Which DZ has the best food?

Recommended Posts

Dale up at Chester, SC. slings some mean hash and he took real good care of us at the Cinco/Rodriquez Brothers Boogie.

Greg at Skydive ain't no newbie to a grill either.

Best food period? That has to be Skydive Skyranch(Siloam Springs, AR). Our DZO was a gourmet cook before he got into skydiving.

Best Commercial Food: Deland's good but I've got to give the nod to Tami and Scotty.

Ohhhh yeah I gotta second that. I've missed REAL barbecue up here in the northwest and Dale brought me back. I think I'm still drooling.

The riggers at my home DZ make a MEAN "potjie kos" - the best way to decribe it is like a big spicy stew made in a huge pot over an open fire. It has chicken and lots and lots of different types of veggies in it. You eat it with rice.

Plus i agree with Skybytch, the Bomb Shelter has some good stuff too!

but the best food EVER is Monkey fries at Aviators, Raeford, NC!

Oh, yeah.... how could I have forgotten Monkey Fries?

Now they make a chicken version as well... Chuck prefers the chicken, I prefer the shrimp!:)
I don't know which dz has the BEST but the Cafe upstairs at Spaceland ranks among the worst!!! They had like 4 12-year olds working there when I was there!:S

Slow...bad food...lousy coffee...>:(...the corner convenience store heat-'em-ups were much better.

The Dive at Skydive Dallas....so far!!!!

gotta be shitting me.. It's not that good I'd rate it a D+

They make a somewhat decent club sammich, but other than that it's pretty much greasy-fare.:|

If i had to complain about anything at skyfest, that was it.:S I understand it is under new managemant now though.

I have eaten at the Bombshelter, good food. Bent prop, usually very good. But lets face it, i don't go to a dz for the food.:D

Bingo. Besides, sometimes it's nice to get away from the DZ for a bit. Personally, I'm a big fan of Jason's Deli whenever I visit San Marcos.

Edited because I'm an idiot.;)

It was the ONLY thing I could complain about...not even the mud...we made good use of it! Although I did worry a lot on take off thinking the planes should have skis or floats instead of wheels. :D

Hands down, where ever Scotty and the Carbon Zone are cooking!

DeLand had some pretty good food while Cary (who now co-owns Sky Systems) was cooking. He's a professionally trained chef who has owned his own restaraunts. I had a feeling that having sushi and really nice meals on the DZ wouldn't last too long. Just too good to be true.

:D They deliver to SSM every weekend;) We don't have a cafe anymore, or bunkrooms for that matter.:D

Damn... I got some good breakfast at that cafe a few times. Good coffee, too. You guys never had decent bunkrooms to begin with though. I always crashed in the packing room or in my car.:P
