  1. You know that Jari will be there then entire time organizing flock dives, so you guys rip it up! Kim will also be there selling suits and instructing to those that get the urge. :) bock bock, arlo
  2. Check the reserve left-hand front riser. arlo
  3. Mario- I believe the draw was B-F-L-A-N...not sure, but I think that's right. As far as Russia goes, Majik is indeed going, but I don't think the French are because of conflict between that meet and their Nationals. Still will be a great meet. :) blues, arlo
  4. Style is looking good and accuracy is getting on the correct aircraft, right? So your instructor likes Maubeuge because they have more 'style.' I personally like Airspeed and Majik better because they have prettier colored canopies....which obviously make them better canopy pilots. Dude, Maubeuge rocks and that 42 is outstanding! Congrats to the Frenchies on that accomplishment. But keep in mind too, that a fast round is dependent upon a fast draw. The REAL comparision would be to have Majik, Vertical, Maubeuge, GK Gold, XL, and the Norgies do the same round. :) That would be the jump of the century. :) Watch out at Nationals. :) arlo ============ The night before I saw that I was talking to my instructor about the 4-way teams and he was telling me that he liked the french better than the US team cause they have more style than the airspeed team (i think thats what he told me). ============
  5. check out the USPA website for the latest from the July meeting. *2003 Nationals (both "regular" and collegiate) will be at Lake Wales. *Changes have been made to the Skydivers Competition manual, but the USPA doesn't say what those "minor" changes are. I know there was discussion about reducing the minimum meet requirement to 1 round from 6, but I checked the revised manual (which is effective Aug 2002) and it still states 6 rounds....whew. * $5 membership fee Those were the biggies that I noticed. If you compete, it would behoove you to take a look at the new manual and make sure your ass is covered at Nats this year. Remember, this manual is effective Aug 2002.... other than that, have a safe one, arlo

  7. Cancer Survivors From Around the World Set Skydiving Record and Prove There Is Life After Cancer FENTRESS, Texas, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty-eight cancer survivors showed the world there is life after cancer when they set a skydiving record in Texas today. The survivors, who came from nine U.S. states and four countries -- including the USA, Canada, Spain, and the United Kingdom -- jumped to raise awareness about cancer survival and to provide hope for people battling the disease. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020719/FLF012 ) Diving from two different planes at 15,000 feet, the group had 70 seconds to create a choreographed formation, connecting all of the jumpers in the air. The group practiced the record-setting jump on July 16 and 17, and then made six attempts on July 18 to complete the formation. The event took place at San Marcus Sky Dive in Texas. "We are donating our time to send a powerful message to the world, and especially to people fighting cancer. People with cancer can and do get past this dreaded disease and go on with their lives," said Tony Albano, the event's coordinator. Albano, who was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma in 1979, summarized the team's goals: "If I had seen twenty-four cancer survivors in free-fall when I was undergoing chemotherapy, it would have lightened my load and given me hope. We want everyone battling this disease to know that there is life after cancer." Each of the jumpers wore an armband with the names of friends or relatives that have survived or lost their battles with the disease. In all, 64 names accompanied jumpers. The group has enlisted the support of such corporate sponsors as AstraZeneca, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies involved in cancer research. Skydive San Marcos is located in Fentress, TX on hwy 80, 12.8 miles Southeast of San Marcos. Located at Fentress Airpark, a private airport on 115 acres, the facilities are arranged to allow skydivers to be in view during aircraft departure and parachute landing. The event will be videographed from the air and the ground and the jumpers will be available for interviews. 8. www.skydivecity.com go to "what's new" and look under JFTC stuff. There are 2 slightly representative pics of the men's bikini jump. Remember...these are just 2 pics from 4 developed rolls of film and 2 videos....God help us all. arlo
  9. Okay, I think that I'm going to send a couple of the pix to TK and if he chooses to put them on the Skydive City website, then so be it. :) I'll let you guys know if I send them.... arlo p.s. shield your eyes and hide the young impressionable children....you've been warned.
  10. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun was had. After this weekend, I'm gonna try to get the people involved with JFTC fund-raising to video all their fund-raising events and make a compilation debauchery video. If should highlight the participants and give folks the credit they deserve for being part of such a good cause. :) I'm gonna try to do a nice write-up for both Skydiving and Parachutist w/pics, of course. Let's see how it goes. If you saw the pics I have, you'd run for your life and hide the children for sure. :) arlo
  11. The July 4th weekend/boogie at Zhills was an incredible success!!! Over $3000 was raised to support breast cancer research!!!!! Check out WWW.SKYDIVECITY.COM for the pics of TK in a thong....and yes, those are real flames from the actual car that was smashed. Thanks to Marcus Price and the GearStore, PD, Skyventure (indoor windtunnel), Birdman, Alti-2, Relative Workshop, Debbie (necklaces), and Sunpath for their donations to the raffle. Thanks to Steve Mott for donating the car that was used to raise almost $600...a buck at a time (sledge hammer hits: $1, AvGas: $2/gal, picture of TK in a thong atop the car swinging a sledgehammer: priceless). Yes, there are pictures....and yes, there is video. Thanks to all the wonderful guys at zhills for participating in the bikini jump. That raised over $600 with the winning vote being "YES". These guys included Muff Brothers, CRW dogs, VRW, RW, and wingsuit flyers. I haven't laughed that hard in years. The guys thought outside the box by incorporating lingerie into their bikini plan. I have 4 rolls of pics and a video (some from a Tampa news station) as proof. My corneas have been scarred. "The normally shy and reserved Muff Brothers supported JFTC by wearing their lingerie in a dignified manner." -- Bill Bickner Seriously, these guys sucked it up, did their thing and were absolutely awesome. They almost completed the 10 way round. Not sure if you guys see the sheer awesomeness in this, but there were people on this dive that don't freefall (CRW)...like John Sekorski (sp?)..and flew his slot well! CRW dogs rock! All these guys were fucking awesome!!! Only thing that scared me was that they looked awefully comfortable wearing thongs and bustiers and sequined bras and garters. Some even wore their stuff home. Hmmmmmmm. For those that were there, thank you so much. I think it was a wonderful thing for everyone there to see that it only takes a small contribution from each person to create something so incredibly huge and life-changing. We CAN and DO make a difference. Kudos to everyone for their participation and sleep well knowing that you helped out people in the process. This is the money that funds research that may find the cure tomorrow. It may save me or you or your mother or your sister or daughter if breast cancer enters our lives. This weekend, I heard so many touching stories of, not only breast cancer, but other cancer survivors, deaths, treatments...you name it. The spectrum was covered. It just validated what I already know...people give a shit and really want to do what they can to help. Man, you guys rock!!!! If anyone is interested in doing a fund-raiser at your local dz (for whatever organization you choose), we have some good ideas that we can pass along that will not only raise money, but will give you an incredibly fun time in the process. :) thank you so much on behalf of the City of Hope, JFTC, and Skydive City.... arlo
  12. Rumor has it that, for a donation for Jump for the Cause, you can take a sledgehammer swing at one or all of the following: *Theo's trailer *Mott's car (volvo, I believe) *whatever else can be found This is still rumor, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen. I've also heard that some of the aforementioned items may find their way to the bonfire....there really is no telling. Fireworks will be going like crazy and I'm sure we'll blow up some perfectly good shit....surprise. ;) In addition, we're still having the raffle for the following: * 50% off Birdman wingsuit * 35% off PD canopy * (5) 10 minute blocks of tunnel time ($125 value each, or apply $100 towards any block of time) * t-shirtsfrom Relative Workshop, Alti-2 and more Thanks to all the people that donated stuff for the fund-raiser. Oh yeah, bikini jump donation pots (yes and no pots) to either see those guys (TK, muff bros, etc) do a bikini jump or pay for them to keep their clothes on...for the love of God! just say NO!! ;) Bring $100 in donations and get a free jump ticket...check out www.skydivecity.com for details. Sorry if I left anything out, but that's all I can remember right now. Come on out and support the cause and tear up some perfectly good shit in the process.... :) arlo
  13. Birdman will have demo suits and flight instruction available (7/4) at the Skydive City 4th of July boogie in Zephyrhills. Come out and demo one of the wingsuits and buy a raffle ticket to win a wingsuit at 50% off!! Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Jump for the Cause (breast cancer research). Come join the flock! blues, arlo
  14. Man, this is crazy! These are the big ticket items that were donated so far for the 4th of July boogie weekend at Skydive City to raise money for JFTC/ breast cancer research. Most of the stuff will be raffled off, so if you can make it out, please do. :) Alti-2 has also donated some stuff as well, so thanks to everyone that has donated, helped out, is helping out, or just hasn't bitched about my frequent postings. :) This is gonna be a great time for sure. :) I think the Muff Brothers will be out in full force as well...hide your kids. ;) There will also be a men's bikini jump donation thingy (Thanks to Bo from Team Funnel for the idea..it's AWESOME). There will be two pots for donations: the "YES, I want these guys to jump in their bikinis" pot, and the "Not no but HELL NO!! For the love of God keep your clothes ON" pot. Do you REALLY want to see some of those guys in bikinis? Your votes (in the form of donations) will decide. :) Dinner by Janine and other various fun stuff for the weekend. Questions, comments, etc, shoot me an email or contact the dz for further info. thanks, big blues, and hope to see you all over 4th of July weekend!! arlo
