Kbone 0 #1 February 15, 2005 Why are so many threads being deleted and/or locked by the moderators? It seems to be getting a lot worse lately. While some threads are allowed to degenerate into heavy personal attacks, other threads seem to get locked by the slightest hint of a controversy. This would not bother me as much if this form of censorship were more consistent. If the moderators had specific guidelines to locking and deleting threads it would work out more fairly. I have never seen a website with this many moderators.

There's the door----> Sangiro spent a lot of time choosing the people he felt would do the best job. I've never seen him make a poor choice. edited to say....somebody call a whaaaaaambulance. happythoughts 0 #4 February 15, 2005 QuoteWhy are so many threads being deleted and/or locked by the moderators? I think it is because of the trolls. They post something just for irritation and effect. What do you think of non-skydiving trolls with made-up profiles? Do they bother you? QuoteI have never seen a website with this many moderators. Isn't it great? I can't stand what happens to the non-moderated sites. The signal-to-noise ration gets so high that nothing of value is posted and the site degenerates into simple minded name calling among 3 or 4 regulars. Kbone 0 #5 February 15, 2005 QuoteI can't stand what happens to the non-moderated sites. fair enough, but I see each moderator with their own list of hangups. Different issues piss off different moderators. Why not have a full time moderator for each section. Instead you have 30 or 40 moderators that float between "Bonfire" and "Incidents" and seem to get confused about the context of the conversations. happythoughts 0 #7 February 15, 2005 Quote fair enough, but I see each moderator with their own list of hangups. Different issues piss off different moderators. Because different people piss off different moderators in different ways, intentionally sometimes. QuoteWhy not have a full time moderator for each section. The person who runs this site has way more experience in site design matters, so I assume that he has excellent reasons. Besides, it is his sandbox. QuoteInstead you have 30 or 40 moderators that float between "Bonfire" and "Incidents" and seem to get confused about the context of the conversations I haven't seen that happen. They do an excellent job.

Are the greenies not allowed to have lives outside of this website? 30 or 40 moderators? Which website are you talking about? There are only about a dozen or so moderators here, including HH and the international forum greenies. I have not yet witnessed a moderator who has become confused about the context of a conversation. I doubt that this is a huge problem...if at all. It seems like the greenies do have the website's best interest and rules in mind, when choosing what to lock up and so forth.

gravityizsexy 0 #15 February 15, 2005 People know when they are crossing lines.... different situations call for different measures, everyone in the sitch knows where they stand, just don't hop the lines.... or you get "modded". It sucks, but sometimes it's necessary... you know better than I where personal attacks and the such would ultimately end-up, some mods just nip it the bud... Cant say im unhappy, have been to many sites that are just plain SHIT, when people decide to play by THEIR own rules. Just hope i havent (in the short past i have) pissed ANY one off.! This is a great site, keep up the good work all moderators. EDIT to fix bad spelling! A man who views the world at 50, the same as he did when he was 20, has wasted 30 yrs of his life. ChasingBlueSky 0 #20 February 15, 2005 Is it that time of year again? Guess it was time for another one of these threads. QuoteI have never seen a website with this many moderators. You haven't been around the internet much, have you? Right now I am currently playing a game that you had to spend $40 on and pay $15/month to continue playing it. They have some very strick rules and some very subject rules on what they consider "wrong" and they often change from day to day. If you break the rules in the game or on their web forums you get banned. There are no questions asked, it just happens. The moderation in that world makes this site look like pure anarchy. And this site is free unlike that one... unless you make a choice otherwise. So what exactly was it you were complaining about again? Of course, there is the solution of just not posting._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
