have you ever pencil packed your rig? the title - illegal, in this country yes. stupid? hardly. maybe to people who are lacking the knowledge about base. most of the people shouting 'party foul' are people that don't base jump. i guess alot of other countries must be full of stupid people then, because i know that they are allowed to jump their base rigs from aircraft. wonder why it's only stupid here.... and saying something to the FAA....priceless. back to the question about pencil packing.... (for what it's worth to those that read this - if i'm not mistaken, the pilot can get into as much trouble for an out of date or pencil packed reserve as they can for someone jumping a base rig. now start casting the hypocritical stones...)

so yeah, i just thought about some stuff her dad said during the eulogy. there were some things she did pre-texas/pre-skydiving that we may or may not have known about. let's see... mar is an excellent pianist. she is a ballerina. had i known this, we would've had her wearing a tutu every chance we got. and i KNOW she'd have done it, too. she is valedictorian (can't remember which school(s)) she at one time was a NE texas mechanical bull-riding champ. apparently the last guy she beat had told her that he wouldn't be able to face his buds if he had gotten beat by a girl. that guy had no clue who he was dealing with... there were several other things that frank said, but you get the picture. each of these had a very cool story to go along with it. okay, that's it for now. i think alot of people found comfort being around friends and sharing stories - at least i know i did. it was incredible meeting people in other aspects of her life and talking to them for hours. because of mar my circle of friends has expanded a little bit more after last week.

i'm so very sorry to hear of this tragic accident. today is the anniversary we lost 4 of our deland friends to a plane crash, so my heart is really touched by this. you guys are gonna need each other to help you through these horrible times. godspeed to those who have passed and love and light to the families and friends. this is so incredibly sad. wow.

(sigh) i log on to check on the new posts about mariann to take to the service today and i see this. wtf. mark was a customer of mine at the gearstore a few years back after he started jumping. super, super nice guy...always well mannered with a keen sense of humor. what a sweet talking in an ever-so-innocent sorta way. :) my condolences to his family and friends at baldwin. damn what a week.

i met mariann at the chicks rock boogie party 2002. her reputation preceeded her. a mutual friend of ours, craig, had told me that i should meet mariann. he said we were two peas in a pod and would get along perfectly. so yeah, the party on saturday night at chicks rock - fiala was spinning. everything was shiny. so i look around and i saw this chick...in the middle of the dance area. she was covered in glitter, sunglasses, club clothes, dancing like a mad woman. but the kicker was she was holding up a camera and she was videoing herself dancing and narrating. i just busted out laughing because i knew it immediately. "you're mariann kramer, aren't you? i'm arlo. i'm supposed to meet you."
