  1. You rented/borrowed it, you're responsible. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. Squeeze you butt cheeks together and lift your chin. It's about knowing which muscle groups to task.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. Some interesting stuff here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_aircraft ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Best thing I've seen a student do? Get right back on the horse after failing a level/having a malfunction.
  5. If they prove themselves to be THAT penny pinching-ly cheap, I'd just smile, and hand back their gear, letting know that I can't see my self being able to do the fine job they surely deserve. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. Sure, there's crossover in many activities, however the biggest mistake I see people make is expecting their skill in one activity to create a shortcut in learning the other. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. I could say the exact same thing about more than a few riggers, but those ivory towers they live in sure do look cool. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. ^ What he said. They (through another company) are the current TSO holder of the Reflex. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. A coach rating, minimum. Or do we let anyone teach unlicensed skydivers these days? If you're answering questions in front of a judge or jury, you're going to breathing a whole lot easier if they had an instructional rating of some sort. Not everything is spelled out in detail in the SIM/IRM, nor should it have to be. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. Really? Then my old Cypres should still be good, because I don't remember the 12 year life being advertised when I bought it. Good catch, I'll clarify. AADs are not. TSOd item, instead the approval for their use includes a phrase similar to "must be maintained as per manufacturer's instructions" ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. If the item was not manufactured with a life limit at time of manufacture, then none exists, nor can one retroactively be put in place. It is up to the rigger maintaining and packing the canopy/system to determine airworthyness. Any rigger can also refuse based their own comfort level. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. This. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. You're kidding right? About what? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. New? I did my first wingsuit jump 15 years ago. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Typically the video flyer is staff who hopefully has been vetted. If wingsuiters as a group had held themselves to and policed themselves to the same standard we wouldn't be in this position. But they didn't. They acted like children and were treated as such. Some may want to self examine their actions. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. I'd suggest that most often that is due to a lack of honesty and effort on one (or more) parties part. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. This would be true of all tandem jumps.... The FARs state differently. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. And I'm a TI, wingsuiter, and an S&TA. 500 feet is determined when I think you're too close. I think this rule is as asinine as the fact the wingsuit community has failed to police itself enough that it was deemed necessary to make the rule. It will transfer liability to the DZs in the event of an incident. Simplest way to handle it would simply to ground violators. How close is too close? When the instructors and S&TAs say you're too close. Period. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Do you regularly jump a container that has the word/logo "SkyHook" embroidered on one of the handles? Serious question, that may lead to some of the terminology confusion here.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. Well HI! Was just thinking of you the other day.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. I'm gonna second this suggestion. There's no way that's a pullup cord at the airspeed that canopy appears to be going. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. What kind of experience do you have? The short list is: Find someone with an appropriate aircraft that will rent it out, expect to pay for the travel there and back plus pilot's fees, but assume that it's likely that it won't be legal for you to ride there in the aircraft unless the original seats are reinstalled. Obtain land owner permission for your landing site. File a NOTAM (or have your pilot do it for the operation at least an hour prior, but no more than 24 hours prior.) Jump. Don't die. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. 91.17 Alcohol or drugs. (a) No person may act or attempt to act as a crewmember of a civil aircraft— (1) Within 8 hours after the consumption of any alcoholic beverage; (2) While under the influence of alcohol; (3) While using any drug that affects the person's faculties in any way contrary to safety; or (4) While having an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater in a blood or breath specimen. Alcohol concentration means grams of alcohol per deciliter of blood or grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath. (b) Except in an emergency, no pilot of a civil aircraft may allow a person who appears to be intoxicated or who demonstrates by manner or physical indications that the individual is under the influence of drugs (except a medical patient under proper care) to be carried in that aircraft. Interpret as you will, but in my aircraft any sign of alcohol use by any parachutist is grounds for removal. The lawyers have seen to that. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. Depends, are you in Florida, or Denver? Humidity matters. Depends, do you want the extra wear and tear that over stuffing a rig will cause? Depends, do you want to be a test jumper? The manufacturer made those size guidelines for a reason. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  25. And the rest of us are pretty sick of the societal predication to post for the world to see every bit of video footage..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
