Anyone have expierience with these?
diablopilot replied to chriscchristoph's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'd really like to see people paying attention to the skydive instead of technology. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Most useless "advancement" I've seen yet. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
How aggressively did you down size?
diablopilot replied to Nerra's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
That's not conservative. You might be capable, but that progression is not conservative. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up
diablopilot replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agreed. Someone who is in a leadership role should have a higher standard of conduct in order to lead by example. Swooping near spectators shouldn't even have been on his radar of acceptable behavior. I'm sure Rich is a nice guy, but for him to remain Chairman of Safety and Training is a joke. Agreed, however we may need to reexamine the current position and past actions of more BOD members than just Rich if this takes off..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. No thanks. Nothing in my post supports that action. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Dennis McGlynn made one mistake that caused no injuries. He was banned for life from USPA. So it appears USPA has a zero-tolerance policy.... if it ain't one of their own. top Excellent point. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up

I'm +1 with you on this, but then consider this: The USPA is 2 parts. That hard working staff who DOES care about safety, and a board of "popular people" who are a mixed bag. IMO many of them do not have safety as their first priority. Most of them think they do, but when other considerations come into play they cave, many times to remain the "popular people", lest they not get re-elected. What I'm saying to you is please vote. Vote them out and people who are not "popular" in. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Air to Air communications. the "neckmike"
diablopilot replied to propilot's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've tried neck microphones, they suck. Almost unintelligible in freefall, and not much better under canopy. Your best bet would be one of the high end motorcycle systems. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
How many rubber bands are on a free bag? It's doing a different job. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Regular. Rubber bands are cheap, and work. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I'd argue that in my 15 years involvement in this sport I've seen a giant change in attitude of the jumping population to accept more risk. They don't know they are doing it, they are not doing it consciously. I believe as the sport is perceived safer through technology, each subsequent generation (every 3 to 5 years) is taking on risk that the previous generations were not. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Ok and replace cycling with skydiving smartass.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Try reading this article and replacing the word helmet with AAD. See what you think. Heck read it as an article on it's own merit. http://www.howiechong.com/journal/2014/2/bike-helmets ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Wanting to learn to wingsuit fly.
diablopilot replied to blue_bert's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Don't try to remember the formations. Think about what your move is and what you need to do. Example; star--left hand donut Think"keep driving in, right 90 turn, look across formation, feed leg grip to partner, look across formation, don't chase, take left hand grip when presented, look across formation" Rehease where you need to be and what you need to do in relation to others rather than "star-donut" ^This. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. New tunnel coming to Arizona (Phoenix/Scottsdale)
diablopilot replied to Remster's topic in Wind Tunnels
Tunnel crashes? Exactly what could go wrong at a tunnel that would endanger flyers? Honest question. I've seen multiple broken/dislocated arms/legs, know of several serious neck injuries, and have heard of one fatality in Europe. I never doubted that and know of many injuries. I was referring to tunnel mals that injure jumpers. As I understand it modern tunnels are designed to greatly minimize the possibility of a flyer being adversely affected by things like catastrophic equipment failures. But of course anything is possible. Agreed and agreed. I know of no major injuries related to a failure of tunnel equipment. A close call, but nothing else. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Pot, meet kettle. Wow, JP. I've always had more respect for you than that. Coming from you I take that as an unnecessary insult and don't feel it was deserved. Oh well. Then think before you yell at me at the top of your voice that I don't know what I'm talking about as an instructor in front of staff and customers, when maybe, just maybe your experience wad a bit more dated than mine. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Some of us who are concerned about the current state of the instructional corps (insert rolled eyes) have proposed (to the USPA among others) making the 3 year requirement start with the issuance of an skydiving license, but that's fallen on deaf ears. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. As long as they are a representative of the DZ (the time period they are employed/contract for) they the DZO has a vote. Make hay on your own time with your own customers. I am sick and tired of the rampant unprofessional behavior in this industry. It's cost all of us money. One horny weekend wonder has a fling and breaks some tandem student's heart, and next thing you know all her friends go to the "other DZ". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I recognize that flag. Agreed. The strength of the materials used in a shot bak and it's attachment are known and quantifiable. The strength of a concrete doughnut wrapped in a thing plastic shell are not. Just sayin'. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
