  1. It was once recommended to me that simply adding a little more insurance to the gear bag has a tendency for them to be more careful with it. It gets tagged special, and that seems to separate it from the rest visually to the handlers so more attention gets paid to it. I guess they figure that since you took the time to insure it, you are REALLY gonna take the time to yell and scream if it doesnt show up. (plus them losing more $$)
  2. might have lost the internet bill too... might wanna call them in case they didnt get the email. :)
  3. They admitted to getting it, not your problem THEY lost it. The mail didnt lose it, you didnt lose it, etc. Not your problem, its thiers. If they dont send it post the name... THAT should get thier attention.
  4. Why else would you ask about cameras in a skydiving forum? We just have to assume that is what you are planning. You arent the first person we have seen with low time asking about cameras (they had intent to jump them). Dont take it personally, we just care about you. When we encourage you to do dangerous things, then beware :) .
  5. I just got my first order from them yesterday. I must say they are the BEST company I have EVER dealt with (on the web or otherwise). Good pricing, GREAT cust svc, and very prompt shipping. They still couldnt beat my price on cheap video tapes at wal mart, but they did have great pricing on DV tapes as well as a few things I couldnt find otherwise. BRAVO!!!! Gilligan
  6. I second Lew's comment..... If the camera doesnt hurt you, we will ;)
  7. Gotta go to the wedding... you can skydive anytime, but those things just dont happen that often.
  8. "Not Mullins King Air since you would need the space shuttle to beat him almost." Actually I was in an otter that appeared to be climbing just as fast last weekend... of course there were only 12 of us that load (including the pilot) so that may have had just a little to do with that :) (Didnt say it was an economical flight, did I?)
  9. dont get so snooty.... I could get it to format right, but couldnt enter them just in two digit seconds... always had to key in the full number, with all the zeros and colons.
  10. When I was a sophomore in high school, there was a senior -- the daughter of a teacher -- who was rumored to have visted the emergency room with a severe case of Snickers-bar-up-her-cootchie. --- probably just an urban legend. we had the same thing... only it was a hotdog (another was a doorknob, while still on the door, but not stuck) you could read yohoo in the x-ray perfectly--- sounds fishy to me. How can the xray be that sensitive to see the different ink thicknesses?
  11. I heard he was just gonna say screw it and wear roller blades.... he cant run any faster :) It would be morbidly interesting to see him land a VX39.
  12. no, already tried that... it isnt called memory loss, or anything along those lines.... cdnow nor any napster-esqe search engines have anything like it. Remember, the end result is for me to be able to buy it. the words in the chorus are... "do you suffer from long term memory loss? I dont remember"
  13. when you leave an unopened bag of gummy bears in a hot car all day, they become a gummy blob. Its VERY difficult to eat it as it is, and almost impossible to cut it into useable cubes. I keep my knives razor sharp, but it still wouldnt cut thru very well.
  14. Dont ya hate when ya hear a great song, but cant figure out the name? anyone know the name of this one? I did manage to record a small snippet with my camera. Hope someone here recognizes it. http://jump.havencomm.com/temp/memoryloss.wav
  15. I started to use that, but already have it all logged on paper. I didnt wanna retype EVERYTHING, as all I needed was about 150 dives' time totaled
  16. god luck getting it to do the calcs easy without adding the colons and such. Just try keying the following sequence and see what happens in excel... " 70+ 73+65+54+45...etc" doesnt quite work as well....
  17. Depends on who you ask... I'm like a toasted mini wheat... my frosted side says hell no, especially if she's cute, but the whole wheat side says yes, because its VERY unprofessional. (the whole wheat side gets locked in a trunk after about 6 beers). Gilligan
  18. He's not a skydiver, he's a tandem PASSENGER. when he can jump and pull his own ripcord(on his own), THEN he's a skydiver. Until then its all just a stupid PR stunt. I rode in a 747, does that make me a "heavy" pilot? didnt think so. :)
  19. I feel your pain. I was at the richmond boogie this past weekend, and twice in 3 days I woke up with my heart racing from a mini nightmare. all I remember is being in freefall at pull time, throw out, and nothing happens....... NOTHING. just as I realize its a total, I wake up. dont even have time to react to the mal. I am sweating and my heart is racing. the first wasnt that bad... it was a cat nap on the couch in the hangar. the second sucked. it was at 2am, and I couldnt get back to sleep. I heard every hour chirp by on my watch that nite. I did end up catching a few ZZs around 6am, but that was maybe an hour.
  20. Ever sit there needing to total up your freefall time, and just pull your hair out trying to do it in your head? I did till I found a GREAT tool. Its designed to calculate time sheets, but when you set it for hh:mm:ss (it defaults to only hh:mm) you can key in those repetetive 73 second skydives and it tallies them in a heartbeat. I was able to update about 100 jumps worth of FF total time in about 10 mins. Would have taken me ALOT longer if I tried to do it in my head. Hey, i'm a skydiver, not an accountant. Yeah, I know the pro trac and electronic logs do it all for you automagically, but not all of us have gotten away from paper logs. This is a great tool that I recommend... Hell, I even registered my copy. its only 3/4 of a jump :). ($15) http://home.nycap.rr.com/aotw/timecalc.htm

    Fandango!

Not everyone owns their own pool for LWT. most places have to rent them and charge the students to cover the cost. Now if they OWN the pool, I agree with you.
  22. I heard the jump prices are $17, but I dont know 100% for sure. I am 95% right.... at least thats what the voices in my head tell me. :)
  23. plan on an hour +15 door to door to richmond (from the west side of Indy)
