  1. He said "wood" I predict that in ten years wingsuiters will be just as childish as today :)
  2. I had difficulty hearing the flysight when the speaker was in my audible pocket (even in a full face helmet). I took it out of the pocket, moved it to where I could feel it pressing against my ear and it works fine. I'm now using it with an open face helmet and I can still hear it ok. Jump more, post less.
  3. 200 jumps before you can wear a camera. Which equates to about 1/3 mile on that course... Jump more, post less.
  4. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3994455#3994455 Both jumps were logged/recorded on the flysight - on jump 219 I couldn't hear the beeps due to the speaker placement so I was flying without it. Jumps on jumplog Jump 219 - http://jgalbraith.jumplog.net/index.php?jump219.php Jump 221 - http://jgalbraith.jumplog.net/index.php?jump221.php Jump 219 without the flysight Max glide rate 1.75 Average fall rate 71 mph Jump 221 with the flysight Max glide rate 2.5 Average fall rate 57 mph Jump more, post less.
  5. In the original flysight thread I posted this The audible feedback really makes a difference. Jump more, post less.
  6. I had another problem when I copied the files from the flysight onto my computer so I could edit them (this was before I found I could cut sections on the jump profile) and opened them in paralog. Paralog reported the wrong serial number unless I copied them back to the flysight and imported them from there. Jump more, post less.
  7. That happened to me when I first used paralog/flysight so I emailed the s/n and details to paralog and they emailed me a different registration code for paralog/flysight. It's happened again since I moved paralog over to my new laptop so I guess (and it is a guess) that the serial number paralog reports for the flysight is dependant on the hardware and probably the OS connecting to the flysight Jump more, post less.
  8. I got a fifteen minute call from manifest on arriving at the DZ - I put my helmet down, switched the flysight on and left it to get a signal whilst I switched the cypress on in the rig and in the time it had taken to do that the flysight had a gps lock. I switched it off and forgot about it until 9k when I switched it back on. On the other hand once I'd geared up I had to take the sidepad out of my helmet, find my pro track, power that up, check the alarm settings, put it back in the pocket, put the sidepad back in the helmet and head for the plane. The flysight is on the back of my helmet, nice and easy to switch on. All I do at 9k is switch it on, wait for a lock (a few seconds normally), rest my helmet on the top of my head, put the earpiece in, helmet down, clip the helmet buckle and I'm ready to jump. Then when I land I just reach round and I can feel the off switch easy enough. For me it's easier that the flysight is on the back of the helmet as I can see the lights, I don't have to fish it out of the pocket etc etc. Jump more, post less.
  9. I paid £1.33 per litre of diesel on thursday evening and it was the cheapest I could get as I live off shore from the UK. Today it went up by 1p and next week it will go up by another 4p as they throw the extra vat on... I've said it before but we (the people) should demand that prices are displayed less taxes and duties so every time you pay for something you are aware of just how much money you are giving the govt. And every time you see the obscene amount of money BP/Shell etc make just remember they find the oil, drill it, shift it to a refinery (that they built and run), refine it, then transport it to a garage that they built and staff and then they sell it to us and make just a few pence per litre. The govt makes about 70p per litre for doing f*ck all.... Jump more, post less.
  10. I probably went overboard but.. I put a 2" wide strip of selotape on the back of my helmet and on the bottom of the flysight. I got my hot glue gun out and put two lines of hot glue onto the selotape on the helmet. I then pushed the flysight down onto the still warm glue. This gave me a nice removable flexible flat suface to mount the flysight on. Removed the selotape from the flysight. I then just used a couple of slim strips of gaffa tape that allows me to see the led and to also plug the usb lead in. I ran the headphone lead down the back of the helmet and gaffa taped over it. Removed the padding from the helmet and looped the earphone wire inside. Only took about 5 mins. Jump more, post less.
  11. I'll be in Empuria 7/11 jan :) Jump more, post less.
  12. I got into skydiving to get into BASE but about the 100 jump mark I really noticed wingsuiting and it's taken me away from my original goal (which is probably not a bad thing..) I've only got a couple of dozen WS jumps under my belt but it is probably the best thing I have ever done in my life. :) I remember a couple of weeks before my FJC- I was sitting in a cafe and I could picture myself and sense and 'feel' what it was going to be like following the ground school and on that first climb to altitude, the smell of the jet fuel as I climbed the ladder into the plane, sitting behind the pilot for the first time, chatting nervously with my coach, the apprehension as we climbed, my heart rate climbing with the increase in altitude, then waiting whilst the free flyers, 4 ways, AFFs and tandems jumped out before finally it would be my turn in the door, the nerves, the excitement as I stepped out and then the 'clarity of vision' as I opened the arms wings and for the first time really flew and all my nerves and fears would fall away. Unfortunately it wasn't like that at all - I wasn't nervous (etc etc) and my heart rate didn't increase (booo!!) any more than normal.. BUT - you know how sometimes in life you've built something up, you expect it to be great and it doesn't really live up to that ? This didn't. This was way better than I'd expected. And I expected it to be awesome. This is fun on steroids. And then when I moved off the intro suit, and then onto an intermediate suit it just got better and better. I hope it does for you what it's doing for me - everyone should feel like this :) [edited (badly) for typos and spelling] Jump more, post less.
  13. Oooh - any idea roughly when ?? Planing on a couple of weeks at Empuria late march early april but if there is something happening in the UK.... Mind you it's cheaper and easier for me to get to Empuria Jump more, post less.
  14. Just thought I'd share a couple of jump logs. I've only recently started wingsuiting (just 30 w/s jumps) and I'm really enjoying it. As I've just started I thought the flysight would be really handy to get my flying position dialled in. And it did. On jump 219 I had the flysight switched on but I couldn't hear the tones to help me out. Before jump 221 I switched from an in-helmet speaker to earphones and could hear the tones quite easily. You can see the difference in the glide rate ! I think as a newb that this is really going to help me out :) Jump more, post less.
  15. If carlsberg made spam.. (not sure if this will be appreciated outside the UK or not) I can't wait to get home and try your viewer out. Thanks for programming it and thanks for posting !! Jump more, post less.
  16. Great info thanks - I'll solder it up tonight :) Jump more, post less.
  17. I've got a flysight winging it's way to me in the post from from Mirko and I'm just getting the 'headphones' ready in case it turns up the day I'm heading to the DZ. I've got a set of in helmet speakers from a motorbike intercom system which will fit quite happily (and comfortably) in my jump helmet that I can wire up to a 3.5mm plug I know it has to be a stereo jack but should I join the both the tip (left chan.) and ring (right chan.) to the screened core of the wire and the sleeve (ground) to the sleeve (mono from a stereo plug) or just wire the sleeve to either the tip or ring ? Thanks - I can't wait to fly this :) Jump more, post less.
  18. I think with cats it is all about their quality of life. If the prognosis is that they will be back to jumping on chairs, playing, eating happily etc etc then it is worth it. If it's just a marginal improvement then is it worth the stress of putting them through the op ?? The expense doesn't come into it. I've had to have three cats put down at the end of their time - and except for one I wondered if I'd had left it beyond the right point. Had I let their quality of life deteriorate beyond where it was fair to keep them alive. Was I keeping them around as I didn't want to lose them ?? Jump more, post less.
  19. Or watch motorbikes instead. MotoGP has been really good (despite Nicky Hayden having difficulty adjusting to the Ducati), AMA Superbike has a new champion, World Superbikes is doing well. Jump more, post less.

  22. It's a lot of fun to ride, it's geared down so it maxes out at 130 but the trade off is that it accelerates real quick and lifts the front end over most lumps in the road. My engine guy is trying to get me to NOS it. I am so tempted :) A couple more photos :) Jump more, post less.
  23. I love bikes - I had my bike licence for 10 years before getting my car licence :) I live on the Isle of Man so it's the perfect place for a bike. Right now I have a Blackbird (went 2,600 miles on it to Empuriabrava and back to take my AFF on it last year), a CBR600 for going to work on (when I'm not cycling in) and my streetfightered Honda Hornet.
