  1. Hi guys, I have a couple of questions if I may. I have read the stickys and most of the threads on this forum. I have also read the manufacturers manuals. I just need a bit of advice from guys that actually do it. Details first: I am 52 years old, 5’7” tall and weigh about 190lb (nekkid) and have about 1650 jumps. I currently jump a Pulse-170. My goal with wingsuiting is only to enjoy myself. Maybe some flocking if I get good enough. I have been toying with the idea of getting a Phoenix-Fly Prodigy2. The reason for this is the ease of use, I have no experience and it does not cost so much if I decide I do not like wingsuiting.. My plan was to buy one then take a wingsuit course when the season starts in Norway or fly down to Empuriabrava. But reading threads on this forum I have started to have doubts. I am short, fat and round. Would I be merely a guided bomb with a Progidy2. I have read a lot of enthusiasm for the Phantom2 would that be a better bet for My kind of body shape/size? Could I start straight off with a Phantom2? Another consideration I have is I had a rotator cuff operation last year. My left shoulder is weakened. Do these suits put a lot of pressure on the shoulders? Sorry for such a long post.. Just trying to set my thoughts out.
  2. What about a Pulse? I am a 50+ Jumper and really enjoy the canopy.
  3. Especially base rigs. I expect there will be the usual dispensation for visiting jumpers.

I have heard different views on this. Wish I knew for sure. I really liek the pulse but it the characteristics I like( fast openings and good flare) are going to deteriorate over time what's the point? anyon out there with 400 jumps on a pulse that can chime in? Personally I dont know if I would be too worried about it. I think the ZP top skin would reduce the effects of the bottom skin becoming porus to a certain degree. I also think (but dont know) that it is the top skin that does the flying. Anyway I think this 400 jump figure for f-111 canopies is overdone. I did over 1200 jumps on my F-111 Firelite canopy and my brother did well over 2000 on his Pegasus. I would put the figure closer to 800 and you would have moved on by then.
  5. I think the OP has a point. I found the Sabre2 to have off heading and occasionally diving openings. A great canopy to fly but I did not like opening up in groups. I bought a Pulse instead.
  6. I think your pilot might be difficult to see in the air or on the ground if you have a cutaway. I would go for a bright color for you canopy. Bright colors almost always look cool.

Here is some of me with my Pulse 170. The pack job was a trashy flat pack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A5mHAL_TKE
  8. Quoteis there nothing yet for the iphone? Quote I use an altitrack. Once downloaded I open up the access file and choose the fields I want. Then I load it up to my Iphone with "Wireless Database Viewer Plus". Works a treat. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=144475&id=723398901&l=1da2e68696
  9. I think the issue of pulling the wrong handle is a real one. I have a metal cutaway handle so I have covered it with Plastidip http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip This gives the handle a different color and a different feel.
  10. I see the Pilot 168 zpx will fit in the I4 so a Pulse 170 should be no problem. Thanks for posting.
  11. Hi all. Can anyone tell me if a Pulse 170 will fit in an Icon I4? I will ask Aerodyne but I am curious if anyone has one in a Icon.
  12. I recently saw a V348 with a pd176 reserve. We compared my V348 with it as the jumper thought my pd160 was too loosly packed and did not look nice. I think Bigways advice is worth listening to. 160 PD will probably be the right reserve for you

I now have about 120 jumps on my pulse 170 loaded at about 1.35. I am very happy with this canopy. Packing is a treat. It has very good penetration and brings me home from long spots. I also find it light on the toggles and very responsive. (I had a Spectre 170 before the Pulse) Flaring is very predictable with little floating. I have put my nephew who is newly qualified "A" jumper on a 170 loaded at 1.1. He likes the Pulse best in comparison to a Pilot or Sabre 2 of the same size. I think this is a great canopy for the fun jumper.
  14. Empuriabrava without a doubt. I'll be flying down there next friday.

I have just ordered a pulse 170 to replace my Spectre 170. I am really looking forward to seeing to see if the smaller pack volume makes the rig look better. Vector V348 as it looks a bit bulky now. I see UPT has also adjusted its sizing chart. On the air side I am looking forward to the brisker openings I always could depend on my Firelite to open consistantly at the height I wanted. The Spectre was a bit too snively.
  16. Great thread, I was about to post something similar myself. I am 50 and weigh about 190lb, im flying a Spectre 170. To be honest my knees are shot and with fast no wind landings I am hurting myself with PLF's. I have a vector V348M So it is only going to fit a ZP 170 or a f-111 190-210. I was interested to see godziller says the landings are fine on the PD-190 and several others mention the Silhouette 170. I have got to the stage where I dont care how it flies as long as it lands soft. One great advantage with the PD-190 is the ease of packing. Is the Silhouette as easy? I must admit I loath packing my ZP.
  17. I had about 1200 jumps on my Firelite before I sold it. I never had to change anything on it and after 10 years it still looked as good as new.
  18. I recently bought the Pittz Evolution suit. I was very pleasantly suprised by the quality of the suit. I feel I got a lot for my money.
  19. I have just spent 2 weeks at Sebastion together with a buddy who was taking AFF. I have to say that the DZ was clean, the staff was very friendly and the view from altitude was great. I would reccomend Sebastian to anyone.

  21. I have been thinking hard for a week trying to come up with a cool name. The best one I could think of was "United Parachute Technologies"
  22. I quit 11 years ago because I pretty much spent my whole life on DZ's. I wanted to lead a normal life to see what that was like.
  23. Last jump 21, october 1995. Next jump 4, december 2006.
