  7. so after four months of being in pain, lower back and radiating leg pain, and weeks of physical therapy, its come time to meet with the spine doc to schedule a microdiscectomy. hopefully this will relieve my pain and let me return to all the physical activities i love, including my newest, skydiving. but my main question is, have any of you gone through this and how favorable were the results. i.e. how long did it take to recover (im 21 and otherwise in great health) and have you had any recurrences. also how did it affect your jumping? this all started from a bmx bike injury which had me hospitalized (four broken ribs, blown up disk, bruised kidneys, liver and sternum and concussion to rival the worst. all my other injuries have healed but the disk problem has stuck with me and continued to get worse. hopefully this will be the end of the road for back pain, atleast for now and i find myself looking forward to the surgery in hopes that it will vanquish my pain. also are there any things i should mention to the dr in order to get the best treatment with relation to returning to activities. thanks guys! wish me luck! 12. so last weekend was my first time in a wind tunnel (paraclete xp) in raeford nc. i cant even begin to describe how much i learned. me and my buddy hired one of the coaches there, his name was zoley, and he was an excellent teacher. i told him that i wanted to focus on my AFF techniques and we worked from there. i was nervous at first because we had driven to nc from ohio and i didnt want to go to the wind tunnel and not learn much, but that nervousness went out the door when i got into the tunnel for my first minute and a half. i was pretty stable, drifting around a bit, but as my time progressed ( i got 15 min) i was doing different drills and picking up on it really quickly. by the end i was following the instructor around the tunnel, doing ups and downs, turns both ways, free falling in the pull position and staying completely stable. i also got to do a lot with forward and backward movement. i feel as if i learned so much and i cant wait for the weather to clear up so i can put the skills i learned to use. if you havent been to a wind tunnel yet you should try it, atleast for beginners because it boosts your confidence a ton. im not longer scared of being unstable when i jump and if i am i know how to correct it. end of my epic "its just a normal day at the dropzone until its not" 1653
  13. i totally agree with what shah said, i dont really have anxiety about the door, or going to the door, or looking down, i just feel the tension in the plane on the way up haha, but low jump # for me too so we will see as i complete my license "its just a normal day at the dropzone until its not" 1653

  17. yeah on their website they say you can drop down one size safely, meaning you would have an m5 for a 190 i believe so it is safe to say you could put a 190 in the m4! :D "its just a normal day at the dropzone until its not" 1653
  18. hey! im actually going through physical therapy to help this right now. i have been doing various leg exercises, "pressups" which is a pushup with your hips remaining on the ground, planks, bridges (lay on your back with your feet on a couch and arch, walking on a treadmill, a lot of ice, a lot of heat and propping (laying on my stomach propping my legs up and torso up so i form a U shape with my body. these are all exercises ive been doing to help my herniated L4/L5 disk which has caused sciatica. i actually talked to my physical therapist today about the inversion tables and she said that they have been known to help a lot of people, but you have to find the right angle, upside down may not be the right angle for you and may end up further hurting your back, so start out at a slight angle and increase to see what helps. also, these tables do increase blood pressure in the head and in general so be careful with that. hope this helps! feel better soon!

  24. so i looked at sky ventures website, if my friend is licensed and i am on student status can we go under the repeat flyer/skydiver option? cause were going there to train for it, the other packages kinda sound like its just for fun. we could get a half hour for 575, that sounds reasonable too.
