  1. We have a lot of respect for the broncos--manning personally checked on sherman after the game to see about his injury. He's a legendary quarterback and this game aside he will be rightfully looked at as one of the best in the game--it was just our time. Go hawks!
  2. Hey i like that idea. Would need to be fairly rigid, though. I went with plastic bins for organizing the loose stuff because soft-side containers would end up with altimeter buttons being pushed draining batteries. I also have kroop-style goggles that get bent out of shape if they aren't in some kind of rigid container. however sewing panels on the inside that can hold the boxes or have stiffeners is def an option i will look into. The ogio/osprey bags are an option too though more spendy. edited to add: THANKS for the feedback everyone I appreciate it
  3. I'm curious what kind of "system" other jumpers use to organize their gear bag that they take with them to the DZ. I'm currently using a large bag I got at a military surplus store: [inline 41rKVYPS9CL.jpg] Inside I use stuff sacks for my RW, FF, and WS. I also have a few plastic containers about the size of a shoe box that I keep things like extra batteries, altimeter, screwdrivers/tools, etc. In theory this works well but in practice the inside of the gear bag is a big mess. Even though things are compartmentalized in side of some kind of container, every time I need something I end up having to take half of the shit out of the bag. As things shift around, the lids of the smaller containers can pop off and the contents end up in the bottom of the bag. In short, things move around and the inside of the bag is not orderly enough. I've thought about using something like a rigid bin/box with wheels but I don't need to have a rolling rigging loft I just want to keep my shit organized. Anyone have a good system that might be a better solution?
  4. The first 9 weeks of the season, sure, they only allowed on average 12.3 points per game. But going 2-5 over the last seven games allowing on average 22 points per game looks like a collapse to me.
  5. Denver hasn't faced a real defense all season--if you think our defense is the same as the Patriots you're smoking crack Manning is going to need time to find open receivers because our secondary isn't "just good". Their stats this season are '85 bears legendary. Your offensive line has only had to give Manning less than 3 seconds of protection as that is how long he holds onto the ball. Any offensive line would look good because nobody can get to the quarterback that fast. But with a physical seahawk defensive backfield, manning is going to have hold the ball longer giving our pass rush more time. It's going to knock manning off his rhythm, which is not good for him. I know it's hard for a broncos fan to believe a world exists where the quarterback doesn't make 5,000 pass attempts a game, but seattle is a run-first offense. lynch is going to get his carries, and wilson is going to make his passes when he needs to. percy harvin is going to open up the field and you're going to see baldwin, kearse, and tate getting better looks. the denver defense hasn't had to play at an elite level this season because they're usually just protecting a lead. i expect them to have to step up in a way they haven't had to all year, and I don't think they're up to the challenge. seahawks over broncos 28-24. edited to add: if we're talking who will win the 420 bowl, I would say we already have: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2022764427_potbeastxml.html

  9. This. A few years ago someone posted a craiglist ad on FB saying it looked suspicious. I recognized the gear and asked the jumper if it had been stolen--she told me it had. someone had broken into her car a few weeks prior and stole her gear bag. The police contacted the seller and arranged to "buy" the gear and ended up recovering the stolen items and returning. If someone had tipped off the seller that people thought their listing was hot they might have just dumped it and walked away

  13. Generally speaking, people wear full face helmets for RW to give them protection from getting kicked in the face not protection from the wind If you jump a closed face helmet you might get over the claustrophobia (at least I did after a couple of weekends of jumping). Don't believe the hype on the G2/3. Since they hit the market they HAVE had issues that prove they are mere mortals, not this mythical super helmet some trollishly claim. For one, they have had fogging problems (mostly solved with inserts for the g2 and a different design for the g3). They have had visor issues with a laminate/sealing film cracking/coming off. Cookie sends out new lenses in that case and changed their manufacturing process to prevent it in the future, so kudos to them for having good customer service. But just because it looks like a space helmet doesn't mean it's not of this world. It's just trendy and if you want to be cool you need to conform or else someone might make a superficial judgement about you based on the crap you wear and you might not get invited on the cool jumps it's not a bad helmet, but I don't have one... that's because i have a contrarian streak that rejects conformity no matter how trivial ...which is why I would wear my bootie suit on a beach jump

  15. The canopy is a dumb place for a spider. Inside the audible pocket in your helmet. That's the money spot.
  16. This. In addition to having longer windows for currency, you also can travel around more freely without having to worry about being unnecessarily restricted. If all you have is an A you might find yourself having to land at a secondary "student" landing area or not being able to participate in specialty jump that requires more than an A license (balloon jumps, beach jumps, etc.) Any one of those is a good enough reason in my book but when you put them all together pushing some paper through the machine to get a license beyond A seems worth it. YMMV of course.
  17. I have over 300 jumps on my Sabre2 170 and end cell closure is very normal on my wing. Nothing to worry about, just a gentle tug on rear risers and they open up right away. One thing to keep in mind is how long the brake lines are. If the brakes on the other canopies you jumped were on the longer side (which would be normal for student canopies) and the brake line on the SA2 you jumped were "about right" or a little short, then it would exaggerate the effect of the "better wing" Ron mentioned. i.e. shorter brake lines + a more efficient wing + early/long/stabby flare could result in popping up a bit on landing. So if you jumped a SA2 with better sized brake lines, you might not find the flare to be way out of your comfort zone. however, if you are flying a canopy with a weak flare and the brake lines are a little long, a flare that feels right to you will not translate to other canopies (in other words, it might not be just the SA2). There is nothing wrong with not liking the sabre2. Plenty of people would agree that it isn't a bad canopy, just not the one that they want to fly.
