that

if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

So was your inference that JR was ok with guns in the hands of a pre-schooler.

yes, John we know guns are all good in your mind.

You don't like it when people accuse you of being against all guns, so then why would you use that exact same argument in the reverse extreme against me? You know it's untrue. So much for you sticking to the high ground.

His parents must have been nuts to leave their kids home alone with a loaded shotgun!

Looks like the surviving crooks are going to be in a legal battle for their lives..........B| Crooks stink.

Why would a college student need to wear a gun just to go to the grocery store to get orange juice? He must be a nutter!

Your lame attempts to justify allowing mentally ill people and convicted felons to have guns is just absurd.

What I say – “Gun laws have no effect on the criminals and only ensnare those who are they type to follow laws anyway”
What they hear – “I have no concern about violence and don’t care how many people get shot so long as I can own a howitzer”

Thanks for proving the statement.

He's not. He seems to have opposed ineffective additional laws in lieu of simply enforcing the existing laws, which when enforced, do prohibit the mentally ill and felons from owning.

This is probably the most level headed comment here, in this thread, to date.

Another nutter with a gun:
Authorities say two masked men came in and ordered the customers to the floor and the employees to a back room. One of the customers had a concealed weapon. He reportedly pulled out his gun and told the two men to wait for cops to show up. Sheriff's say the suspected robber, a 19-year-old, then turned his gun toward the diner. That's when the customer shot and killed him.

Why would this citizen think to carry a gun just to go eat a waffle? What a nut! Wouldn't it have been better if the robbers had been allowed to herd everyone into the back room, and possibly kill them? Of course it would! Vigilante action like this should never be approved. Damn these gun nuts!

Hopefully he didn't keep his guns and his candy in the same spot like this LEO idiot:

***
police said the boy climbed onto a chair near his parents' bedroom closet and grabbed his father's duty weapon and accidentally shot himself in the head.

On Monday, a county police officer testified that Thompson said he kept snacks and cakes in the closet with the guns.***

LAME STRAWMAN.

Why do you call him a nut? He seems like a sane law abiding citizen to me. Can you point to a SINGLE post where I have objected to sane law abiding citizens having guns?

Well, that's the whole point, isn't it? Existing laws aren't easy to enforce because they are so easy to circumvent.

We see that almost daily.

So your beef should be with the police, not the Legislature.
