WatchYourStep 0 #2 July 26, 2005 You need to allow multiple choices because I do all 3. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
psipike02 0 #3 July 26, 2005 Agreed....I've done all three thus far....Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
wmw999 2,334 #4 July 26, 2005 Mostly either starved or worked for it (i.e. became rigger, jumpmaster, and instructor). In my first jumping life, I paid cash for well under 1/2 of my jumps. The only debt I've gone into for jumping has been to buy gear, and it was all very short term debt paid off in 6 months or less. Hackb431 0 #6 July 26, 2005 "..katie.. " I like that response. I am pretty sure I would do a Katie to get some gear. In fact if there is a Katie out there willing to buy me some gear PM me to work out arrangements.....you know what the hell why limit it to just Katies? If there are any ladies out there who need man work done for gear PM me! HackB A.K.A. "Puppy"
TALONSKY 0 #7 July 26, 2005 I worked 2 jobs for two years in order to fund my skydiving. Now I work at the DZ so I still have two jobs but the second one is now much more fun. Kirk
Spatula 0 #8 July 26, 2005 I'm working @ my DZ doing manifest and soon to be packing...I've learned 10x more more than the average student that comes by to jump and leaves. I
Vertifly 0 #9 July 26, 2005 you should make 'work' one of your answers. it is possible to work and make a good living while learning and skydiving frequently. i would advise you to think of a good plan a go with it. i worked, paid for my b.s. and an m.s., finished a mortgage, and in the meanwhile did about 1200 jumps. somewhere in there I started a business too. wildcard451 0 #11 July 26, 2005 took some savings from a good summer job.....then some student loans, then working as a packer......as long as I can make this sport pay for itself I am happy.
RkyMtnHigh 0 #12 July 26, 2005 I "afford" to keep up with jumping based on not having a lot of "stuff"..minimalistic lifestyle..I don't have cable, pets, or lots of furniture so it makes life easy breezy. I don't have credit cards, so I can't/don't charge anything. I don't think I starve either..I eat really well each night, but when it's time to ration, I can make a large pizza and a salad last a week if need be. _________________________________________

skydiverton 0 #18 July 28, 2005 Tandem ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
Sopheavy 0 #19 July 28, 2005 interesting to see different responses. i don't know yet about me since i've had only one jump last weekend. i bet that as soon as i get my student loan i'm gonna be so tempted to use some of it.... well the plan right now is stop eating out and stop drinking Starbucks or Jamba Juice and cut down on my photography addiction. i think i have a new boyfriend now and it's skydiving. i can't stop thinking about it.---------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- If you want to see the rainbow, you gotta put up with the storm.
