want to sell the dvd I'll give ya 2 bucks Hell I bought mine brand new for $5 AUD.. For some reason no one was buying it....... lol
  7. I jump a racer. It was made around 6 months after I was born. It certainly doesn't look 17!! If that doesn't say something about a rig I don't know what does!
  8. If you leave the 3-ring in the same position all the time it can bend the middle ring making it harder or maybe even impossible to cutaway bad juju
  9. I'm sure that people would understand perfectly. I have one suggestion for you. Instead of shouting your slab of root beer at the end of jumping purhaps shout it during the day when people are buying drinks anyway. I'm sure that would be highly appreciated.
  10. There was an incident concerning this reported in ASM (Australian Skydiver Magazine) last year. The picture attached explains there theory which I'm very inclined to beleive.
  11. I would most definetely hand them one of the beers they bought for there mal I'd never expect anyone to pay for my repack if I had a mal and they packed it.. and in return I'd never expect them to expect me to. Shit happens. Deal with it and move on.
  12. I've been wondering exactly the same thing... but I got one not attached with my used rig so I'll probably get it hooked up next repack. I'm confident I could do what I have to without one but I feel the pro's outway the Con's.
  13. that was you? you have no idea how many times i watched that dude! classic words...!! glad it all worked out though!
  14. Go the 3!! I think i shoulda payed attention more in geography as well! bah!!
  15. sounds like it was sponsored by the fuel companies to me.. cos its a load of crap "ahh well it COULD leak...." WOW!!... I'm sure technology could be made better so it doesn't... and how can we forget all the crap cars make anyway? thats gotta do more damage!
  16. I think its pretty close to 70.. started March 2002. Didn't get my own gear till bout 2 months ago though And i'm hoping to have my 100 by the end of the year at least!
  17. If someone asks me seriously then i'll explain to them that yes it is a risky sport and you could die but then you could die doing anything. If someone asks me thinking its a humourous matter then I don't even bother trying to educate them.. its not worth it.
  18. If you are not intentionaly deploying your reserve in the head down possition then you are not using it beyong the speed it was designed for. Many containers now are desgined for head down.. freefly friendly and are advertised to be so. I beleive that this means they have been designed with these speeds in mind.
  19. Intentional cutaway? Why cut away and have the risk of damaging your main when it lands in a tree or something? Can't you just go directly for silver if you wanna fly your spare once? Or will/can this entangle with your still in the bag main then or something? An intentional cutaway is where you where another reserve (chest mount) and deploy as normal then cutaway and deploy your reserve to simulate an actual cutaway in a situation that is not as stressful as the real thing... (At least this is how i've seen it done)
  20. I have an 'old' Icarus canopy. I beleive the D.O.M. is 1992 that I bought used a while ago but was never told the model. I emailed Icarus on this and was told its 'probably' an Icarus Alpha or Beta - Alpha being elliptical and Beta being square. Anyone have anymore info on these two canopies just out of general interest?
  21. I did a poll here that got quite a few responses... it was specifically directed at folks jumping small reserves... I guess I wasn't too surprised to hear that the people that were capable and happy flying tiny mains, were also capable and happy flying tiny reserves! Here's the Poll Reading your other thread I'm now inspired to do an intentional cutaway just before I need a repack.. Thanks dude
  22. ahhhhhhhh i see... in oz thats a brel Not sure what the Cat II is like exactly but here at least its better to get brels done.. On solo's since your not jumping with others you can't tell if your backsliding or anything like that and you pick up bad habits.
  23. Whats Cat II for us none American folk?
  24. Polycarbonate helmets are not safe to paint, they do shatter on impact. Fibreglass, kevlar and carbon helmets are all OK. Also spray paint 'melts' polystyrene... which is what lines the protec if i'm not mistaken.......
