There was an issue with rubber bands that people were using on their hip rings that were causing a massive acceleration of wear to the harness. I wouldn't put rubber bands in a place that could cause unnoticed wear, especially on a harness/riser. If I can find pictures of how I modified my risers to allow the stowing to be a little neater (and cause much less wear on the lines), I'll post them. I use a thick hoodie when I'm jumping with the featherweights. It's hot as fuck, and REALLY sucks in the 182 in the summer, but it works. Just make sure to anchor the bottom properly and remove the draw string. I made my own using some square weave I had laying around. One on the back of each front riser keeps it pretty well stationary. Much more stable than the Skytie I had stolen off my rig. 3rd Class Medical on way out for private pilots?
theonlyski replied to kallend's topic in The Bonfire
Believe it or not, I think this is proving the reason right here. You say you can't drive at night, if you were legally allowed to, would you hop in your plane for a night flight? No, probably not. Most pilots are responsible enough people to know their limitations and not try to fly thru them, especially if they know they can't drive at night (though less pedestrians, animals and lines to stay between without swerving in the sky). Wasn't that dude at your place flying without a valid medical? Ignition interlocks for everyone!! Can't stop them all. Just like the drunk driver that killed a car full of innocent people by hauling ass going the wrong way on the freeway not long ago. But it will give people who are doing the right thing more leeway to continue flying VFR for fun/personal trips. I was a little surprised that it's still going to be required for IFR flight, but that makes plenty of sense to me and I can't say that I disagree with it at all. That does look pretty cool! Ironically, I just watched Blackfish last night... amazing what people will do to make a buck. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

A skydiver under canopy and a pilot in a C-170 got into a bit of a "right of way" dispute. Nobody dead, scratch one plane. There's a huge thread over in incidents. Chuck and the Professor (and a bunch of others) are arguing about who has right of way. Scratch one plane and one parachute. Parachute won that battle though. With a little TLC it could fly again. Had I known you were interested, we could've worked something out. I won a 50% off any canopy, two years in a row (no, they don't let me add them up) but it could've saved a bit. True. If it's installed and always active, then it would be more surprising than that clip, cause she knew she was wearing the panties... Give her a few months of only using it when she needed it, it would probably be a bit more of a surprise. http://www.tampabaybrewingcompany.com/tbbc-ybor-city-brewpub.php Dave has a brewery and he's also a ferry pilot http://www.longrangeaviation.com/more-info.html He actually used to be on a TV show called Plane Extreme. Anyways, he always brings some of his beer with him on an aircraft delivery, as good luck and says it helps keep his feet dry. Pick whichever you want, which ever looks better, feels better, gets there faster or costs less! Seriously, they're both fine rigs, I love my V3 but others love their Javs. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message -
In Honor of Radio Shack Closing 1100 Stores
theonlyski replied to FlyingRhenquest's topic in The Bonfire
I used to work at a mom and pop electronics store in Houston. Need a resistor or diode? We sold them individually! I think it was like 5-7 cents for a resistor. Radio shack would send people to us when they asked for a component that they didn't carry (which is pretty much most components). Sadly I haven't found a store like that in Tampa... So either I suck it up and pay an excessive amount for a couple voltage regulators or I order online. I bought all of my Arduino stuff online. I know we've successfully RMA'ed a few switches that weren't EOL yet and weren't on our support contract. Just not sure how the guy pulls it off. I wasn't 100% positive if they would honor a non CCO linked account, but I'm sure you know more about it than I do! I'm just a lowly CCNA working on my NP... if I can find the freaking time! I call TAC and it shows up within 48 hours. Although for a switch without a modular power supply, we just call them and ask for the 'lifetime warranty replacement'. Believe it or not, you may be able to pull that off, but don't quote me on it. We don't maintain support on most of our access switches, we just keep a pile in the store room and when one goes tits up, we swap it and do the lifetime warranty replacement on it. Don't be fooled though, lifetime to Cisco could mean 5 years. Hell, we filed a TAC case for new ears for our rack mount ASA's and sure as shit they showed up. Sometimes it is just one faulty fan. I once had a switch that became noisy over time. 1. I stuck the eraser end of a pencil into each fan to stop it, and determined which one was the culprit. 2. I opened up the switch, and pulled out the fan so I could read the part numbers. 3. I went on eBay and searched for the part number. I bought a pack of 4 for $4. Problem solved. Yep, we replace a fan assembly on one of the 3800s (routers) at least once a month. Usually it's just one bad fan but Cisco sends us the entire fan assembly, so we end up with an assembly that has 2 working fans and one loud one. Cisco IOS: Tab will complete the command given there are no other commands that start with that. If you were to say type: Switch(config)#int then hit tab, it'll finish the command for interface Switch(config)#interface If there are multiple commands that match the letters you've already typed in, tab won't do anything, but a question mark will. Switch(config)#i? id-manager identity interface ip ipc ipv6 Switch(config)#i Unless we're talking about the Cisco certification tests, fuckers take away the question mark so either you know the command or you don't. Can't remember if you get to keep the tab though.
