    Polygammy

Divorce is a complex issue and not something that I have ever thought about - especially not in this context. I realise that it works in Islamic countries where the woman have no rights, but obviously that doesn't apply in the west. I think that the western world focuses on it purely as a sexual relationship and kind of pictures permanent orgies. I think that the reality of it is more likely a combi of relationships, and supporting each other. Speculation would domestic violence go up or down - I believe down. Would violent child abuse decrease, possibly if vulnerable stressed mothers had people to support them. I am not suggesting violence reduction as a motive for polygammy. Thats actually where I stand on the issue (just about cope with 1). But still believe that there is nothing WRONG with more than 1 and technically against the RIGHTS of adults to prohibit it if they do want to. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

I mean married - or long term/permanent relationship. Not swinging. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

OK - no it would not be - essentially the modern world accepts "serial polygammy" i.e people have relationships and then move on. Polygammy actually advocates long term relationships - which is deemed to be good. Lastly sex drive - don't really know just repeating common statements gripes by most married men! I would really like to find out how it works in practice in Africa/Asia as I really piss my family (and wife) off with my views - not that I believe its worth the extra in-laws mind you Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Well in principle I personally do not have objections. The physiology might get interesting considering in general men are "suppossed" to have a higher sex drive than women. So it kind of works better in the usual context - everones happy! The women get a break and the guy has fun. In answer to other posts - its not really the same subject having 28 kids as polygammy and 7 wives not working. Howabout people like my wife who get stuck at home looking after kids and want to work - why couldn't she work and the "other" wife look after the kids? If you got the balance right society would have more capacity not less Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  6. I realise it wasn't of the channel crossing and I was commenting on the fact that the "freefall" kind of goes on until the ground!! I know the video cuts to an opening - but hey I've got editing software too Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Ok - so I have some contraversial beliefs on this subject (to my wife anyway). But was wondering on general feeling and opinion. So my viewpoint - I do not believe that the christian religion as based on the bible outlaws it - infact most famous characters had at least 1 wife - upto about 700 for Solomon. The modern church uses out of context quotes about a priest should have only 1 etc. I reckon athiests should have no problem with the concept as I really can't see a moral "no" to this and as to other religions I do not know. So the practical side - I realise that in the west most men see it as a permanent orgy, but I think there are more practical reasons. Will expand when I've done some work Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  8. Its Win 2k and its not under the add/remove programs. I managed to use a registry cleaner to clean it out about 2 minutes ago There were actuall DLL's put under windows directory by the shit. Now that's why I use Linux at home Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  10. Ok I have a problem - last night I worked late and got a little bored needed a break. So I jumped to a link from a spam mail. Now my IE has a stupid toolbar "Adult links" so I can turn it off but not get rid of it. Does anyone know how to. I am not talking about the normal "links" toolbar - which was also populated with crap. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  11. This all got me thinking - just went to the website of his and downloaded the video of the "delta wing" test flights. I am no longer a current skydiver but it sure as heck doesn't look to be a realist altitude when the video of the smoke trail terminates? It seems to me that the smoke trail - goes in - and the video jumps to an open canopy - no deployment at that I could see at all? 12. The BBC news coverage was interesting. For a start some comments "He skydived across the channel AT 30k" - i.e implying horizontal flight. "He jumped from 30k however his feats are normally performed from GREATER heights" - and then mentions 100ft base jump as the GREATER heights - That said I believe it did skydiving a great service it was fully on BBC radio news main bulletin points for more than 24 hrs - no promotion of death and danger - just the feat itself. Its not often skydiving gets such publicity in a positive light for the fun it is not just implying suicidal drug addicts. 13. I saw one (hooked in about 25 ft from me) I didn't know the person - but I gave up the sport - don't have the balls anymore after that - but miss the sport thats why I'm still lurking here - whoknows maybe when my kids are older I'll start up again. 14. The major issue that the UK has with phones on an aircraft is that the power control on your phone cranks up the power to max as signal is lost - on GSM this can be upto 8watts on an 800Mhz phone. Added to the number of phones impacts the collective interference in a plane. It amuses me when I fly that people don't "use" their phones but they do leave them on! If it is not off you may as well use it. And if you're interested just watch for a 1/5th of a second flicker on the onboard screens next time you fly in Europe - when a person hasn't switched off their phone you can usually see the interference on the nearest monitor. (no comment on USA - but I'm an RF engineer in the UK so I know this market - although the physics is the same all over the world). 15. The Inland Revenue send their auditor to a synagogue. The auditor is doing all the checks and then turns to the Rabbi, and says, "I noticed that you buy a lot of candles." "Yes," answered the Rabbi. Well, Rabbi, " what do you do with the candle drippings?" he asked. "A good question," noted the Rabbi. "We actually save them up and when we have enough, we send them back to the candle maker and every now and then, they send us a free box of candles." "Oh," replied the auditor somewhat disappointed that his unusual question actually had a practical answer. So he thought he'd go on, in his obnoxious way. "Rabbi, what about all these matzo purchases? What do you do with crumbs from the matzo?" "Ah, yes," replied the Rabbi calmly, "we actually collect up all the crumbs from the matzo and when we have enough, we send them in a box back to the manufacturer and every now and then, they send a box of matzo balls." "Oh," replied the auditor, thinking hard how to fluster the Rabbi. "Well, Rabbi," he went on, "what do you do with all the foreskins from the circumcisions?" "Yes, here too, we do not waste," answered the rabbi. "What we do is save up all the foreskins, and when we have enough we actually send them to The Inland Revenue. "Inland Revenue .?," questioned the auditor in disbelief. "Ah, yes," replied the Rabbi, "Inland Revenue ..... and about once a year, they send us a little prick like you" Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  16. thanks PhillyKev, also it adds credibility is the US submits itself to international law rather than saying they are always going to be "good boys" and don't need it. I think G Bush has shown the US is quite cabable of commiting war crimes (Iraq was is thought to be illegal by many lawyers, and I see Blair said yesterday they might never find any weapons). That could get really interesting they could have a joint trial (Blair and Saddam! Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  17. well definetaly not aimed personally at any american individuals ut I think Mikkey has a valid point. Especially that large percentage of the world feels threatened by America and not protected by it. One just has to look at the string of international laws that the US is breaking (Malawi suspects, G Bay, even the Iraq issue looks seriously unlawfull as time goes on). Added to this the US refuses to sign up to the international war crimes court. I get the real feeling that US and to lesser extent the UK are in the process of actively creating a 2nd cold war error (specifically with the Islamic world). I get fed up of daily broadcasts of "most dangerous times in history" yada yada. Especially UK who have knee jerked reaction to 9/11 after sitting and living with the IRA on their door step for god knows how long? Well end of rant Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  19. Squirting them with a high power water gun/pistol every time you see them works pretty well. Especially when the water is "primed" with tabasco/chilli as it burns the f**k out of their mouths when they try and lick themselves. It stopped our neighbours cats after about a week. 20. As crazy at it may sound - I was scared to death of freefall from a "low-ish" altitude and a friend who dispatched me agreed to let me do hop and pop progressions from 6000 - 8000 feet (basically when the skygods jumped - we had an old Trojan so that was the max altitude. I felt much happier and actually did better. BTW I was on a T-Ten C9 at the time and it was ok for me - I never landed too far away. 21. As an engineer my main concern is that the "experts" from the UK/USA use the ingredients available in Iraq to "construct" a WMD. I do not mean this in a negative way - the engineers/scientists may be well intentioned. The problem comes when we move onto this "disbanded" notion. Does having sugar and diesel in your house mean that you were preparing to make a bomb. We all have the ingredients of a terrorist bomb at home we just don't have the knowledge. With the US/UK experts applying the knowledge and now looking for the "ingredients" of course evidence will be found - just how realistic it was that the Iraqies had the knowledge is questionable. I have an Iraqi friend who left Iraq in 1974 and his comment was that "Saddam did not have weapons YET - but that Saddam would LIKE that weapons and WOULD use them and therefore it was worth getting rid of Saddam". That may be closer to the truth but makes liars out of Bush & Blair. Last comment if you followed yesterdays questioning of Straw the UK foreign secretary he washed his hands of a significant raft of "intelligence" the dodgy dossier which was used to swing the parliamentary vote in favour of war - today the person who commissoned the report A Campbell is being questioned - Director of Communications for Blair. Campbell is an ex-political editor for a tabloid newspaper - what do you expect from such a person - spin, presentation and little substance? 23. The one in Zurich is excellent and if you use cheap flights (Air Berlin?) then it is well worth while - there are no tunnels in the UK - so my wife and I go quite regularly to Zurich. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
