Fabulous but Failed Flicks

Recommended Posts

Ok, now I am curious to know what movies everyone else digs that were NOT major ones (or ones that might not be as commonly known).

My personal favorites (along with their ratings):

They Live B|B|B|B|B|
Hell Comes to Frogtown B|B|B|B|B|
Harold and Maude B|B|B|B|:S
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen :D:PB|;):S
5 Deadly Venoms (also released under the name Wu Du) :o:)B|B|
UHF :D:D:D:D:D

I'm sure more will come to me, but I am curious what other great movies are out there that never got the attention/respect from Hollywood they deserved. ;)

Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine

More I can't believe I forgot:

Time Bandits B|B|:D:D:o
Torch Song Trilogy :$:P:o:DB|
Ice Pirates :D:DB|:D[:/]
Jeckyl and Hyde - Together Again B|B|:D:D:D

Many of these are prime candidates for USA Up All Night movies (which is where I saw most of them anyway).

Vampire's Kiss
Starship Troopers
Blood And Concrete
Sweet And Lowdown (Woody Allen's remake of La Strada)
Zero Effect (dialogue contains a nice, concise explanation to a whuffo why one isn't afraid of skydiving)
The Croupier
Brazil (creepily even more relevant if you re-watch it now)
Andy Warhol's Dracula and Frankenstein, two of the greatest low-budget camp films. Good luck finding them anywhere.

Buckaroo Banzi was bad?

Actually, that had a lot of potential to be a commercial success, but at the very last minute a huge chunk of the commercial tie-in deals fell apart and then the entire promotion for the film sorta collapsed like a house of cards. Too bad, because I thought it was pretty cool and would have liked to have seen a sequel.
