  1. Some people lie so much that I honestly don't think that they "know" reality. Most of my direct family sister & parents are liars to the point that they lie even when it is pointless - for example pretending that her kid sleeps through the night - why lie? I guess I grew up in that environment and then got married to someone who was HIGHLY suspicious and after a while of getting caught out it was better to change than divorce. Now it really pisses me off when people lie. I've got a client who so regularly lies that he can't even hide it from his clients Try pretending to own a business jet - how long did he expect to maintain that one? 2. Found the above from a google search - BBC is quoting this poll today 18/9 in an article about Bush "admitting there was no link". This morning Hans Blix came out quite strongly about the "spin" of the intellegence and seems very happy to jibe at the US/UK begging for more time, after what they put his guys through. Also on BBC at the moment (due to Hutton enquiry) is the very open admission/discussion about how much the media lies/spins/colours with their opinion actual news. 3. I can't find an original quote from Tony Blair on his first statement although I do remember sound bites from the time but contrast his 2 statements and then to the hutton enquiry he told them that he was responsible - I have extracted 1 of his exact statements Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  4. Bill I've got a question. I was against the war in Iraq just for background as it was fairly obvious bullshit about them being a CURRENT THREAT to us in the west. I also don't buy the argument that its right to enforce the UN's will by ignoring the UN The question is that Iraq was actively engaged in DEVELOPING WMD which could/would have posed a long term threat to his neighbours and possibly us. What do you think that we should have done? Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  5. after much confusion it turns out that the 45 minutes claim COULD have meant mortars and small arms, this according to the head of the JIC, during the hutton enquiry. on that note - if you want an interesting read the Dossier is published on the hutton website, the government here never lied in paper, the dossier is actually fairly benign, they just used lots of inuendo to let ppl fool themselves (and encouraged the media to do so as well). 6. You asked for reason why - because as nice as my homeland was it is now royally f*cked up. Today Zimbabwe put the price of fuel up by 500% - and no that is not a typo! 6 yrs of a shrinking economy and chaos! For all ppl's bitching about it I actually don't mind the UK though. 8. Southern Africa - because it is the best Weather, lifestyle and REAL wildlife (not like here in poncy UK where we were told Wales had WILD sheep!) otherwise Zurich - why cause like I like the ppl, food and its generally a cool place. 10. there is an interesting concept called assymetric warfare, which analyses the methods used when 2 sides are vastly different in capability and or culture. There is some public domain stuff on the US DoD sites which is a few years old that clearly expresses terrorism as a VIABLE way of dealing with the US's high tech war machine. Assymetric warfare also covers the fact that different cultures (i.e. Islam) are not so worried about death as we in the west are - hence deterents have less effect. It is fairly humorous once you've read this stuff to then see as an example the UK government trying to implement an offense of "Royal Tresspass" after a guy dressed up as Osamma got into Williams party - yeah right a suicide bomber is really worried about his 18th jail term for tresspassing. 11. I am not sure how true it is, but apparantly there was an outcry about Korea eating dogs during the world cup, and people wanted them to stop for the duration. Well as the story goes ppl there got pissed off and a bumper sticker was produced... " A dog is not just for Christmas with a good deep freeze it will last till the world cup
  12. I was under the impression that "most" beers especially lagers were chemical replicas - is that not true (fosters, heinekin, steller etc?). I know that Budweisser and alot of German beers are "pure" i.e they are 100% natural ingredients with no preservatives. 13. it was described as a "turkey shoot" by a politician here, because according to him a war is between 2 armed countries Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  14. Perhaps the french might just be cursing the ppl who ignored their veto? Just a thought no war and this event wouldn't have happened. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  16. To be clear - the brits made mistakes in NI, and I have been trying to portray more than anything a difference of approach and greater level of experience that they have than the US. To be clear I am NOT british so its not a personal interest issue. Bill kind of summed up in 1 paragraph what I've been trying to say. 17. I agree, but where does it stop. A pineapple in a kids hand looks like a grenade so blow him away to? The Iraqi resistance isn't wearing uniform so shoot all men between 15 and 65? I will grant you this it must be bloody difficult. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  18. I think that journalists are idiots for dressing up in camo and running around amongst bullets for "news" back home. However if the general attitude genuinely is that a US soldiers life is worth more than a civilian then I think the US is in Iraq for a long time, as the I can quite see the Iraqi's getting severely pissed off and there being more and not less attacks. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  19. Ok firstly no you don't offend me. 2nd I wasn't very clear. The in war you try and avoid civilian casualties, and I understand that it is SUPPOSSED to be that a civilians life is MORE important than a soldiers. So to G Sanchez is an Iraq soldiers life more important than one of his guys no - in fact 10000 iraqi soldiers are worth one of his. However the life of a civilian should be bloody near equal that of a US soldier in the war zone. The US portrays an image that this is not the case in alot of circumstances, it may not be true but it appears that its shoot first think later. 20. Technically "returning fire" is just that. It means that somebody initiated an attack and you retaliate. I don't expect that you sit and wait until you have been shot at before you take action - but I would not classify that as returning fire. probably, but it does not stop me analysing what the guys are doing against other soldiers (BTW I am not a Brit, although I do use them for most comparisons). Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  21. I really disagree, on this. First he wasn't "returning fire" (Ok I know what you mean't though). Strategy takes reading in the surroundings and not viewing events through a narrow periscope view. Like it is said about skydiving accidents - it is the CHAIN of events that leads to the incident. So a well trained soldier SHOULD have the ability to recognise the events leading to a fire fight. Ok so I was not there and maybe all the indicators of a fire fight were there, I doubt it though. 22. Sorry I just can't buy the argument of thinking of the guy who shot him. Tough shit and he should be hauled infront of a military tribunal. Ok so you can confuse a camera for a missile launcher, BUT I do believe that decent training and forsight would highlight alot of differences between the circumstantial evidence at the time. A soldier (sorry can't call him a terrorist while we are technically still at war), would probably have a very different strategy and or position to a journalist, something that a trained soldier should be able to read and think twice about. It's like good analysists or engineers its often the subtle details that make something definitive to the trained eye. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  23. I think you have to put it in perspective. The US is being heavily critised for being far to trigger happy. The BBC reported a few weeks back that they General Sanchez had issued a command to take a "softly softly" aproach. Well reading between the lines that reads that a US soldier's life is worth more than an Iraqi citizen prior to that mandate and shoot first and think second. The Brits appear to be handling the situation much better, maybe Northern Ireland experience is helping them? The whole thing is a mess and its going to get worse and drag on. I guess fate has a way on turning on people that use lies and distortions to create wars (follow the Hutton Inquiry for details) Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Ok long break my time zone is out of sync with you guys. In essence it was the principle of commune type environment. More or less long term commitments, not "swinging" where the sole purpose appears to be sex (I am an outsider on this so that might be false).
