How are y'all doin' in the workout dept?

Just checkin' to see who were the stupids who made fitness a New Year's Resolution. I made it one last year and managed to drop from a 36"w to a 31"w now.

Stupid me, I made fitness a stupid NYR again this year, and so far I'm coming along okay. How are y'all doin?

Well, fitness was not really my new year's resolution. I relly try not to ever make one. But, I started going back to the gym a little over a month ago. So far, so good. I've been pretty good about going, but at the same time if I don't make it there no big deal.

Well it wasn't a new years resolution....actually I can't remember what that was.:P

I was planning on getting in better shape, but until my wrist can handle don't more than me taking it for a walk. Anyway as soon as I'm cleared to normal activity, I'll be back trying to tone up.

Oh just remember my New years resolution...it was to quit eating red meat.....so far so good. B|

Cutting down on the running for a while and working on strength/mass along with grappling. Doing cardio on the stationary bike for at least 20 mins.

I have a fond regard and respect for those who make 'resolutions' and honor them. I have thus far failed in attempts to maintain resolutions that are absent true inspiration. As far as that goes my inspirations for self-improvement seem fatefully doomed to being constructively developed through processes of trial and error.

I am satisfied with my waist size, or else I'd change it. I don't care for how much I have smoked so I cut down. I decided I will give what I can when I can.

With all things likewise considered I have a lot to be grateful for. The impetus for change in my life generally comes from sources outside; the dedication to maintain comes from inspiration.

Geez!!! that sounds just way too serious?! How bout;
I feel fat, i drink/smoke too much, I'm too lazy to start working out (again) and I just don't care right now!!! I'm going to take a nap.

It's finally sinking in that I'm getting old. Have tried to get more serious about working out. I've been to the gym about 4 days a week since Fall. I spend about 45 minutes on weights and about 20 on the treadmill. Cutting back on calories. Have lost about eight pounds since New Years. All I need to do now is stick with it. I hate dieting, but I also hate being fat. Exercise alone wasn't enough. Steve1

Hehe! Since last May, I've lost like 30 pounds (when my roommate moved out, she took her twirly fwirlies with her!) But, I'm still not feeling like I used to...you know...being able to run 3 miles and say "Maybe I should run one more!", not feeling like taking a nap at 1 pm. I guess I didn't realize just how fast my metabolism slowed down from high school.

I have kicked it back into high gear as of the new year. After a years worth of surgeries and missing the daily workout, I have a long road back to my days of doing marathons, but so far so good. I put about 9 hours on the stationary bike last week along with lifting and some aerobics. I start running tomorrow. Marathon is in September already signed up so I can't back out. Only way to keep up is to sign up for the future race so I have a goal to shoot for. But WOW do I hurt today.

This sore knee is slowing me down, limiting my attendance at Tae Box classes, so I have vowed to concentrate on strength and stretching exercises until the orthopedic specialist looks at my knee next month.
Bicycling is one of the few aerobic exercises I can do without my knee hurting, so I have gone for a few hour-long rides this year. I really should try to ride every non-rainy day.
Yesterday I did a four sets of chin ups and a few stretches.
This morning you folks made me feel so guilty that I stepped away from the computer to do push-ups until my arms started burning.
Has anyone figured out what affect push-ups have on abdominal muscles?

Try standing in a push-up like position on your elbows instead of your hands for about a minute. It has a good effect on the stabilizing abdominal muscles. I guess push-ups could have a similar effect.

there i was, walking up to the 3rd floor to get to my doctor, and had to stop on the 2nd for a second to get a deep breath, before i could continue climbing the MFing stairs... and than, in the waiting room there were some 4 young and pretty girls, who looked very strangly at me while i was trying not to breath like an elephant... :S

i know that's very bad since i'm only 22 years old, but on the other hand, when it comes to skydiving, i can do 12 jumps per day with no problems...

so all i need to do now, is to apply the same mind set i have while skydiving, to activities related with sport and work out... hm, this would even work with learning...

nah, i'm to lazy :P

I found this article - kind of related to this thread. I found some of their "ideas" about what is exercise to be pretty funny. According to this article ironing is a way to start light exercising and housecleaning is considered to be bumping it up.

I've been blessed by this chronic pain condition that keeps me vigilant about keeping my weight down. I eat a very high protein diet with low carbs and exercise a little bit every single day. Stretch, situps or the wheel thing, pull-ups, pushups and curls. Walk for at least 20 minutes every day, usually with ankle weights. I don't have time to go to the gym, but this regimen has really been working for me.

I lost a hundred pounds two years ago, and kept it off, and even gained about 10 pounds of lean mass this last year. For me, it's about a little effort every single day.

I had a resolution, it involved booze (red bull& vodka on an empty stomach) and an incident back in December where I should have gone to jail. (nobody hurt, except my car). I quit drinking beer (exept the one at the swoop & chug) and started working out and eating right. I went from 195 to 165 (today) and am getting some guns too. I have no more beer belly and I can call myself slender for the first time in 15 years. And, Im in no danger of a DUI anymore.

I still drink wine. I have been eating mainly tuna right out of the can, soybeans and asparagus.

Beer is bad, people! (My citizenship from TX is automatically revoked with that statement).

I couldn't work out for the latter part of last year (hard opening left my back sore). Since the New Year, I've been doing cardio and started back at weights. It's painful to see how much less weight I can move, but it's coming back. It's easier to get back into shape than to get in shape the first time. I should be back to normal in a few months.
