It looks like this guy is having a really good time doing this. Close your eyes and he's a hell of a drummer. He may be channeling John Bonham. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Louis D Brandeis Where are we going and why are we in this basket?

Oh come on.. God put all those fossils there to prove he was smarter and more powerful than any "scientists" could ever hope to be. That's right! God is just fucking with us. He has a sense of humor. He created Ms. Bachman didn't he? In fact, (here's my theory) he created Republicans. Democrats evolved. Well he did create Celine Dion after all. If he could inflict that on us, there's nothing he wouldn't stoop to. Don

Who takes the stand against evil? The people who recognize what good is. The ones who call themselves christians do not have a monopoly on good. In fact there are "christians" who are evil. The Westboro Baptist Church bunch leap to mind. Where are the followers of Jesus standing up to them? The Patriot Riders do something but I doubt all of them would call themselves born again. Well that's what the bible says in leviticus 18, and the overwhelming majority of her supporters believe the bible is the inerrant word of God. So this one's pretty much out of her hands. So they want to take what it says in the old testament of the Bible and use that for the justification for killing smeone? How is that any different from Sharia law? Is there any other kind of Christian? There are all kinds of "christians." I think the real Christians are the ones who take what Jesus is quoted as saying and use those concepts as guiding princeples. His direct quotes have to do with love, compassion, forgiveness. It's all the stuff said by his posse that gets the other "christians." I've seen some athiests act more Christ-like than some religious people. This has probably been told here before but just in case... Z-Hills, C-47, Wing War days. The rear floater jumpsuit (inseam-cuff hem junction) gets pushed back between the door and the airframe. Ready, set. go everyone leaves and the floater is hanging upside down. Co-pilot looks back, plane is empty and the plane starts down. Plane lands and the pilots are wondering why everyone is running out to the plane. The guy was OK. Really torn up reserve and banged up helmet but otherwize OK. Seems lile it was a Silly Suit but it was a long time ago. Maybe lodestar can refresh the memories. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. There was a C-47 at the Hills for a while in the mid '70s that flew with both doors off, Only did it for a week or 2 because of the buffeting, wieght and balance and with the rear door off, people were comming really close to the horizontal stabilizer. But the palne empyed almost as fast as tailgate. Even with the rear door on the space of the front door was very tall. A center floater holding the top of the door would be a foot or 2 inside the plane unless he was very, very tall. Some Thoughts on Hijackers We say “hijackers” brought down the World Trade Center Towers on 9/11. The 20 Muslims on those 4 airplanes weren’t the real hijackers. The real Muslim hijacking started in the ‘20s when (some one whose name I can’t remember from a History Channel program) started writing about the militant or negative aspects of Islam. This theme was taken up again in the ‘50s by (some one else whose name I can’t remember from the same History Chanel program) and got a much better foothold no doubt because of the creation of the state of Israel. These hijackers ignored all the good and compassionate parts of Islam and consecrated on the most harsh aspects. They called this the “fundamental” tenants of Islam. But the Muslims don’t have a monopoly on this type of hijacking. The teachings of Jesus emphasize love and compassion and forgiveness. There have always been the “hellfire and damnation” preachers but at some point in the ‘70s (after our sexual and cultural revolution of the ‘60s) they began to call themselves “fundamentalist” Christians. To them, the outward appearance and behavior was more important than the inward attitude and feeling of Jesus’ teachings. They also started being political. They preached for elected officials to be “God fearing Christians.” They started reinterpreting our Constitution’s 1st Amendment to mean that the government should not put one Christian denomination over another. The thing that makes democracy work is the willingness of the minority to be governed, ruled, whatever word it is, by the majority. Without this willingness, insurrection begins. Insurrection is sometimes bloody as in Iraq and Afghanistan. It seems we are seeing a different kind of insurrection lately. Politics has been described as, “the art of the possible.” Compromise has always been what has let the minority subject themselves to the majority. Without compromise, there is no reason for the minority to trust the majority. The majority can act like a bully, at best, or a dictator at worst. Now we are seeing a group, actually a minority but a subset of a larger political party, throw away what has made our representative democracy work for the 222 years that we have had a Constitution. This atmosphere of “us vs. them,” “if you’re not with us, you’re against us,” “you are all wrong and we are right about everything,” is a poison to what makes compromise impossible. It may not be long before these hijackers start calling their movement “Fundamentalist Democracy.” Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. It sounds like you're a good example of what AggieDave advocates: "More people would be saved by a higher level of rider training, the new riders but especially the ones who have been riding for a long time. They are some of the worst riders out there, since they have really bad habits and they have also lost some of the respect they need to keep of the road! " Are there any statistics on the kind of bike that are in accidents the most? It seems to me that big bike (like Harleys) are in fewer accidents than the "rice rockets." If so, is it the bike or the personality of the one who buys a particular kind of bike? Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Proper gear is the thing. In the 20 years I lived in DeLnad and saw all the riders during Bike Week and Biketober Fest I don't think I EVER saw any one in shorts and flip-flops. Did they value their feet and legs more than their head? Actually, I'm for the personal choice of whether or not to wear a helmet. Let's get Darwin back in the game. To paraphrase a sig line here, "Stupidity is self correcting." Let's thin the herd. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Wide World of Sports showed a figure "8" car race one time. It was like a high speed demolition derby. That was pretty extreme. Probably be more extreme doing it with motorcycles. 1971 in Jacksonville, Fla.jumping out of Bobby Tyers 172. Herlong Field wouldn't let us land on the airport so we landed in the cow pasture across the street. (Now a trailer park, I think.) I had to babysit my nephews who were 7 and 8 years old. It's a cow pasture so I just let 'em loose and went about my normal jumping. I happened to be up in the plane with 2 student who were doing hop & pops at 4,000 ft. I went down to 2,000. My mom came to pick the kids up (she never liked me jumping and NEVER EVER wanted to watch). Well, Mike Strickland walks up to my mom when she asks, "Where Bob?" He points up at the plane just as we get out. 2 canopies open and I'm in freefall. He starts shouting, "Pull, Bob. Pull." When I got down, my mom and the kids were gone and Mike said my mom didn't see the humor. I thoght it was funny as hell. About 500 ft. twice. The first time was as a student and I was trying to get stable. I finally pulled and when I saddled out the French aircraft altimeter read 100 meters. 5 or 6 hundred jumps later we were going the 12,500 and only got to 10.500 before we had to get out. The star was held below break off altitude waiting on some one to get in. Of course they funneled it and we all wound up "deep in the beeps." Through the late '70s I had a Starlite canopy that opened in maybe 200 ft. I became a fearless (read dumb) man. I would routinely throw my pilot chute at 1100 or 1200 ft. I thought I could handle it if some thing bad happened. I'm really glad I never had to find out. Then a friend gave me an old Strat0 Star and the openings got longer and higher. Sounds like you handled the unplaned situatation well. I always noted the cloud base on the way up just in case we went through one. I also glanced down in the first point but that was mainly the check the spot. I don't think a small cloud would have gotten my attention but occassionaly there was a big one and then I was glad I had checked the cloud base.
