North Carolina church to burn ‘Satan’s books,’ including works of Mother Teresa

A Baptist Church near Asheville, N.C., is hosting a "Halloween book burning" to purge the area of "Satan's" works, which include all non-King James versions of the Bible, popular books by many religious authors and even country music.

"I believe the King James version is God's preserved, inspired, inerrant and infallible word of God," Pastor Marc Grizzard told a local news station of his 14-member parish.

"It is not clear whether the meat will be grilled over the heat of burning Gospels."

That's the part I enjoyed the most - bwahahaha ....... :D

Seriously: They at first should contact a specialist for those questions, such as f. e. Bill Cole, before even starting a fire, seriously... man.

Maybe they can burn Bible too, it advocates antimiscegenation.....oh wait, the religious right does too, obviously by recent events. Nevermind

Uh, exactly how many of Satan's works are they going to find in the possession of 14 mental Baptists?

Unless they actually go and buy some specially for the fire (thus financially rewarding the evil publishers and boksellers) it sounds like it'll be a pretty uninspiring event...

Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Hi 9o8,
Interesting, The "King James version" as "Gods' preserved, inspired, inerrant and infallible word!!" Hmmmmm???? Do battle with the Pope as,"His word is suppose to be 'Infallible??'" And I always thought of the King James version as,"Revisionist!!"

But what about the New King James version of the Bible? Must that be burned as well? Or does it get a pass because it's _almost_ the preserved, inspired, inerrant and infallible word of God? And how about the Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek originals? If King James was the only infallible version (and since it often does not agree with the source material it was translated from) surely the originals should be burned.

Are you, by any chance, expecting logic from religious fundamentalists?

That's incorrect. Witches burn because they're made of wood. :P

Exactly. So how do we tell if she's made of wood?

Cats are much too easily distracted to write a screenplay.

Yep. Anyone who disagrees with the current administration must be a book burning fundamentalist.

Of course not; you're twisting that poster's words so that you can argue against the "twisted" version. Nice try. But in any event, you'd have a hard time persuading me that 9 out of 10 book burning fundamentalists are not also among the most strident opponents (in extremity of word and deed) of the current administration.

I bet these are the same type of people judging and portraying the current administration as Hitler...

Yep. Anyone who disagrees with the current administration must be a book burning fundamentalist. I bet they've all got tin foil hats, too.

speaking of fundamentalist fanatics, I was amused by the irony of imnotlost's post as well

well, it did look like a lot of fun as a thread gambit in the 2000-2008 years, so why not?

So in other words ..... you advocate the strangling of kittens. I shall now compose an argument against that. Since it's the position you so obviously advocate.
